Kyle was quite nervous, he wouldn’t lie.
Until now, he had mainly faced Nightmares. They might be ugly, but they were quite weak. He could easily squash them with his hands or a bat.
And being so stupid gives him an upper hand to manipulate the battlefield anyhow he wants.
But this ti, he had co here to fight sothing far more dangerous and possibly cunning. Sothing that might not charge at him blindly and could very well resort to cheap tricks to harm him.
The last ti he hunted a Majin, the only reason he managed such a feat was because the creature’s focus had been on soone else. And that burst of Genesis had left him completely exhausted.
He couldn’t repeat that. It would be reckless. So he had to be extrely careful while fighting the monster this ti.
"Okay... how do I call it out?" Kyle asked, tightening his grip on the tools in his hands as he prepared himself.
[Just give the command, host, and the system will release a small burst of Genesis through the God’s Eye, which will attract the Knull resident.]
Kyle gathered his thoughts and steadied himself. He rembered why he was here and that gave him no amount of strength.
But still, he finally commanded, "Get it started."
A slight burn spread through his eyes as the God’s Eye began to work.
Maybe the system wanted him to see, because he noticed a faint blue hue seeping toward the dark crack in the concrete.
His muscles tensed, his mind emptied of everything except what stood before him.
Soon, the dark patch began to wither, as if salt had been sprinkled over a worm.
The change was sudden and unmistakable.
What looked like an ashen flower bud suddenly cracked open from the middle, forcing Kyle to take a cautious step back.
A tiny droplet slid down from his forehead, tracing the line of his face. The mont it touched the ground, a hand shot out from the crack.
"Krrr..."
Kyle flinched, but he didn’t move away.
Having faced such horrifying creatures rushing at him in numbers had built a certain resistance within him.
CRIIK
The dark patch withered further and split open, revealing a skeletal figure trying to crawl out of its prison.
Its entire body was nothing but skin and bones, the frawork starkly visible. Sunken dark eyes, hollow temples, and long, stick thin arms gave it a ghastly appearance.
’It’s different from the one I fought,’ Kyle muttered, his focus fixed entirely on the being erging before him.
[Indeed, host. This one is a little weaker than the one you defeated last ti.]
[Do you want to use God’s Eye to appraise it?]
Kyle nodded. ’Go ahead.’
Just then, the Majin stopped.
Its body continued to face the other side, but its head slowly turned.
Their eyes t.
A cold sensation crawled down Kyle’s spine, but he held his ground.
The Majin suddenly arched its arms back and dropped to the ground.
Its twig-like knees folded as the creature stared at him from ground level.
If this had been part of a horror movie, he might have simply snorted and moved on. But seeing sothing like this in real life was an entirely different matter.
"Ah! It’s coming!" Kyle warned no one in particular as the creature suddenly charged at him, its feet and fingers moving in eerie sync.
Just then, the system notified him,
[Stats:]
Strength: 13
Speed: 20
Endurance: 8
Intelligence: 9]
Kyle only had a mont to glance at the status screen before he dashed away, circling around a pillar to dodge the incoming danger.
The monster suddenly leapt forward and grabbed onto the pillar. Moving like a spider, it scurried around it before launching itself toward Kyle.
The boy turned just in ti to see it rushing straight at him.
[Amplifying visual perception!]
The system instantly enhanced his senses, and the world around him slowed.
Kyle could see the Majin’s mouth stretched wide open, its long, sharp fingers reaching toward him.
’Fuck... move!’ Kyle clenched his fist and raised his left hand.
CLANG
The Majin bit down on the neck of the wrench.
GRRR
It growled in anger, its hands shooting forward to grab his head. But thanks to his heightened senses, Kyle reacted in ti and leaned his head back.
"Fuck off!" he cursed, and using all his strength, he swatted the creature away.
The Majin rolled across the ground before quickly getting back on its feet.
Standing upright, it barely reached Kyle’s chest.
But right now, Kyle would do anything except mock its height or bully it.
Kyle took a deep breath and asked, ’Any weak point detected?’
[Its mouth, host. It reacted instantly when you tried shoving that wrench down its windpipe.]
Kyle nodded. He wiped his nose and crouched low.
"Here it cos."
He didn’t even need to move. The Majin let out a shrill, hysterical laugh that could traumatize a child and charged straight at him.
Kyle thrust the hamr forward.
The Majin ducked and kept rushing in, one hand poised to pierce through his stomach.
But Kyle suddenly tilted his body, slipping past the charge. He dropped the hamr and grabbed its arm.
Guh... sticky. And so thin...
He spun on his heel, dragging the Majin along with him. But suddenly the monster’s lower body shifted, its legs coiling tightly around Kyle’s chest.
[Host! Hurry and get it off!]
Kyle was already moving.
He jamd his fingers between the creature’s jaws, trying to force them apart and shove it away. But the Majin suddenly pulled its head back and...
THWACK
Kyle’s head rang as sothing blunt and hard smashed into his skull.
His head snapped back. Hot liquid burst from his nose.
For a mont, everything went blank.
Then, in the very next instant, "Die, you bitch!"
Kyle jerked his head back into place and drove the wrench straight at the Majin’s closed mouth.
THWACK
The monster growled, its grip around his chest tightening.
Kyle didn’t back away. He didn’t groan.
The wrench in his hand glowed faintly as he pulled it back and muttered, "Just die already!"
He slamd his fist into its skull, aiming to crush the inside of its mouth.
But...
THWACK—BOOOOOM
The mont his knuckles connected with its skull, the Majin’s entire skeleton exploded.
A headless body remained coiled around his chest.
But the strength was already fading. The grip loosened as the Majin’s head dissolved into ashen fog.
Obliterated.
Kyle looked down at his fist.
When he opened his hand, the tal wrench slipped from both sides. Its middle section had been completely burnt through.
Kyle rubbed the back of his head and asked, ’System... did I go overboard?’
[No, host. You used your Genesis in just the right amount... just please don’t get injured again.]
Kyle gave a wry smile. Not like he wanted to.
The Majin’s body slowly began to burn away.
Kyle waited for the notification of his reward... when suddenly—
"Grrrrr..."
Another growl echoed.
It sounded similar to the one he had just killed, but sharper. More shrill.
Kyle slowly turned his head.
Right outside the crack stood another Majin.
[Host...]
Kyle sighed and picked up his hamr.
’Guess it’s ti for so overti.’
