Silas arrived at the Assembly Hall of Valoria Academy shortly before 14:00 hours.

As the most prestigious academy in the entire City of Valoria, the hall was a massive, vaulted auditorium designed to hold thousands of students, complete with towering marble columns and tiered seating.

Right now, however, it felt terrifyingly empty.

Out of the hundreds of students in Senior Cohort Class Three, only five people were standing in the center of the vast room.

Silas was one of them. Looking around, he noted three young won and only one other young man.

That was the brutal reality of the Awakening Ceremony... Out of a massive student body, a re handful actually succeeded in anchoring their souls to the Sovereign Realm.

There were two ways a person could beco a Lord.

The first was the standard thod they had all just undergone: standing on the sacrificial altar while the obsidian pillars forcefully injected the cosmic energy of the Outer Expanse into their bodies, desperately trying to jumpstart a Lord Core.

The second thod was entirely natural. A person whose soul was so inherently attuned to the Sovereign Realm that they simply generated a core on their own, without needing the pillars but those individuals were anomalies... one-in-a-billion geniuses born to conquer. For everyone else, it was a terrifying gamble on the altar.

As they waited, one of the newly awakened won edged closer to Silas.

She offered a coy smile. "Hey. Silas, right? I’m Maya. Since we’re both Lords now, we should probably form an alliance. Maybe grab dinner tonight to discuss our... strategies?"

She was looking for a carry. An Excellent-Grade Blue Core ant Silas was destined for high society, and she clearly wanted to attach herself to that rising star.

"Not interested," Silas said, not even glancing her way.

Maya’s smile completely vanished, replaced by a dark scowl before she stord off to the other side of the group but Silas didn’t care.

He wasn’t financially stable enough to entertain a relationship, nor did he have the ti to carry dead weight... He had an empire to build.

A few feet away stood the Campus Belle, Elora Verinda.

She was breathtaking... a striking girl with pale blonde hair that fell in perfect, cascading waves, and sharp, icy blue eyes that looked down on the rest of the world. She caught Silas looking, t his gaze for a fraction of a second, and then indifferently looked away.

Her awakening wasn’t a surprise to anyone.

Elora was the City Lord’s daughter, hailing from a long, aristocratic line of powerful Lords. Her success was practically paid for in advance through top-tier alchemical elixirs and private tutoring.

Before anyone else could speak, the massive double doors behind the podium slamd shut.

A blinding, incandescent light erupted from the center of the stage. The sheer force of the magical pressure made Silas squint, the heavy aura pressing the oxygen out of his lungs.

When the light faded, a woman in a sleek, military-style uniform was standing at the podium.

"Congratulations," her voice bood carrying a weight that demanded absolute obedience. "Unlike the hundreds of your classmates who are now destined to sweep streets and forge mundane iron, you five have touched the Outer Expanse. Do not waste this opportunity."

She didn’t waste ti on a long speech.

She raised her right hand, and a blur of concentrated silver light shot from her palm, branching into five distinct beams that struck the center of each student’s hand.

Silas felt a brief warmth, accompanied by a soft [Ding!] in his mind. Sothing had just entered his Inventory.

"You may use your Status Interface to check your items," the woman continued from the podium. "Focus on the item, and the Sovereign Realm will provide its description. Do so now."

Silas silently called up his interface.

[Lord]: Silas Graves

[Territory]: Unnad

[Level]: 1

[Vitality]: 2

[Mana]: 2

[Inventory]: Lord Guide Book x1

He focused his mind on the single item sitting in his digital storage, and a new text box instantly expanded.

[Item: Lord Guide Book]

[Tier]: 1 (Common)

[Description]: A standard manual provided to all newly awakened Lords. Contains basic survival knowledge, monster taxonomy of the Outer Expanse, and fundantal territory managent instructions.

Silas frowned slightly.

His basic building materials weren’t there... His promised Hero Summoning Ticket wasn’t there either.. He knew exactly what this ant. Standard Red Cores received standard gear. Because of his Blue Core status, the governnt wasn’t just going to hand him premium resources in front of the others.

"I wish you all the best of luck in your upcoming Novice Trials," The woman said. "The rest of you may now report to the Lord Association Building... the LAB to register your information and claim your basic stipends. Dismissed."

The other students turned toward the exit, their faces flushed with excitent. Elora lingered for a mont with her eyes darting toward the officer, but she too eventually turned to leave.

"Except you, Mr. Graves. Stay behind."

As the group filtered out, the other young man in the room shot Silas a dark, envious glare, hissing a bitter "Lucky" under his breath before the doors clicked shut.

The officer gestured for Silas to follow her. She led him off the stage and into a plush, soundproofed private office just behind the hall.

With a casual wave of her hand, the heavy oak door locked itself.

She took a seat behind a massive mahogany desk and gestured for Silas to sit opposite her. As soon as he did, the air shimred and two steaming cups of deep blue tea materialized out of thin air onto the desk.

"Drink," she said.

Silas stared at the glowing blue liquid, raising an eyebrow.

The woman chuckled which was a surprisingly warm sound compared to her strict podium deanor. "I didn’t poison it, kid. Relax."

To prove her point, she picked up her cup and took a long sip. Silas slowly mirrored her, bringing the porcelain to his lips. The mont the hot liquid hit his throat, his eyes widened.

