Raising his head to glance at the floors with scattered lights, Fang Cheng pressed the mini-communicator hanging by his ear, asking in a low voice as he quickly ascended the stairs:

"Still inside?"

"Still inside."

Monkey’s voice ca imdiately:

"Haven’t seen the target co out."

"You and Big Hamr keep an eye on the exit of the corridor, don’t let anyone escape."

"Understood."

Cutting off the communication, Fang Cheng’s figure flashed and imrsed into the darkness of the corridor.

His steps were light and swift, landing on the concrete stairs like cotton falling to the ground, almost without a sound.

In the blink of an eye, he reached the ninth floor.

The lighting bulb in the corridor had long been broken, enveloping the surroundings in darkness, filled with a moldy sll and the scent of cooking smoke.

Only the faint light seeping from a few households loosely outlined the cluttered passage full of debris.

Fang Cheng’s eyes glead brightly, like a leopard hunting in the night, swiftly scanning the area.

Apart from the discarded old furniture and cardboard boxes in the corridor, there was no one in sight, nor any signs of an ambush.

So...

Fang Cheng’s gaze sharpened, his sight piercing through the darkness, landing on one of the door numbers — 908.

That was his ho.

Fang Cheng slowed his breathing, his muscles quietly tensed, as he silently approached step by step.

As he passed the entrance of 906, the loud voice of the neighbor, Aunt He, ca from inside:

"Xiui, did you forget to turn off the faucet again after your shower? So much water is wasting!"

"Ah, I forgot! I’ll go turn it off right now!"

Zhou Xiui’s slightly confused voice promptly followed.

Listening to this familiar yet trivial conversation, Fang Cheng remained expressionless, but his eyes grew colder.

His fist clenched, joints emitting a slight creaking sound.

He quickened his pace slightly, passing by room 906.

Finally, he stopped at his doorway.

With his extraordinary sensory perception, Fang Cheng keenly noticed an anomaly.

On the concrete floor beneath the door handle, there was a drop of dark red stain not fully dried.

Blood?

Fang Cheng’s pupils slightly contracted.

He took a deep breath, then turned sideways, gently pressing his ear against the cold security door.

Invisible ripples spread outward, penetrating the thick door panel into the darkness beyond.

Noises from the surrounding residents were completely filtered out, leaving only the disturbances within the room before him.

A series of extrely faint, yet sowhat hurried and chaotic breathing sounds were clearly captured, entering his eardrums.

Soone was inside.

Moreover, they seed to be injured?

Fang Cheng’s eyes flickered slightly, thoughts racing through his mind before he swiftly made a decision.

Then he slowly pulled out a key from his pocket, grasped the door handle, and deliberately produced a crisp tallic clink.

"Click."

The door lock softly echoed, the latch retracting.

Fang Cheng pushed open the door, gently closing it behind him without touching the switch on the wall.

Inside, the room was pitch black, with the curtains tightly drawn, blocking out any street light.

But for Fang Cheng, this level of darkness did not hinder his vision in the slightest.

With just a glance, he locked onto a corner of the living room.

In the shadows beside the wardrobe, a human figure was curled up.

Fang Cheng pretended not to notice anything, casually strolling a few steps in the living room, muttering to himself:

"Power’s out?"

Speaking as he groped his way to the table, picking up the teapot:

"Ah, so thirsty, gotta have a drink first."

At the mont his fingers touched the teacup, the person hidden in the shadows seed to let out a sigh of relief, with a minute pause in their breathing rhythm.

This is it!

The laziness in Fang Cheng’s eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a suffocating intent to kill.

"Bang!"

The red pine floor beneath his feet suddenly shattered.

Fang Cheng’s whole body shot forward like a cannonball, trailing a sharp sonic boom, instantly crossing three ters.

So fast!

The person in the shadows had no ti to react, just feeling darkness before them, overpowered by a terrifying force.

"Ugh!"

Fang Cheng’s right hand clamped down on the person’s throat like iron tongs, lifting them upward with trendous montum.

"Thud!"

A muffled sound echoed as the person was violently hoisted, slamd against the wall, causing plaster dust to fall.

Imdiately after, Fang Cheng’s knee jerked upward, pressing into the person’s abdon, instantly nullifying any resistance.

"Cough... cough!"

A painful groan escaped from the person, their body instinctively trying to struggle.

Only to find themselves utterly immobilized under the absolute strength of the opponent, unable to even move a finger.

"Fang... Fang Cheng... it’s ..."

A hoarse voice squeezed out from between the fingers with difficulty.

Fang Cheng frowned, the voice sounded sowhat familiar.
