Chapter 127. Conversation

Ancestor Fenlilan’s gaze swept across the empty Throne Hall, a knowing smile resting at the corners of his lips.

“They will not be able to keep their composure.”

“With resources on that scale, they definitely do not want the Kroll Kingdom to obtain them. Starting a war has beco one possible way out.”

Kroll II nodded in full agreent, his fingertips lightly tapping against the throne’s armrest.

“Sotis, war truly is the only way to solve certain problems. As long as the seven nations are thrown into complete chaos...”

He paused and looked at Fenlilan.

“Ancestor, do you think those Domain-Level Powerhouses might actually start fighting?”

Fenlilan shook his head, a sharp glint flashing through his clouded eyes.

“Six against four. They are not fools.”

“Anyone who can live long enough to reach the Domain has to be shrewd.”

“No matter how great their talent is, if they are idiots who do not know how to adapt, they would have died long ago on the path of advancent. Do not worry. They will not fight.”

He took a sip of the hot tea offered by an attendant and said leisurely, “Otherwise, they would not be content with rely trading insults through Communication Crystals.”

“The relay station in the Hulk Basin is only that big. They are probably staying room by room, close enough to hear each other cough. If they really wanted to fight, they would have started already. There would be no need to curse at each other through crystals.”

At those words, Kroll II could not help but burst into laughter.

“That would be far too amusing. A group of Domain-Level Powerhouses, the peak combat strength of their nations, cramd into one basin and threatening each other from separate rooms.”

Standing to one side, William listened to their conversation, and his thoughts suddenly beca clear.

So what his father and Ancestor wanted was not rely resources. They ant to use these negotiations to throw the situation into disorder and buy the Kroll Kingdom ti to breathe and develop.

Seeing William’s thoughtful expression, Ancestor Fenlilan’s smile deepened.

“It seems little William has understood.”

“Rember this. The next two years may be a rare period of peace. You must continue to seize the ti, pick out those slaves with the highest aptitude, and send them into the Northern Frontier Secret Realm.”

“The more strength you gather now, the more confidence you will have in the future.”

“Yes, Ancestor. Your grandson understands,” William replied in a low voice, fully aware that beneath this seeming calm lay the most crucial ti for building up strength.

Kroll II also looked at him, his tone turning more solemn.

“During this period, besides screening the slaves, pay more attention to those foreign princesses as well.”

“The Marriage Alliance is a bargaining chip, but the outward formalities must be done properly. Do not let anyone find fault with you. After all, for now, we still cannot afford to completely fall out with the forces behind them.”

“I understand, Father King,” William replied with a nod.

He knew that these foreign princesses were both a bond maintaining relations and potential spies. In matters of balance and restraint, he would have to be especially careful.

Ancestor Fenlilan lifted his teacup and gently blew away the foam on top.

“Go on. Do whatever you need to do. Rember, only by being strong yourself can you stand firm.”

William bowed and slowly withdrew from the Throne Hall.

Over the next few days, the Hulk Basin remained as calm as expected.

Those Domain-Level Powerhouses seed to be bound by invisible threads. Though their auras frequently collided in the air, they never truly ca to blows.

The atmosphere inside the relay station was taut as a drawn bowstring, yet it sohow maintained a strange balance.

By the afternoon of the third day, the delegations from the four kingdoms finally lost their patience and submitted a formal notice of departure to the Kroll royal family.

Before leaving, under the pretext of “farewell,” the four envoys t privately with the “princesses” sent by their respective kingdoms.

No one knew what they said. All anyone saw was that when the envoys left, each of the three princesses had an ancient-looking Spatial Ring on her finger.

The patterns on the surface of the rings shimred faintly under the sunlight. They were obviously no ordinary objects.

Only after the carriages of the four kingdoms’ delegations had completely vanished onto the road leading toward the border did the envoys of the three foreign nations finally breathe a sigh of relief.

When the news reached the Throne Hall, Kroll II was playing chess with Ancestor Fenlilan.

After hearing the attendant’s report, he rely smiled faintly and set down a chess piece.

“As expected. Since they have delivered spies right to our door, we would be fools not to use them.”

Ancestor Fenlilan’s fingers paused slightly on the chess piece in his hand, and he looked at William.

“Little William, what do you think is inside those rings?”

After a brief mont of thought, William answered, “Most likely so kind of communication magic item, or perhaps talismans for transmitting information. Maybe... there are also so things ant for self-protection or to create chaos.”

“Not necessarily.”

A trace of sly amusent flashed through Fenlilan’s eyes, and he shook his head with a teasing smile.

“Still, having the Shadow Guard keep a close watch on them is the right thing to do. Do not alert the enemy.”

As he spoke, he took out three crystalline little bottles from his Spatial Ring. They were filled with pale golden liquid, and as they swayed slightly, it seed as though streams of light were flowing within.

“These are three vials of Elixir of Life. They can dispel the vast majority of curses and poisons in the world. Even if you encounter sothing especially troubleso, they can keep you alive long enough for to gain ti to save you.”

William accepted the bottles with both hands and solemnly put them away in his Spatial Ring. Then he bowed.

“Thank you, Ancestor.”

“It is nothing.”

Fenlilan waved a hand, his tone growing lighter.

“Although I think those rings probably contain so low-class toys for spicing things up, there is still the chance that, driven into a corner, they may have hidden sothing even more vicious. To be safe, there is nothing wrong with making more preparations.”

William nodded in acknowledgnt, becoming even more vigilant inwardly.

Those three princesses looked delicate and harmless, but behind them stretched the spy networks of the four kingdoms. The Spatial Rings in their hands were like three bombs that could go off at any mont. He had to remain on guard at all tis.

Watching this scene, Kroll II revealed a gratified smile.

Ancestor might appear casual, but in truth, he had long since paved the way ahead for William. That thoroughness was precisely the foundation of the royal family’s inheritance.

The chess pieces on the board remained silent as ever, but the invisible contest had already quietly begun, hidden within the Shadow Guard’s surveillance and the princesses’ daily lives.
