Starting with a Military Arms System I Rise to Dominate Another World Chapter 57 : Chapter 57
Chapter 57: The Road of Escape
At the sa ti, inside the Jurgen Family castle.
Isabella stood by the window, gazing outside.
Her eyes were filled with worry.
There was no helping it.
It was not only her father who had gone out to face the enemy. Even her mother had gone with him.
The thought of her parents fighting outside left Isabella deeply anxious.
But no matter how worried she was, it would not change anything.
If she went, her strength would only hold them back.
So the best thing she could do was stay here and wait for the outco.
“Young Miss, do not worry. The Family Head is so strong. He will definitely win!”
Nila comforted her softly.
Knock, knock, knock!
“Young Miss, may we co in?”
“Please co in.”
Isabella responded.
Nila opened the door and looked at Nika and Ryan standing outside.
“Elder Sister, what brings you and Mr. Ryan here?”
“Nila, fighting has broken out outside the castle, so we ca to check on the Young Miss.”
Nika spoke softly.
“Even Lady Greta went out to face the enemy?”
Ryan’s voice rang out.
“Yes. When Mother was young, she was also a famous adventurer. She t Father during one of her journeys, and in the end, they beca husband and wife.”
Isabella nodded slightly, then lowered her head.
She was still blaming herself in her heart.
If only she were stronger.
Then at a ti like this, she could stand beside her parents and fight with them.
Instead of being forced to remain here, doing nothing but waiting in fear and worry.
“Young Miss, as long as you keep training, then the next ti enemies co, you will be able to fight alongside your parents.”
Seeing through Isabella’s thoughts, Nika spoke calmly.
Nika’s words made Isabella’s eyes light up.
That was right. As long as she started training hard from now on,
then the next ti sothing like this happened, she would not have to wait helplessly anymore.
Isabella raised her head, just about to thank Nika.
Knock, knock, knock!
Soone pounded urgently on Isabella’s door.
Hearing the knocking, everyone turned toward the entrance.
Nila walked to the door and opened it.
“W-Where is the Young Miss? Quickly, quickly take to the Young Miss!”
A male guard rushed in.
Nila recognized him at once.
He was one of the guards who had gone with Alfred to fight outside the castle.
Had the battle ended?
But if it had ended, should it not have been Alfred returning to see Isabella?
Why had a guard co back instead?
Ryan could not make sense of it!
However, in the next instant, the guard’s words answered every question in his mind.
The guard hurried over to Isabella and said urgently, “Young Miss, you must leave at once!”
“Because of Butler Marcus’s betrayal, Lady Greta was taken hostage, and Alfred has already been expelled from the Jurgen Family by Hermann.”
“...”
For a brief mont, it felt as if ti had frozen inside the room.
Very quickly, Nila cried out, “What? Marcus betrayed the Family Head?”
“N-No, that is impossible. How could Marcus betray my father?”
Isabella was filled with disbelief as well.
Marcus had already been serving as the castle’s butler since before Isabella was even born.
It had been more than ten years by now.
Anyone else might have betrayed them.
But Marcus should have been the one person who never would.
Clearly, the guard’s words had dealt an enormous blow to Isabella’s young heart.
Ryan, on the other hand, listened to the guard’s report with a calm expression.
Only now did he understand why Alfred’s two elder brothers had dared to declare war.
So they had long since turned Marcus to their side.
Because Marcus had been in the castle for more than ten years, no one had ever imagined that he would betray them.
“Young Miss, I swear on my life that everything I am saying is true.”
The guard panted heavily and continued, “The Family Head was locked in fierce battle at the front, and Marcus attacked Lady Greta from behind. With Lady Greta taken hostage, the Family Head had no choice but to surrender.”
“Hermann has now expelled the Family Head from the family and is bringing Lady Greta back under guard. What awaits her will surely be house arrest.”
“Before setting out, the Family Head gave an order. If anything unexpected happened, I was to return to the castle, take the Young Miss, and help her escape. Under no circumstances must she be captured and placed under house arrest by Hermann.”
“Father...”
As Isabella listened to the guard’s words, tears stread uncontrollably down her face.
Ryan narrowed his eyes.
It seed Alfred had already foreseen this possibility.
That was why he had arranged in advance for one of his subordinates to take Isabella away safely.
Ryan shot Nika a look.
Nika imdiately understood. She turned and went back to the guest room, retrieving both her own and Ryan’s spatial backpack.
Their luggage had already been packed earlier and was ready to go at any ti.
Isabella was still imrsed in grief.
Seeing that, Nila called out, “Young Miss, forgive !”
Then she began swiftly packing their things.
In only two minutes, she had gathered all the necessities.
At the sa ti, Nika returned with Ryan’s spatial backpack.
Thud! Thud!
The sound of heavy footsteps ca from outside the window.
