Just at this mont, a rustling sound shattered the deathly silence.
Several shadowy figures, like ghosts, appeared within the fog
and seed to be swiftly floating towards them, growing in numbers.
Lin Chuqiao’s heart tightened, and she imdiately lowered her voice to warn:
"Bai Ling, Big Hamr, get ready for battle, those ghostly figures seem to be getting closer to us!"
All three of them quickly stood back-to-back, adopting a defensive formation, watching their surroundings intently.
When those figures ca closer and the fog slightly dispersed, Lin Chuqiao realized with shock that they were actually a group of living humans.
Yet before they could start communicating, that group caught sight of Lin Chuqiao and her companions, their faces filled with horror as if witnessing the most terrifying sight imaginable, and they shouted:
"Run, those ghostly figures will devour you!"
Lin Chuqiao was startled, instinctively lifting her eyes to look.
Behind them, so bizarre shadows had quietly erged without notice.
So were hunched, like elderly people nearing death, others were long and twisted, as if reshaped at will by evil magic.
These shadows had indistinct forms, their faces hard to discern, as if they were evil ghosts crawling out from the eighteenth layer of hell, ready to devour humans.
Just looking at them from afar, one could feel an eerie aura that chilled the spine and made the mind tremble.
Even more terrifying was that behind these ghost-like shadows, an even denser black mist rolled forward with a mountain-shifting and sea-overturning force, as if it was about to engulf everything in endless darkness.
Everyone was engulfed by fear, fleeing wildly in different directions.
Lin Chuqiao, along with Bai Ling and Big Hamr, did not hesitate to join the escape.
The sound of frantic footsteps and terrified shouts blended together, making the already dreadful atmosphere seem as hopeless as the apocalypse.
Those unfortunate ones at the very back seed to have been grabbed by cold tentacles extending from the darkness.
In the blink of an eye, they were surrounded by ghostly figures, then with a series of sharp and short screams, they were rcilessly swallowed by the wave of black mist, disappearing completely.
These Treasure Hunters, who usually made waves, possessing special abilities, were now utterly powerless in the face of such an unknown bizarre phenonon, as vulnerable as lambs to the slaughter.
Everyone was listening to the screams coming from behind, their feet not daring to stop for even a mont.
It was as if a single pause would allow the evil ghosts to claim their lives, dragging them into the endless Dark Abyss.
Until the wave of black mist that seed ready to engulf the world suddenly ca to an unpredicted stop, they dared to halt their steps and take a breath, panting where they stood.
Lin Chuqiao was no longer able to run, supporting herself with her hands on her knees, her chest heaving heavily.
She gasped for breath, her gaze sweeping over her surroundings, discovering that their party now had about half the people it had earlier.
So seed to have gotten lost in the dense fog during their panicked flight.
Others were unfortunately swallowed by the black mist, becoming victims of this eerie place.
Fortunately, Bai Ling and Big Hamr were still by her side, bringing Lin Chuqiao so comfort.
After resting for a mont, she fixed her eyes on the now calm area behind them.
Those eerie shadows were lurking within the black mist, faintly discernible, baring their fangs and brandishing their claws, yet not advancing any further.
As if they were blocked by an invisible barrier.
On the other side, also shrouded in fog, was noticeably darker and more chaotic, resembling an unfathomably deep black hole that emitted a dangerous aura.
The boundaries were distinctly marked, like a poisonous circle no one dared to cross, trapping both the people and the ghostly shadows within.
