Capítulo 1849: Chapter 1848: Space Aberrations

Standing at the town entrance, the Red Butterfly Pendant was taken out by Shard. It trembled slowly in Shard’s palm, then as if it had turned into a living butterfly, it flapped its wings, leaving the palm and flying towards the southwest of the town.

In the mist, the Red Butterfly pulled a dazzling red light trace, allowing Shard and the doctor to follow behind, watching the clearly pointed path of the red light. Just as they barely delved into the town, the night sky began to change.

White mist enveloped the sky above the island, and visibility had dropped to its lowest point. They couldn’t see the moon or the starry sky, but when the doctor looked up, he saw, like Shard did, so ominous green things falling from high above.

“Evil Spirit.”

The doctor whispered, and Shard nodded:

“Space is unstable, as the twin girls at the inn ntioned, projections of dead souls.”

The spatial chaos on Green Lake Central Island was far worse than in surrounding areas. Thus, what happens here may not have happened in the city yet, but it undoubtedly impacts their progress forward.

The green glimrs in the sky weren’t many, and Shard and the doctor could only quicken their pace, following the red butterfly, hoping to dodge a battle. But Lecia’s location was on the other side of the town, so before seeing Lecia, the first soul projection in the sky had already descended before them.

Rather than an evil spirit, it was more apt to describe it as a spatial distortion influenced heavily by spatial power. It was a spirit entity riddled with nurous cracks, possessing three heads, four arms, and three legs. These limbs were not evenly distributed around the spirit but were rather chaotic, with even arms swinging from the waist and neck, proving again that it was forcibly pieced together from multiple spirit projections.

It entirely lacked any rationality, and upon landing, it floated towards the doctor and Shard, the intense malice indicating that battle was inevitable.

“Moonlight Slash!”

Shard raised his hand, sending forth a streak of moonlight into the mist. The strike was precise, but after hitting the target, the space distortion modeled after a spirit entity rely lost an arm. The destructive effect of the Silvermoon Slash was still effective, but the purification trait did not appear.

“This thing can’t be considered a complete evil spirit; it has a stronger spatial attribute.”

Shard quietly reminded the doctor, to which the doctor nodded:

“This island is too strange. Let’s hurry and not linger too long.”

They moved together, with the doctor stretching out his right hand to clutch, transforming his otherwise normal arm instantly into a treelike form wrapped in the pus of “Human Pus”. The massive black hand captured the floating evil spirit, but as the doctor clenched the hand, the spirit vanished without a trace.

“Moonlight Slash!”

Shard grasped the Night Watchman with both hands, executing a Cavalier Slash, the dazzling silver light trace drew an arc, shredding away a large part of the newly appeared multi-headed spatial distortion amidst loud wails.

A black cubus thrown by the doctor landed and turned into a fountain spewing black pus. The distortion above the pus tried to spatially move again but was held in place by Shard’s arcane technique:

“Spatial Stabilization Aura!”

The pitch-black fountain transford into spikes on the ground, piercing through the anomaly’s body between its three legs. Then, with the pierced position as the center, the entire spirit entity was infected by countless tiny black cubes.

Shard and the doctor each took a step back, then united for the final attack:

“Roar!”

The doctor opened his mouth, spewing out crimson flas, the sulfur-scented Fla Demon’s fire engulfing the anomaly completely.

“Moonlight Greatsword!”

Shard tapped his toe, appearing in the mist above and in front of the anomaly, holding the Night Watchman with both hands high above his head, the ‘Moonlight Greatsword’ attaching itself onto the Night Watchman, causing the silver sword to extend several tis forward.

“Ah!”

Silvery moonlight split the monster in flas down the middle, leaving a spectacular silver light trace in the air. The bisected anomaly attempted to rely on its trait to transform into two smaller separate entities to continue battling, but the pink crystallization and black tiny cubes completed the infection of the whole spirit. After the doctor’s flas vanished, only so ashes remained at the spot.

“Troubleso creature.”

Though Shard coordinated well with the doctor, the doctor understood how vexing it would be to encounter this thing alone.

“Indeed problematic, but more concerning is the possibility that this is perhaps the most basic type of monster appearing as the spatial instability increases… The environnt outside the island isn’t this poor; such strong distortions shouldn’t appear.”

Shard bent to collect the ashes left behind after the anomaly’s demise into a test tube; gan, Audrey, and soon-to-arrive Granny Cassandra would likely be able to analyze sothing from these.

