Off to the side.
Guo Wei saw the bus arrive.
She let out a long sigh of relief.
To save money on rent, she had rented a place a fair distance from her office.
On top of that, it was late and raining.
She had already decided that if the bus didn’t show up soon, she would have no choice but to head back and crash at the office for the night.
Thankfully, the bus had finally arrived.
After all.
Compared to going ho for a hot shower and a warm bed,
no one would want to sleep at the office on a makeshift bed of benches.
...
’It’s here?’
The instant the bus’s headlights ca into view,
the Young Man who had been leaning against the bus stop sign—Hu Qi—snapped his eyes open.
He was now alone.
As for Hu San, who had been perched on his shoulder, Hu Qi had used his Twisted Light to conceal its existence, hoping to avoid attracting the attention of the Blood Word Script.
Although Hu San was still on his shoulder, it was now invisible.
"This is the bus."
Hu San, perched on Hu Qi’s shoulder, spoke.
’To be honest, even with all its experience, it couldn’t help but be shocked by Hu Qi’s strange Ability to conceal its form. Simply put, this Ability seed far too bizarre and powerful. It could clearly feel itself being cut off from the outside world, able to interact only with Hu Qi. While so Dream Eyes possessed a similar Ability, none could co close to achieving this.’
Of course, Hu Qi was unaware of Hu San’s thoughts.
Upon hearing its words,
his eyes flickered.
He looked over.
He saw the bus slowly approaching.
The rainwater on its body glistened under the lights, shimring with a cold gleam like countless flowing silver threads.
It stread down the vehicle’s fra, splashing into tiny droplets on the pavent.
As it drew nearer, the once-blurry outline of the bus sharpened. Its paint was faded, a dingy grayish-white.
A yawning, middle-aged man sat in the driver’s seat.
He seed to notice Hu Qi and the woman at the bus stop.
He began to slow down and pull up to the stop.
Hu Qi’s gaze, however, shifted down to the bus’s license plate.
L0689
This was slightly different from the scene he had witnessed in his vision.
In that vision, the last two digits of the license plate should have been ’44’.
Perhaps noticing Hu Qi’s eyes on the license plate,
Hu San, fearing a misunderstanding,
quickly spoke up to explain.
"The Divination Technique is a form of Divination that predicts future trajectories based on the present.
It may be a normal bus right now, but it’s guaranteed to beco sothing else tonight. The dium for the Blood Word Script will definitely manifest."
Though it spoke, its voice was confined to a tiny area, audible only to Hu Qi.
"According to the future trajectory revealed by the Divination Technique, you weren’t supposed to be here, Sir. Therefore, before this bus becos the Blood Word Script’s Nightmare dium, the only thing you must do... is nothing at all."
Upon hearing this,
Hu Qi said nothing.
’Hu San’s so-called Divination Technique was sowhat similar to his main body’s Heart Inference Divine Techniques, but from what Hu San had described... In comparison, Hu San’s Divination Technique had several limitations. First, it couldn’t be used to divine the distant future. Second, its scope was limited. Third, it could only be used once per day. And most importantly, it couldn’t be used to divine matters concerning itself. This was precisely why it had once been captured by ’Heaven’ and sealed on Fox Tail Mountain. Otherwise, it could have easily used its Divination Technique to foresee and avoid that calamity. So, when truly compared to his main body’s Heart Inference Divine Techniques, it was undoubtedly far inferior.’
But regardless,
the Divination Technique’s Ability, simply put, was to foresee the course of certain events.
For instance, it had foreseen that this very bus would beco the dium through which the Blood Word Script selected its ’actors’ tonight.
Knowing this,
Hu Qi understood that his re presence here had already created a small butterfly effect, altering the future in so way.
If Hu Qi were to stop others from boarding, or if he were to stop the bus itself,
the dium for the Blood Word Script would surely shift to sothing else.
This was why Hu Qi hadn’t said a word to Guo Wei when he saw her arrive at the bus stop.
If he did,
it would very likely trigger an unwanted butterfly effect.
PSSSH!
Just then, with the hiss of its pneumatic brakes,
the bus ca to a steady stop at the curb.
Being closer,
Guo Wei was the first to get on,
with Hu Qi following right behind her.
He casually tossed a coin into the fare box.
The two of them then headed toward the back of the bus.
The bus was lit, but the light inside was dim.
At least the interior offered so shelter from the elents, making it a little warr than outside.
Besides the two of them,
two other young people were sitting near a window in the back.
They looked like a couple and were cuddled together, feigning sleep with their eyes closed.
Seeing this,
Hu Qi and Guo Wei each found a seat and sat down.
Guo Wei took a seat ahead of him and to the right, while Hu Qi sat on the opposite side.
The doors closed, and the bus slowly pulled away.
Outside the window, a freezing rain fell in fine, endless threads.
For the next ten minutes or so,
everything was normal.
The bus made its usual stops, pulling over at three more stations.
However, the first two stops were empty.
It wasn’t until the third stop that two more people boarded.
No one got off during this ti.
One was a teenage boy in a blue and white school uniform, wearing headphones and holding an MP3 player.
He was lost in his own world of music, his head bobbing gently to the beat.