It didn’t just taste good... it was like drinking liquid energy. A pure, dense wave of mana washed through his veins, temporarily doubling his sensory perception.

"That was a special harvest from my territory," she said, leaning back in her chair. "I am Commander Vesper. Level 40 Lord. My territory sits right in the heart of the Crimson Valleys, deep within the Outer Expanse."

Level 40... Silas kept his face neutral, but internally, he was reeling.

The Sovereign Realm had heavily mapped "known locations" where established alliances had carved out safe zones, but the Crimson Valleys was a notorious frontline warzone.

Unlucky Lords who spawned in unknown locations were usually dead in a week and surviving to Level 40 in a hot zone ant this woman was a monster on the battlefield.

"Congratulations on awakening an Excellent-Grade Blue Core," Vesper continued. "Your future is exceptionally bright, Silas."

She didn’t know.

Because Silas had forcefully upgraded to a Gold Core inside a slum apartnt, there had been no public light pillar to announce it.

In this world, all Awakened Lords gave off a passive hum of mana. You could tell if soone was a Lord just by standing near them, but you couldn’t technically feel the grade of another Lord’s core without a specialized scanning artifact.

To Vesper and the rest of the world, he was still just a Blue Core genius.

"Extend your hand," Vesper instructed.

Silas held his hand over the desk. Vesper reached out, her fingers hovering an inch above his palm. A rush of silver light flowed from her skin into his.

[Ding! Multiple items have been transferred to your Inventory.]

Silas imdiately checked his status and his empty inventory was suddenly stacked with high-tier loot.

[Item: Hero Summoning Ticket]

[Tier]: —

[Description]: A ticket that guarantees the summoning of a Hero unit.

[Item: Heavy Construction Bundle]

[Tier]: 2 (Uncommon)

[Description]: Contains 500 units of refined Stone, 500 units of Ironwood, and 100 units of tempered Iron. Sufficient to construct a Tier 2 Armored Barracks.

[Item: Military Food Rations]

[Tier]: 1 (Common)

[Description]: 30 days’ worth of nutrient-dense, non-perishable food to sustain early-ga troops.

[Item: Standard Weapon Chest]

[Tier]: 1 (Common)

[Description]: Contains basic iron swords, spears, and bows to equip a standard 10-man militia squad.

"As a Blue Core talent, you bypass the basic registry line at the LAB," Vesper explained, interlacing her fingers on the desk. "A monthly allowance of 50,000 Spirit Credits has already been deposited into your banking account by the Lord Association, along with a 50,000 credit signing bonus from the City Lord’s office. I highly suggest you buy so decent personal armor before your Descent."

"Wait," Silas said. "Aren’t I supposed to go register my biological data first?"

Vesper shrugged indifferently.

"The Association already pulled your academy records and registered you automatically. I’m just military; I’m not in charge of the bureaucratic red tape." She leveled a serious look at him. "However, the stipend isn’t free. To maintain your Lord benefits, you are required to submit the monster cores or corpses of at least thirty Tier 1 Spirit Beasts to the LA every month."

Thirty Tier 1 beasts a month. For a standard Red Core, that was a brutal, life-threatening quota... For Silas, with his SSS-Rank Divine Sanctum trait, he planned to kill thirty of them before lunch tomorrow.

"Got it," Silas nodded. "So, isn’t this the part where you try to recruit to whatever massive corporate guild you work for?"

Vesper actually smiled as she reached into her uniform pocket and slid a sleek, black business card across the mahogany desk. It bore the silver emblem of a crossed sword and shield.

"I was ordered to officially invite you to the Territio Guild. We offer full territory protection, accelerated leveling teams, and a five-million SC annual salary for Blue Cores."

Silas glanced at the card, then looked back up at her, not making a move to touch it. "Perhaps I’ll think about it."

Vesper’s smile didn’t waver. She knew exactly what a polite refusal sounded like.

"Sure. Keep yourself alive out there, Silas Graves. We’ll see you when you finish your trial."

Without another word, a beam of blinding light engulfed her. When the light vanished a fraction of a second later, Commander Vesper was gone.

Silas blinked.

The two porcelain teacups that had been sitting on the desk were completely gone with her.

"Hey," Silas muttered to the empty room. "I wasn’t done with that."

He stood up, shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked out of the office. He absolutely was not joining the Territio, or any other guild for that matter.

Every major guild had strict induction policies. They required you to submit to a deep magical scan of your Lord Core to verify your potential before signing a contract.

If Silas stood in front of a scanner right now and they saw a Mythic Gold Core burning in his chest, the resulting shockwave would make him global news in five minutes. He would be targeted, kidnapped, or forcefully conscripted by the highest bidder.

’I’m not ready for all of that right now,’ Silas thought pragmatically. He needed to build his power in the shadows of the Outer Expanse first.

Stepping out of the grand Academy doors and into the crisp afternoon air of Valoria City, Silas pulled out his beat-up cracked smartphone.

He opened his banking application and the screen flickered for a mont before loading.

[Current Balance: 100,000 SC]

Silas stared at the six figures on the shattered screen.

An hour ago, he was a broke kid in the slums hauling scrap tal just to afford nutrient paste. Now, he had a small fortune sitting in the palm of his hand. A genuine, relaxed smile finally broke across his face.

"I better get to buying a new phone," Silas murmured to himself as he walked down the marble steps. "And a new apartnt. And so new clothes, too."
