When Kaede handed the report to , I could see a newfound determination in her expression. Her trust in to get it done like I said I would was so high that her hesitation had all but dissipated from her head.
"Thank you, Yanagi-san. Let look through this first." I said before turning to the two girls in the room, "Komoe, look after her. And senpai, can you help with this?"
Komoe swiftly nodded, brought her classmate to sit down, and served her a cup of tea.
As for Minami Shouko, she stared at for a few seconds as she was quite in disbelief that I'd call for help.
In her mind, she's likely convinced that whatever problems the Track and Field Club had, it would be an easy task for to solve.
"Do you really need here, Onoda-kun? I stayed because you told to wait here, but... President and Kojima-san said I should join them in the conference room." Minami Shouko said as she walked over.
Yeah. Her talents would be better suited in helping them. And with her current position as the General Affairs Officer, she'd truly be an asset to them.
"Do you not want to help here, senpai?"
"That's not what I'm saying... Ugh. You're all a pain in my ass. You just wanted to work to the bone, right?"
"Not exactly, this is just wanting to show you that I'm not forgetting my promise to you."
"There you go again... Fine." She pouted a bit but the small satisfied smile that flashed on her face didn’t escape my notice.
I smirked at her reluctant acceptance and gestured for her to take a seat next to .
“Then, let’s go over this together. The sooner we get through it, the sooner you can join the committee.”
Minami Shouko rolled her eyes but didn't argue further. She leaned forward to report with as we flipped through the pages, her sharp eyes scanning through the contents quickly.
On the other hand, Kaede was already sitting quietly with Komoe. Her hands were clasped around the teacup, waiting for our response. Although her determination was strong, there was an undeniable hint of concern and nervousness in her eyes.
It was natural. Before eting, she decided to just wait it out but now, she’s taking this big step of confronting the wrongdoing in a club she was once passionate about.
I read through the report alongside Minami Shouko, and as expected, the evidence Kaede compiled was solid.
Accounts of favoritism, misuse of club funds, and even unfair treatnt of mbers who weren’t in the favored circle were all docunted.
Like I suspected, it’s really not just her who was targeted. And it wasn’t just a single senior in the club who was in on it.
"Good job, Kaede," I lifted my gaze from the folder. "This is more than enough to start taking action."
“This is a ss,” Minami Shouko muttered as her frown deepened. “They’ve been getting away with this for too long. Unfortunately, I had no followers in that club.”
I nodded, “It’s fine. Their days are numbered now that we’re onto them.”
She pursed her lips, shifting on her feet. "Are you sure this will work? The ones involved… They’re not just so minor troublemakers. So of them are connected to other clubs and even the faculty."
"I know. But those clubs and faculty mbers are not untouchable.” I grinned with confidence. I an, if I even got the influential Ichihara Jun suspended, what more are a few other faculty mbers? “Trust , Yanagi-san, once we start making moves, they'll have no choice but to answer for what they've done. In the first place, if they can’t take a junior being faster than them, they should’ve trained more."
Komoe, who had been listening quietly, nodded with a serious expression.
Kaede glanced in our direction as her grip on her cup tightened slightly. “What’s the next step, Onoda-kun?”
“I’ll have to confront the captain and the senior mbers involved. But I need to be smart about it. If they catch wind of this before I make my move, those responsible may try to cover their tracks.”
Kaede bit her lip but nodded. “I understand. I’ll do whatever I can to help.”
I smiled at her resolve. “Good. First, let just sign this complaint and have my Disciplinary Office get involved officially. I’ll also bring the report to a Guidance Counselor. With their authority, I can push for an investigation. Once we have that in motion, I’ll personally handle the confrontation.”
Minami Shouko exhaled through her nose, shaking her head. “You’re way too into this kind of thing, Onoda-kun. Or is it because you’re helping a girl.”
“It’s because I’m helping a friend, senpai. Besides, I don’t leave problems unresolved. How can I see Yanagi-san’s smile if she can’t even enjoy the thing she’s passionate about.”
She stared at for a second before sighing in resignation. “Fine.”
When I looked at Kaede, the girl was already bowing in gratitude. I guess running into her earlier in the train was a lucky encounter.
After securing the official report, I quickly signed off on it, ensuring that it carried the necessary authority from the Disciplinary Office. Minami Shouko watched with a knowing smirk. She’s slowly getting accustod to , huh? But thinking about it, this was also going to be my 2nd job since becoming the Disciplinary Officer. First was her pranking incident.
“Alright,” I said, placing my pen down. “I’ll take this to the Guidance Counselor first. Minami-senpai, can you take care of the copies and have them sent to the Student Council? But let’s not disturb the committee proceedings so just leave it at Shizu’s table for tomorrow. It’s enough to have her in the loop.”
She rolled her eyes but took the docunts anyway. “Fine, fine. Just don’t make run around too much, alright?”
I chuckled. “I wouldn’t dare, senpai. And I promise I’ll take care of you later.”
“Eh? What do you an by that?”
“It’s a secret.” I aningfully smiled, leaving her flustered.
With that, I turned my attention to Kaede, who was sitting with her hands clasped together, a mixture of nervousness and determination evident on her face. “Kaede, you’ve done more than enough already. I’ll handle the rest, so try not to worry too much.”
She hesitated for a mont before nodding. “I trust you, Onoda-kun.”
“Hmm. Then let’s go.”
I gathered the docunts and gestured for Kaede and Komoe to follow.
Minami Shouko stayed behind to handle minor tasks in the office while the three of us headed toward the Administration Building.
The walk to the Guidance Counselor’s office wasn’t long, but I took my ti, running through possible scenarios in my head.
Confronting the captain and senior mbers of the club was sothing that wouldn’t really faze , but since I had to handle it officially, it could require so tact.
Like I said earlier, if they caught wind of what was happening, they’d either try to shift the bla onto soone else or erase evidence before an investigation could even start. We have to prevent that.
When we arrived at the office, I knocked once before stepping in.
