Chapter 53: If I Can’t Stand the Sight of You, I’ll Hit You

Hein Manfred was the third son of the head of the Manfred Family.

Although he was the third son, he also possessed magical talent.

His magic talent was B-rank.

Barring any surprises, his future limit would be that of a B-rank Mage.

The family inheritance would never fall to him.

So the strength of a B-rank Mage was more than enough for him to live a life of pleasure.

That much was obvious just from the look on his face.

At such a young age, he was already spending every night in revelry.

Ryan estimated that sooner or later, the man would die in a woman’s bed.

The reason Isabella’s face had turned ugly upon seeing Hein was that Hein was the person who had slandered Isabella more than anyone else.

Because the Manfred Family and the Jurgen Family were both great families,

the higher-ups of the two houses regarded the matter between Hein and Isabella as nothing more than childish squabbling.

So it had never caused much of a stir.

It was just that all those rumors and insults had made Isabella increasingly withdrawn.

“Heh, Isabella, if I had talent as poor as yours, only D-rank, then I’d rather kill myself outright. As the direct-line eldest daughter of the Jurgen Family, your very existence is a disgrace.”

“I heard you used to hide in your house all day and didn’t even dare co out and face people. So why did you suddenly co out today?”

Hein’s words made Isabella’s body tremble slightly.

Nila and Nika were furious as well after hearing him.

What Hein said was simply too cruel.

Why should soone with only D-rank talent have to hide away and never show their face?

There were still many people in this world who did not even have magical talent at all.

In truth, Isabella knew very well why it was like this.

It was because her father was the hero of the Jurgen Family.

Alfred’s unmatched strength was admired not only within the Jurgen Family, but by other families as well.

And so, everyone’s expectations for Isabella had been raised far too high.

Unfortunately, a mighty father had begotten a disappointing daughter.

Once those enormous expectations turned into disappointnt, what followed was endless mockery.

Faced with so much ridicule, the fact that Isabella had rely beco withdrawn and hidden herself at ho without going out already showed that her ntal fortitude was remarkably strong.

Of course, that was also because Alfred and Greta had never once given up on her and had always encouraged her.

Otherwise, if it had been soone else, that person would likely have broken down long ago and taken her own life.

Ryan frowned and looked at Hein.

The man had only just t them and was already lashing into Isabella.

His two lackeys were echoing him from the side.

At the sa ti, Marcus had already arrived at Isabella’s side.

Although he said nothing, rely standing behind Isabella allowed her to feel a powerful strength.

That strength supported her and kept her from collapsing.

Ryan cast a discreet glance at Marcus.

By coincidence, Marcus looked at Ryan as well.

Then Marcus gave a slight nod.

“Haa...”

Ryan took a deep breath, and his eyes narrowed.

The three of them had been yapping here for quite a while already, and Ryan had been on the verge of beating them up.

Mr. Marcus had just given him a signal.

There was no need to worry about their guards.

Even if Ryan made a move,

it would only count as a scuffle between juniors. It was nothing serious.

At that thought, Ryan did not hesitate for even a mont and instantly appeared in front of Hein.

“Trash. Is your mouth so foul because you just ate a pile of shit?”

As he spoke, Ryan threw a punch straight at Hein’s face.

BANG!

A heavy impact rang out.

“Urgh—ahhh!”

Hein scread as he was sent flying backward.

While he was airborne, everyone seed to see a white tooth fly through the air.

It was obvious that Ryan had put all his strength into that punch and had knocked one of Hein’s teeth clean out.

“Ah! Y-you... you...”

When the two lackeys saw their master get punched away by Ryan, they froze on the spot in shock.

Ryan did not let those two off either.

He darted in front of them in a few quick steps and threw two punches.

BANG! BANG!

Two heavy blows sounded out.

“Urgh—ahhh!” x2

The two lackeys were sent flying as well.

One to the left, one to the right, both crashing heavily beside Hein.

Right after that, Ryan walked over to Hein, stretched out his right hand, and patted Hein’s face.

“Well? Why aren’t you talking now? Don’t you like talking?”

“Talk! Weren’t you running your mouth just fine a mont ago?”

Ryan roared.

The three boys’ guards wanted to attack Ryan, but in the next instant, they felt an overwhelming pressure descend upon them, fixing them in place.

Under that pressure, even taking a single step forward was incredibly difficult.

“Wuuuugh... wuuugh? (Who exactly are you?)”

Hein’s speech was slurred from the beating.

But Ryan understood him with ease.

“You’re asking who I am?”

“Wuuugh, wuuugh, mm-hmm...”

BANG!

Ryan did not answer. Instead, he planted his foot directly on Hein’s face.

With that, Hein’s face made intimate contact with the ground.

“You don’t need to care who I am. I just don’t like the sight of you. Beating you up once is already letting you off easy. If I ever find out that you’re bullying Isabella again, then every ti I see you, I’ll beat you once. Rember my na. I’m Lei Feng!”