It seed Hermann’s n were about to enter the castle.
No doubt their target was Isabella.
One hostage alone—Greta—was clearly not enough.
They still needed Isabella as well.
Only with two hostages in hand would Hermann have no fear of Alfred making a coback.
Ryan rolled his neck and wrists.
Looking at the situation now, there was no way they could leave the castle peacefully.
He took out the P90 submachine gun, preparing for a brutal fight.
But the mont Nila saw Ryan take out his weapon, she imdiately said, “Mr. Ryan, we do not need to confront them head-on. We can leave through the castle’s secret passage.”
“Oh? There is a secret passage?”
Ryan lifted a brow.
Just when things had seed darkest, hope appeared.
He had already prepared himself for a vicious battle.
Yet Nila had unexpectedly revealed that this castle had a secret passage.
Then what were they waiting for?
They needed to move, now.
If they could leave safely, Ryan had no desire to fight.
With that many people around, sothing could easily go wrong.
“That is right. The Family Head had this secret passage specially prepared for the Young Miss, in case an unusual situation ever arose. I believe today is exactly the day to use it.”
Nila nodded slightly.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”
Ryan said.
Nila turned to Isabella. “Young Miss, there is no ti to grieve now. We must leave imdiately. Only if you escape successfully will the Family Head and Lady Greta be free of worries.”
“Otherwise, once Hermann places you under house arrest, then even if the Family Head has the strength to return, his hands will still be tied.”
Hearing Nila’s words, Isabella raised her head.
No one knew whether it was only their imagination,
but it felt as if the Isabella who lifted her head now was no longer the sa person as before.
Perhaps this was what people ant when they said that hardship made soone grow up quickly.
Isabella put away the grief in her heart.
She knew Nila was right.
The situation was extrely dangerous now.
Only if she escaped the castle would her father have a chance to return.
“But my mother...”
“Young Miss, Lady Greta will only be placed under house arrest. And please rest assured, as long as the Family Head is still alive, Hermann will not dare harm Lady Greta. After all, he does not want to face a family head driven mad by the loss of his wife!”
“All right. I understand. Let’s go.”
Isabella followed Nila to the entrance of the secret passage.
“And you? What will you do?”
Isabella looked at the guard who had co to deliver the warning.
“Young Miss, you go first. I will buy you so ti.”
With that, the guard picked up his sword and ran toward the door.
As he left, his gaze t Ryan’s.
He knew about Ryan.
He just did not know whether Ryan would protect the Young Miss for the Family Head’s sake.
Yet to his surprise, as he passed by Ryan, Ryan gave him a firm nod.
Between n, sotis a single look spoke more clearly than a thousand words.
The guard said nothing. He only returned Ryan’s gaze with solemn resolve.
He understood.
He had understood the aning in Ryan’s eyes.
Ryan would protect the Young Miss in his place.
That was enough.
That alone was enough.
Then let him buy the Young Miss as much ti as he could to escape!
Bang!
After the guard ran out, the door slamd shut.
The four people in the room no longer hesitated.
Ryan and Nika followed Isabella and Nila to the entrance of the secret passage.
Then, one after another, the four of them entered it.
The passage was extrely dark.
Fortunately, Isabella knew a few simple lighting spells.
There was a great deal of dust inside the passage.
Ryan guessed that this secret passage had never been used since the day it was built.
Normally, no one ca in here at all, which was why it had ended up like this.
In the darkness, it was impossible to feel the passage of ti.
No one knew how long had passed.
Ten minutes?
Twenty minutes?
Or an hour?
After enduring the darkness for what felt like a long ti, the four of them finally saw the light again.
At last, they had walked out of the secret passage.
Its exit was in the middle of a forest.
They erged inside a small wooden cabin hidden among the trees.
The shabby little cabin looked as though no one had visited it in a very long ti.
But that was for the best.
“Whew! We finally made it out.”
Nila let out a long breath and asked, “Young Miss, how are you feeling?”
“I am all right.”
Isabella replied softly.
“Nika, go up and take a look. Find out where we are.”
Ryan gave the order.
“Yes, Master.”
After receiving Ryan’s command, Nika easily climbed up into a large tree.
Then she looked around.
She spotted the castle.
After that, she jumped back down from the tree.
“Master, the castle is roughly eight hundred ters to our northwest.”
“Eight hundred ters?”
Ryan muttered to himself.
A distance of eight hundred ters was not safe enough when it ca to Mages.
A Mage skilled in wind magic could fly.
They could cover eight hundred ters in the blink of an eye.
“There is no telling when they might begin pursuing us. We need to leave as quickly as possible.”
Ryan said softly.
“Mm, Mr. Ryan, we will follow your lead.”
Isabella nodded.
Nila said nothing.
She knew that if they wanted to escape successfully, they would have to rely on Ryan.
