Chapter 157. Even with the Dragon Island Grand Elder Arriving in Ti, They Still Had to Call for Outside Reinforcents

Fenlilan’s voice carried an urgency and terror unlike anything before.

“Use the dragon scale to contact the Dragon Island Grand Elder at once. Tell him to co here as fast as possible. Inside Magic Serpent Fortress... a Demigod-level Lich King has appeared. Aksu, he... he has already fallen.”

William’s pupils contracted sharply, and his grip on the dragon scale tightened at once.

A Demigod Lich King? Even Ancestor Aksu had...

He did not dare dwell on it any longer. He imdiately poured even more mana into the dragon scale. Its glow grew increasingly intense, and the sound of the Dragon’s Roar pierced through the clouds, racing toward distant Dragon Island.

“Ancestor, what exactly happened?” William asked in a low voice, though it trembled slightly from shock.

Fenlilan was breathing heavily, his eyes full of fear.

“That thing is far beyond anything we can contend with. With a wave of its hand, it can turn Domain-Level Powerhouses into undead. Aksu stayed behind to cover our retreat, and he already...”

He could not continue. He only waved his hand forcefully.

“Don’t ask. Hurry. We’ll talk after the Grand Elder arrives. Right now, our only hope lies with the Dragon Clan.”

The atmosphere in Iron Skull Fortress instantly turned heavy as iron. Everyone could feel the undead pressure from the east growing stronger and stronger, as if a world-destroying beast were awakening, ready at any mont to devour the entire world.

Just as everyone waited in mounting anxiety, a golden fissure suddenly split open in the sky, and the figure of the Dragon Island Grand Elder erged from within.

He had taken human form and wore an ancient robe embroidered with dragon patterns. His hair and beard were white as snow, yet his eyes were as sharp as an eagle’s. The mont he appeared, he looked toward the direction of Magic Serpent Fortress, his brows drawing together slightly.

“Little William, you’ve attracted quite a troubleso thing.”

The Grand Elder’s voice carried a trace of surprise.

“It’s actually undead. That is rather rare. By all rights, the Ancient Council should have driven such things out of the Ninth Continent long ago. How could sothing like this appear here?”

Before his words had fully fallen, his figure had already turned into a streak of light and shot straight toward Magic Serpent Fortress.

“I’ll go take a look.”

A short while later, deafening explosions erupted from the direction of Magic Serpent Fortress, and the energy shockwaves spread outward like raging tides.

Even the sturdy Iron Skull Fortress shook violently. The bricks and stones of the city walls rattled loudly, and the soldiers all braced themselves, their faces pale.

This battle lasted much longer than the previous one. Every collision sounded as though it could tear the sky apart.

Only after half an hour did the commotion gradually subside.

The Grand Elder’s figure reappeared above the fortress. Although his aura was sowhat disordered, he remained calm and steady.

He descended and looked at William and the others, then shook his head.

“Little William, even I have no way of dealing with that thing. I cannot kill it.”

Everyone’s hearts instantly sank to the bottom.

“I’ve already set up a Draconic Barrier around the outer periter of Magic Serpent Fortress. It can trap him for now, but it won’t hold for long.”

The Grand Elder’s tone was grave.

“You must imdiately send word to the Ancient Council and have them dispatch experts to deal with this.”

“The power of that thing has already exceeded what a kingdom can handle. If this continues and the barrier breaks, the entire eastern region of the continent where you stand will turn into a land of undead.”

William nodded at once.

“I’ll make arrangents imdiately.”

“Go.”

The Grand Elder lifted his head and looked toward Magic Serpent Fortress, his gaze solemn.

“The mont the barrier’s light begins to weaken, that will be the sign that he is about to break through the formation.”

William looked at the Dragon Island Grand Elder, his gaze resolute. “Grand Elder, if two Demigods joined forces, how long could they keep him trapped?”

A flicker of understanding passed through the Grand Elder’s eyes, and then he said after a mont of thought, “You want to invite that Demigod Elf, Aiya?”

“Little William, you should think carefully. Asking a Demigod to act is a price no ordinary kingdom could ever bear.”

“No matter how great the price is, we still have to ask.”

William did not hesitate in the slightest.

“Only if you and she join forces to restrain him will we have any hope of holding out until the Ancient Council arrives.”

As he spoke, he took out a Tree of Life Leaf that emitted a gentle green glow and slowly poured mana into it.

The leaf imdiately lit up with a warm radiance. A breath of life flowed through its veins, as though it were responding to his plea.

A few minutes later, a spatial rift carrying the fragrance of grass and trees tore open above Iron Skull Fortress, and an elf in a green dress slowly stepped out.

Her silver hair fell to her waist, and her features were clear and elegant. She was none other than the Demigod Elf, Aiya.

The mont she appeared, her delicate brows furrowed slightly, and her gaze turned precisely toward Magic Serpent Fortress. Clearly, she too had sensed that nauseating undead aura.

“Such dense undead power...”

Aiya’s voice carried a chill.

“William, is this why you called for ?”

“Lady Aiya, the situation is urgent.”

William bowed.

“A Demigod Lich King that cannot be killed has appeared in Magic Serpent Fortress. The Grand Elder has already laid down a barrier to trap him for the ti being, but it will not hold much longer.”

“I earnestly ask for your help. Please join the Grand Elder in guarding the barrier until the Ancient Council arrives.”

Aiya looked toward the Grand Elder, and he gave a slight nod, confirming William’s words.

She fell silent for a mont. Her gaze swept over the tense soldiers within the fortress before finally settling on the Tree of Life Leaf that was still glowing. She let out a soft sigh.

“The undead should never have appeared on this continent in the first place. Since I have seen this with my own eyes, I have no reason to stand by and do nothing.”

“But William, afterward, there is sothing I need your help with. I need you to co with to Moonglow Starrain Forest.”

Then she turned to the Grand Elder.

“Let’s go have a look.”

“Please, follow .”

The two figures rose into the air at the sa ti and flew toward Magic Serpent Fortress. William watched their departing backs and tightly clenched the Tree of Life Leaf in his hand.

What could the Elf race possibly need his help with?

The thought flashed through William’s mind, only to be suppressed at once by the urgent situation before him.

He looked at Ancestor Fenlilan, who was still montarily stunned, and spoke in a hurried tone.

“Ancestor, quickly. Go to the Royal Capital at once. Take Father with you and contact the Ancient Council directly. No matter what, they must send people here as soon as possible.”

Fenlilan suddenly ca back to his senses. A grave look flashed through his eyes, and he nodded.

He turned to Lynn at his side. Lynn imdiately understood and said in a deep voice, “Ancestor, go without worry. I’ll stay here. If the situation truly reaches the worst possible point, I’ll take Prince William and withdraw.”

Fenlilan looked deeply at them, no longer hesitated, and turned into a streak of light that sped toward the Royal Capital.

On the walls of Iron Skull Fortress, only William, Lynn, and the soldiers standing ready for battle remained.

In the direction of Magic Serpent Fortress in the distance, the intertwined glow of the golden barrier and green life force flickered bright and dim. From ti to ti, muffled booms of colliding energies could be heard. Every fluctuation made people’s hearts tighten.

“Lynn, how long do you think... the Grand Elder and Lady Aiya can hold out?” William asked softly, his eyes fixed on the east.

Lynn tightened his grip on the sword in his hand. The pain from his wound kept him clear-headed.

“It’s hard to say. That Lich King’s power is too strange. It can assimilate Domain-Level Powerhouses, and even the Dragon Island Grand Elder said it cannot be killed... but as long as the barrier still stands, we still have hope.”