Ryan then turned to look at the two lackeys. “The sa goes for you two!”

“Ugh... Y-Yes... We won’t dare do it again...” x2

When had they ever seen sothing like this before?

Ever since the two of them had started following Hein, they had always thrown their weight around under his protection.

After all, if anything happened, Hein’s guards would handle it.

But they had no idea what was wrong today.

Hein’s guards had not protected the three of them. Instead, each of them was just standing there motionless.

“Hmph.”

Ryan gave a cold snort, then straightened up and looked toward Isabella.

At that mont, Isabella was looking at Ryan with worship in her eyes.

Whenever she had faced this kind of mockery in the past, she had only endured it in silence.

Because she believed that what the other party said was true.

Her existence really had brought sha upon the Jurgen Family.

It was only because her father and mother had spent so many years guiding her and encouraging her

that she had managed to endure until now and had not gone to extres.

But because of their status, her father and mother could not directly step in and punish people like Hein on her behalf.

Today, when Hein and the others mocked her again,

she had originally wanted nothing more than to flee ho at once.

Who could have expected that Ryan would actually step forward and help her teach Hein and the others a lesson?

That caused Isabella’s favorability toward Ryan to soar.

She had once heard a story from her mother.

Every girl would have a hero destined for her.

That hero would appear by her side when she encountered difficulties, riding seven-colored clouds, and help her resolve them.

Now, when Isabella looked at Ryan, she felt as though he were shining.

That radiance...

It seed like the radiance of her hero.

Ryan naturally noticed Isabella’s gaze.

He simply did not think too much of it.

He only took it as Isabella feeling moved after he had helped her.

That said,

showing off really did feel good.

Especially when, after showing off, he could earn the admiration of a cute girl like Isabella.

That was twice the satisfaction, then doubled again.

Ryan found that he was starting to fall in love with that feeling.

He was even looking forward to the next ti he ran into a blockhead like Hein.

When that happened, he would definitely beat the other party until teeth littered the ground again.

In the literal sense.

Now that sothing like this had happened, no one felt like continuing their shopping trip.

Their good mood had been completely ruined by Hein.

“Let’s go back.”

Ryan said flatly.

Nila and Nika looked toward Isabella, waiting for her to speak.

“Since Mr. Ryan says so, then let’s go back.”

Isabella said timidly.

Everyone nodded at her words.

Afterward, they returned to where the carriage was waiting.

One after another, they boarded the carriage.

Ryan was the last one.

As Isabella passed by Ryan, she paused slightly and said in a soft voice, “Mr. Ryan, thank you for standing up for .”

After saying that, Isabella did not wait for Ryan’s reply and quickly climbed into the carriage.

Ryan was briefly stunned, then laughed.

Was this what people called covering one’s ears while stealing a bell?

He noticed that Isabella’s ears had turned red as well.

That brief word of thanks had probably gathered up an unknown amount of courage before she could say it.

If she wanted to thank him, she could have just said so directly.

Why run off the mont she finished?

Had she forgotten that Ryan needed to board the carriage too?

Ryan shook his head and climbed into the carriage in a few quick steps.

After entering, Ryan discovered that Isabella’s expression had already returned to normal.

Mr. Marcus drove the carriage back toward the castle.

“Young Lady, please don’t take Hein’s words to heart.”

Nila comforted her.

“Don’t worry, Nila. I’ve already recovered. Actually, what Hein said just now was nothing much. Back then, I heard things far worse than what Hein said. Compared to those, today was only a small matter.”

Isabella spoke in a tone of feigned indifference.

“Young Lady...”

Nila looked at Isabella with sympathy.

Nika wore the sa expression.

They knew that Isabella had once heard many cruel rumors and insults.

But they had never seen it with their own eyes, nor experienced it personally.

Today was the first ti.

Yet what had they just heard?

What Hein said today did not even count for much?

There had been things even worse than Hein’s words in the past?

It was hard to imagine what kind of environnt Isabella had grown up in.

In truth, it was very simple.

Compared to the opinions of outsiders,

what Isabella cared about most was the opinions of her parents.

She was afraid that her parents, like everyone else, would think that she was useless and that she was the sha of the Jurgen Family.

If her parents had thought that too, then she certainly would not have lived until now. She would have killed herself long ago out of guilt and self-reproach.

Fortunately, her parents had never once given up on her, nor had they ever blad her.

She had grown up surrounded by her parents’ love.

Love was the greatest power in this world.

The love of her parents had supported her until this very day.

Ryan and Nika had known Isabella for more than a month.

Nila had served as Isabella’s maid for around two months.

But only today did it feel as though they had truly co to know Isabella.

On the surface, this girl looked extrely fragile,

but inside, she was extraordinarily strong.
