As for "Magic Rune Introduction" and "Mage Promotion Path," Li Qing only skimd through them. Magic runes mostly involve knowledge about arranging magic arrays and enchantnts; one can learn the runes, but for now, the focus is still on learning Level 0 Magic.
And the "Mage Promotion Path" just describes the standards for mage ranks and the various paths derived from magic.
Demon Swordmasters, Warlocks, Priests, Knights, and dozens of other career paths.
For Li Qing, at present, this is completely aningless, unless he reaches the level of an Advanced Magic Apprentice and has ti to study them for career advancent.
Lost in thought, he walked halfway when a voice suddenly ca from beside him.
"Student from the human world, are you heading to the library?"
Li Qing jolted awake and turned to see the other person in black robes, then relaxed again. Walking along the foggy, unclear road certainly felt eerie.
Though Gray Magic Academy prohibits student fights, the other person’s alluring manner as they approached clearly harbored no good intentions.
This guy was hunched over, with a large body that still managed to stand at least a ter ninety in height.
And Li Qing precisely caught the "student from the human world" he ntioned, further verifying his suspicions.
Li Qing calmly said, "Fellow student, is there sothing you need?"
"Hey~ don’t be so wary of everything. You humans always hold an imnse hostility towards beings different from humans."
He shrugged with a laid-back tone, "My na is Hertos, and you are?"
"...Blind Monk."
"Blind Monk? That’s an odd na. Sounds like you’re blind." Hertos pointed to himself, quite proudly, "Listen to my na, Hertos!"
Li Qing casually asked, "Does your na an sothing significant where you co from?"
"Of course, I, Hertos, will return from the Abyss and sweep away all who oppose , slaughtering all whom I detest!"
Hertos spoke in a low tone, with words that tasted of blood to Li Qing.
"That’s quite a... formidable aning."
"And you, why did you co to Gray?"
By now, Li Qing still didn’t know what Gray Magic Academy truly represented, only understanding that Gray was definitely synonymous with evil.
Raising his head to look at the gray sky, and the depressive atmosphere as if he had entered the Underworld; with fog all around, the distant buildings were hazy and indistinct.
He could guarantee that without the school emblem, he would undoubtedly get lost in this ghostly place.
"Of course, to learn magic."
"Ha?!"
Hertos seed to hear sothing utterly absurd. After a long while, he muttered, "A human coming to Gray to learn magic is the joke of the century, don’t you know that Gray is only a place for devils."
Li Qing was slightly shaken internally, yet he calmly said, "You can learn so different magic here."
"Hmm, you’re right about that, given that Gray is best at dealing with devils."
He laughed sharply and pointedly, "So far, I’ve eaten several devils myself."
Li Qing remained silent, shocked, horrified, a sequence of expressions followed by confusion.
Devils, can be eaten?
When they reached the library, Hertos waved, "Nice eting you, Blind Monk, I’m heading into the library now, so good luck."
Without waiting for Li Qing’s reply, Hertos pushed open the old door engraved with countless carvings, stepping unhesitatingly into the shadows.
Strange, we’re both entering the library, and he wishes luck?
Li Qing gazed at the castle-like library building ahead, made of massive gray stones, its sprawling structure with layered gray brick hues made the whole building look dark and somber.
This wasn’t a library; it was the entrance to the Nazarick Underground Tomb!
With a hint of mockery in his heart, Li Qing stepped up the stairs, arriving before the library’s door full of strange engravings.
As his hand gently touched it, the school emblem suddenly lit up, intense magical waves spread continuously, then connected onto the door engravings.
Buzz!
A barely noticeable sound ca from the door, then all magical waves dissipated, and the door quietly opened.
Unable to see inside, it seed all was enveloped in shadows, unclear and indistinct.
Cryptic, dark, filled with a repulsive aura.
Despite his inner resistance, Li Qing stepped forward steadily.
Thud!
The silent sound of the library door closing echoed, prompting Li Qing to glance back. He stood still for a while until his vision gradually adjusted to the environnt, viewing rows of bookshelves that extended to the horizon, illuminated by an unknown dark light source.
Where is Hertos?
Li Qing silently scanned around, not overly concerned at present. In Gray, everyone had their secrets, so he only had to mind his own business. Just as he turned toward the bookshelves, a familiar voice ca from the side.
"Human student, a friendly reminder, if you’re not strong enough, looking into high-level magic books might get you eaten~."
This tone, this teasing voice, was certainly Zhuang Xu.
He turned his head, eyes widened, looking into the corner shadows; only then did he see the outline of a desk, behind which Zhuang Xu, dressed in black robes, seed to rge with the darkness.
Li Qing cautiously said, "Oh, it’s Tutor Zhuang Xu, hello!"
The lanky Zhuang Xu laughed oddly, leaning forward, finally letting Li Qing see him clearly.
Zhuang Xu folded his hands on the desk, his scarlet eyes sizing up Li Qing with interest.
After a while, he said with a surprised look, "You seem to have condensed magic power?"
Suddenly standing, his nearly two-ter-five tall, lanky structure brought a sense of pressure, making the air feel slightly heavier.
Li Qing stood still, his hands clenched tightly beneath his sleeves, staring unmoving as Zhuang Xu seed to be sniffing nearby.
After a while, Zhuang Xu sat back down.
"Interesting... You’ve piqued my interest, adding so spice to my otherwise dull days." Zhuang Xu lowered his hands with great interest, "Now, for a human with such a short lifespan, what talents did you awaken after becoming a mage at thirty?"
Without waiting for Li Qing’s response, he shrugged, "Alright, leaving that aside, what are you looking for in the library?"
