The current Eastern Cosmos Domain Chair is called Yinbasim.
Four years ago, the forr Chair, Zuo Zhaofeng, as he wished, was promoted and beca a Deputy Pri Minister of the Military Affairs Departnt.
Typically, this isn’t achieved so quickly.
The Chair before Zuo Zhaofeng in the Eastern Cosmos Domain was only promoted to Deputy Pri Minister after a lifeti of struggling in the local governnt, and after serving a couple of years, he retired, basically just enjoying a retirent benefit.
The position of Cosmic Domain Chair is significant, even with the eligibility to elect a High Lord, but not everyone can advance to a high position in Central Empire.
The vice Premier of the Central Empire’s departnts, compared to an ordinary Cosmic Domain Chair, has debatably more power, but there’s no question about status; the vice Premier holds a rank higher. Additionally, the allure of entering the power center of Holy Terra...unless soone is set on being a ’local emperor’, most Empire politicians would choose to beco a vice Premier.
Not to ntion the Vice Premier position; there are even Cosmic Domain Chairs transitioning to beco Assistant Ministers. This position is just a rank higher than a Deputy Minister, yet within a departnt, it’s among the top seven figures.
Theoretically, including the Executive Council, Legal Departnt, Military Affairs Departnt, and Taxation Departnt, there are only eight vice Premier positions in total, so finding a vacancy is not easy. Even if one opens up, the competition pressure is intense; not only are the Cosmic Domain Chairs eyeing the vacancy, but Assistant Ministers and Deputy Ministers in various departnts are also watching closely. It’s not sothing you can just take if desired.
Zuo Zhaofeng, though he served as the Cosmic Domain Chair for over forty years, honestly, his position wasn’t particularly solid, as if he had been slightly elevated. His qualifications and achievents were sowhat lacking, theoretically making it unlikely for him to contend for that vice Premier position.
However, there were two aspects of support.
Firstly, Galaraldo, the Military Affairs Departnt’s Pri Minister, exerted effort from above. Zuo Zhaofeng belonged to him, even though he had gradually grasped the situation in the Military Affairs Departnt over the years, pushing a trustworthy ally to occupy a significant vice Premier position would also be helpful.
His position wasn’t stable either, and his good relationship with Gu Hang ant he was never free from criticism, even sneaky moves from Pri Minister Zebert at tis.
He was also wary, fearing that if a serious issue arose between the Central Empire and the Alliance, he would be the first to suffer.
Yet he never considered severing ties with the Alliance or with Gu Hang.
It wasn’t because of his relationship with Gu Hang.
For a political animal like him, without extraordinary influences, emotions wouldn’t replace his thinking.
But from a fundantal interest standpoint, he couldn’t abandon or betray the Alliance.
What was his biggest foundation?
Initially, it was siding with the right faction upon the Sun Lord’s death, packaging and selling off parts of the political legacy of Solaria and the Sun Lord that he could access at a good price.
Subsequently, following a forr High Lord, Minister of Justice Ou Juren, he defeated his then superior, considered the Iron Armor Battle Group’s backer in Holy Terra, Military Affairs Departnt Pri Minister and High Lord Norberto; then, alongside the Pri Minister, he took down Ou Juren.
During this process, he always chose the right side and rose step by step.
But he knew the foundation was extrely unstable. By now, he could be seen as almost a three-family servant, and regardless of what he did next, Zebert wouldn’t trust him.
How could anyone trust soone who constantly switches allegiances and even backstabs his forr bosses?
Zebert probably already wanted to kick him out for a long ti.
They didn’t kick him imdiately because he recently helped take down Ou Juren —no matter how much they wanted to replace him, it wouldn’t be appropriate to oust soone right after granting them benefits and allegiance—they still wanted to maintain so decorum, needed to wait a bit longer.
Adding to this, due to the unexpectedly long duration of the Iron Armor War, it wasn’t advisable to have too much upheaval in the Military Affairs Departnt. Plus, his relationship with Gu Hang, when the West Line was a ss, the North Line had no progress, only the Southern Line was making advances...for many reasons, Galaraldo kept his position.
But continuing like this was not sustainable; without finding a solution, Zebert would eventually target him and remove him from power.
Why hasn’t he been deposed yet?
On one hand, internally at the Military Affairs Departnt, he gradually grew his influence, no longer just an outsider leader like at the beginning. Over a decade or two, he sowhat managed the internal structure of the Military Affairs Departnt, not purely displaying a politicking deanor.
But honestly, this factor alone wasn’t enough to keep him in that position.
A larger factor lies in the very point where he was always criticized: his closeness with Gu Hang, like wearing the sa pants, and the Alliance of today being exceptionally powerful.
His good relationship with Gu Hang, who had a ’notorious reputation’ in Central Empire, coupled with him being a three-family servant unloved by Zebert, what’s the reason he hasn’t fallen?