At the sa ti Shard and the doctor continued forward, the red-haired princess in the lavish gown on the second floor of an unremarkable three-story building in the southeastern corner of Green Lake Town opened her eyes. To avoid unnecessary trouble, Lecia didn’t illuminate the surroundings with lights, but it wasn’t dark either; her pendant at her waist was emitting a soft red glow.

Through her communication with Dorothy, she knew this ant Shard had arrived nearby with Dr. Schneider, and the Arcane Technique that promised to always protect them truly kept its word.

After a brief whistle and chi, the Ring of Fate appeared behind her for the Five Rings. Lecia looked regretfully at her Spirit Rune, as she had already prepared for the Six Rings ascension ceremony, only to find herself unlucky enough to run into this matter just before ascending.

Before suddenly arriving in this mysterious town, she had been preparing for her date with Shard, and thus was still dressed in a cumberso red skirt. She didn’t carry many spellcasting materials, but fortunately, she kept the most essential relics and the script for casting fairy tale arcane techniques close to her.

Even knowing Shard might appear any second, she felt more cautious and vigilant.

Standing by the window, she gazed at the dense mist outside, then frowned at the eerie sickly green glimr in the sky. Patiently, she listened to all the surrounding sounds, almost frightened by the clear footsteps behind her.

The princess turned around, using the glow of her waist pendant to see a middle-aged man with neatly grood gray hair, wearing a tidy black formal suit, and a monocle, standing not far behind her.

Lecia’s first impression of the stranger was that he seed like Professor Luisa, Dorothy’s father, an educated man. But she knew no ordinary person would appear here.

The stranger took the initiative to greet Lecia, placing his left arm flat on his chest and bowing deeply:

“Princess Lecia Cavendish, welco to my domain.”

Lecia stepped back to the window, frowning slightly:

“You know ?”

“When I noticed you arrived here, I already knew who you were. You and another girl unknown to are the world’s chosen saviors, the world’s last attempt. No, no, please don’t be nervous, I don’t wish to reveal the mission you and she bear. In fact, as long as you survive, you’ve already accomplished the task of coming to this world.”

Lecia didn’t care about what he said:

“Are you Laplace Klein Howard?”

She had heard Shard ntion so details about the Edwards family, after all, the land owned by the Edwards family was also a part of Draleon.

“Yes.”

The graceful and affable middle-aged man looked towards the princess at the window:

“I have no malice towards you, just couldn’t help but want to see what the world attempts right before the apocalypse.”

He shook his head slightly:

“But allow to give you a suggestion—if my plan fails, and I don’t save this world, then please, you and the other girl must beco the Chosen of Space. You shoulder a great mission, and although you shouldn’t easily be swept into the whirlpool of fate of being chosen, ti is running out. Becoming the chosen one will help realize your traits better, you must be at the starting point of a flourishing tree, it’s what you need to do.”

The royal upbringing equipped Lecia with substantive conversation tactics, and she knew she must not get drawn into his train of thought:

“If you rely wish to see , you’ve fulfilled your purpose. Please leave, I’m not here to collect taxes from you, the lord.”

The monocled man gave a small smile, different from the madman Shard described:

“I want to talk to the God Summoner holding [Night Watchman] among the pair rushing here. Though my divination couldn’t discern his true identity, I’m sure he’s acquainted with you. I wish to have a detailed conversation with him, not as an enemy, but an amicable exchange.”

Lecia’s back pressed against the window sill:

“But I don’t trust you, and I won’t allow such a dangerous person to et him.”

“Princess Lecia Cavendish, allow to point out your mistake. I’m not dangerous to him. If he wishes, he could easily kill anyti, my divination doesn’t err.”

Lecia didn’t heed him at all; she flipped and leapt out of the window. Despite wearing a cumberso dress, her descent was as light as performing acrobatics in a circus, another effect of the arcane technique.

Safely landing, the Ring of Fate illuminated the dense fog around her, looking up to find the diviner hadn’t followed. Laplace Klein Howard also gazed upward from the window, gently reminding Lecia:

“Please be careful. By the way, I didn’t summon this, if you need help, I’m ready to intervene.”

The sickly green glimr fell from the sky into the mist, manifesting within ten ters of Lecia, forming a creature with a smoky lower half and three different spirits fused together upper half, giving it six arms and three heads.
