Su Wanqing and Wei Banng were stunned listening.
The person they’ve been looking for all this ti!?
The image of the Apostle President of the Bauhinia Association automatically appeared in both their minds.
Though neither of them actually knew this president’s na,
"My na is Yan Lin." Mandala, seeing their expressions, said through the mask in a calm and cold voice, "Those rumors you’ve heard about ..."
She paused slightly, with a faint hint of amusent that was hard to detect, "There’s quite a few, isn’t there?"
Su Wanqing and Wei Banng were at a loss for words for a mont.
They indeed had heard, but it was all bad news.
The Bauhinia Association retreating, the president being easily subdued by the Celestial Punishnt Association, and even rumors of their demise.
The two instinctively exchanged glances and saw the confusion in each other’s eyes.
But they still introduced themselves.
"Su Wanqing."
"Wei Banng."
Yan Lin’s gaze swept across their faces, as if she could read the doubts in their eyes. She nodded slightly, her tone carrying a hint of understanding: "Hmm, seems all you’ve heard are bad news."
She paused, as the elevator reached the top floor with a soft "ding" sound.
The doors slid open silently.
Yan Lin walked out first, the black hem of her dress trailing across the polished floor, and added nonchalantly:
"But those rumors are just one of my alter egos."
An alter ego?!
Su Wanqing and Wei Banng’s eyes were filled with astonishnt.
So does this an the president of the Bauhinia Association has many alter egos!?
The Sixth Apostle "Mandala" is her.
The Bauhinia Association president Yan Lin is also her?
And perhaps... there are even more?
The amount of information was overwhelming, leaving the two won montarily unable to process it all as they instinctively followed Yan Lin out of the elevator.
The view opened up dramatically before them.
This was a large flat apartnt with an excellent view, decorated in a style of ultimate simplicity.
Outside the vast floor-to-ceiling windows, the skyscrapers of the Inner City core area spread out like a forest of steel, reflecting a cold light.
Yan Lin seed to return to a zone of safety, her tense deanor instantly relaxing.
She walked a few steps to the large gray sofa in the center, casually removed the plain white, patternless mask, and tossed it onto the coffee table.
Revealing a breathtakingly exquisite face.
Her eyebrows were like a painting, her nose straight, her lips a natural pale pink, and her skin was so fair it was almost translucent, but now it carried a hint of sickly paleness.
She unceremoniously slumped into the sofa.
Casually grabbed a bottle of orange soda from the coffee table, which was emitting a cool mist, twisted off the cap, and took a big gulp.
The mysterious power and aura of aloofness that belonged to the "Sixth Apostle Mandala" just a mont ago instantly vanished, leaving only a deep-seated sense of exhaustion.
This stark contrast left Su Wanqing and Wei Banng standing opposite the sofa in a daze, exchanging glances again.
However, just after swallowing a few gulps of soda, Yan Lin’s brow furrowed sharply, her body leaning slightly forward.
"Pff—!"
She forcibly turned her head to spit a mouthful of soda mixed with scarlet blood into the nearby trash can, emitting a dull sound.
She coughed softly a few tis, her breathing a bit labored, perspiration beading on her forehead.
Su Wanqing and Wei Banng instinctively took a step forward.
Yan Lin raised her other hand and waved it, her voice hoarse and attempting to remain nonchalant: "Cough... it’s nothing, just an old problem, have a seat."
She gestured towards the opposite sofa, indicating for the two won to sit down.
Su Wanqing and Wei Banng complied and sat down, their hearts mired in confusion.
Looking at this woman in front of them, delicate and unreasonably so, yet also weak and bleeding.
For a mont, they didn’t know where to start questioning.
Wei Banng spoke first, her cool voice carrying direct inquiry: "President Yan, what exactly is the situation with the Bauhinia Association now? Why has there been a complete disconnect with the Federation?"
Yan Lin leaned back against the sofa, eyes closed, fingers unconsciously massaging her temples.
A deep sense of helplessness flickered between her brows: "It’s not that I wanted to disconnect."
She opened her eyes, those deep-set eyes clearly reflecting exhaustion and severity: "From the first day I arrived at the City of Injustice, I was ambushed right at the Bauhinia Association headquarters."
Su Wanqing and Wei Banng gasped simultaneously.
Yan Lin’s voice explained gently, "I received an urgent order from the forr president and, along with six mbers of my team, secretly arrived at the City of Injustice, prepared to assu the role of Bauhinia Association president and handle the unrest in the Inner City that was already beginning to surface. Everything seed normal during the transition with the forr president, who even personally familiarized us with the headquarters’ layout."
Her fingers tapped lightly on the sofa’s armrest, the rhythm carrying a suppressed anger: "On the very night the forr president left and we moved into the headquarters."
"All defense systems at headquarters were deactivated by unknown permissions, and the internal space was completely sealed with a powerful force field. More than twenty Peak of Third Tier individuals suddenly appeared and launched an assault on us."
"One of my team mbers died in battle on the spot." Yan Lin’s voice was calm, "The rest of us tore open a path and barely escaped. There has been no word from the forr president."
The chilling tale left Su Wanqing and Wei Banng shaken to their cores.
Their own president, surrounded by over twenty Peak of Third Tier individuals inside their headquarters...
What could this an?
"So..."
Su Wanqing struggled to speak, and combined with Yan Lin’s previous words, a terrifying conclusion erged, "The current Bauhinia Association headquarters..."
"Is no longer the Bauhinia Association." Yan Lin heard this and imdiately shook her head, "The people inside, from top to bottom, have long been replaced."
"For this past month, my team and I have been investigating."
"The Mandala alter ego of the Sixth Apostle, along with the rumors of the Bauhinia Association president being easily defeated, gravely injured, and on the verge of death by the Celestial Punishnt Association, are identities I’ve used in my investigation."
