At least, he didn’t want to expose his contact with "Mr. Assassin" to Noah.

Otherwise, the ones who showed up here right now might not just be these small fry who aren’t even qualified to deliver him groceries.

However, this precisely proved Chen Chen’s cunning and caution.

He wanted to use him as a tool but didn’t want to take too much risk.

Those thugs saw Fang Cheng silent and thought he was going to kill them.

They began to cry and plead, swearing all sorts of oaths, saying they had elders and children to care for, and were just trying to make a living.

Fang Cheng turned a deaf ear to their pleas, calculating his own plans.

Killing a few small pawns had little aning other than venting so desire.

After a brief thought, Fang Cheng coldly said:

"Want to live?"

The three sober thugs nodded frantically like chickens pecking at rice upon hearing this.

"Go back and tell Chen Chen."

Fang Cheng’s voice was deep, devoid of any emotion:

"Since he wants to cooperate, he should show so sincerity and act according to the rules."

"I hate people who don’t follow the rules. Don’t play these petty tricks behind my back."

"This ti, I can pretend nothing happened. If there’s a next ti..."

"Crack!" A crisp sound.

The armrest of the seat beside him broke in response, casually tossed at the feet of the thugs.

A chilling murderous intent suddenly seeped into Fang Cheng’s tone:

"I’ll personally go to the Yuanchen Group Building to have a good talk with Mr. Chen."

Even through the mask, the cold and piercing killing intent made the three thugs feel like they had fallen into an ice cave, their hair standing on end.

They nodded and bowed hastily, swearing to deliver the ssage verbatim.

Fang Cheng ignored them further, opened the car door, and tossed them out like garbage.

The van emitted a low roar and swiftly disappeared into the night.

The city’s hustle gradually faded, the night wind carried a slight chill.

Fang Cheng returned to the tubular building and, taking out his keys, opened the door to find the living room light still on.

His mother, Li Biyun, was sitting on the sofa with an old, tattered cookbook in her hands, seemingly studying sothing.

Hearing the door open, she imdiately looked up, a smile appearing on her face:

"Chengcheng, you’re back? Is studying tiring?"

As she spoke, a faint aroma of porridge wafted from the kitchen.

"Mom, why aren’t you asleep yet? Didn’t I tell you not to wait up for ?"

Fang Cheng changed his shoes, his tone carrying a hint of exasperation.

The clock on the wall had already passed 11 o’clock.

"It’s fine, I’m used to working late in the hospital, can’t sleep at this ti."

Li Biyun got up and headed to the kitchen.

"Seeing how hard you’ve been studying lately, I made so sea cucumber millet porridge to nourish your stomach and improve immunity. Drink it while it’s hot."

Fang Cheng felt a warmth in his heart.

The excuse for sneaking out was to study at a nearby study room, preparing for the upcoming grad school exam retake.

Since the study atmosphere there was good, with many exam candidates to exchange experiences.

His mother believed it completely and always tried her best to care for him in life.

Watching his mother bustling in the kitchen and the steaming bowl of millet porridge on the table.

Scenes from the shabby little room suddenly flashed through Fang Cheng’s mind.

He thought of Xiao Shuai and the blind old mother who silently sacrificed for her son.

Two completely different families, two mothers who both deeply loved their sons, seed to create so miraculous overlap at that mont.

"Mom, don’t stay up late waiting for anymore, it’s bad for your skin and causes wrinkles."

Fang Cheng picked up the bowl of porridge and softly spoke.

"Got it, talkative as always."

Li Biyun jokingly chided, her gentle crow’s feet smoothing out with a smile.

"Drink up and rest early."

After finishing the porridge and chatting with his mother about family matters for a while, Fang Cheng washed his face and feet, then returned to his bedroom.

Once he closed the door, the room instantly fell into silence.
