"I thought so," Kyle said.
Sebastian nodded.
After combining the clues, it was kind of obvious that the Array of Stars owned this world.
"What made you think so?" Magic Lady asked.
"The old Overseer," Kyle said. "I assu this world is supposed to create Standard Transcendents and send them up to the next one?"
"Very good!" Magic Lady said. "That is correct. Every Transcendent ascending from this Tertiary World arrives in one of our Ascension Portals. That ans we are allowed to recruit them first."
"Mr. Freeman, what did the old Overseer do?"
"Well, she kind of made it so that nobody, aside from beasts, ascended. I would assu she does not belong to the Array of Stars, right?" he answered.
"Troubleso," Magic Lady said with a smile. "Saboteurs appear from ti to ti. We couldn't be sure that this Tertiary World was sabotaged, but we could see that it stopped producing Transcendents. Where is the old Overseer now?"
"She ascended shortly before you arrived," Kyle said.
Magic Lady sighed. "Then, she got away. She was probably employed by one of our rivals. Usually, by ascending naturally, she would arrive in our Ascension Portal, but there are ways around that. Most likely, she reached one of the Ascension Portals belonging to our competitors."
Kyle sighed in relief.
He had feared that the Duchess would have been killed already.
Luckily, they didn't get her.
"So, I assu my job is to make this world productive again, right?" Kyle asked.
"That is correct," Magic Lady said. "We will give you so tasks you need to complete to make ascension possible and regular again. This will hurt your Karmic Luck, but a productive world also rewards Karmic Luck. With ti, your Karmic Luck will recover."
Sebastian sighed in relief.
He had thought that Kyle needed to go through much worse, but it didn't seem to be that bad.
In fact, he was helping the people of this world to beco more powerful.
Kyle glanced at Sebastian before looking back at Magic Lady. "Then, it's not so bad."
After that, he looked back at Sebastian. "See? Seems like it's not that bad."
"I'm so happy to hear that," Sebastian said.
Magic Lady nodded. "In life, there are always costs and rewards. As long as you can bear the cost, you will eventually reap rewards."
Sebastian sighed again before looking at Kyle with pain. "Anyway, I think it's about ti for to leave."
Kyle nodded at Sebastian with a smile. "I'll probably have to stay here for a while, but just you wait! I will catch up to you!"
Sebastian smiled. "I hope so."
Then, he looked back at Magic Lady. "So, how do I ascend? Should I just directly beco a Transcendent?"
"No," Magic Lady answered. "You will not go to the Ascension Pool of the Secondary World superior to this one. I will directly send you to one of our Secondary Worlds designed for Enforcer Adepts."
Sebastian nodded. "Sounds good!"
After that, he looked at Kyle. "Well, then. It's been a blast. You've been an amazing friend. I'm sad to go, but I don't really have another choice."
"It's fine," Kyle said with a smile of his own. "I would do the sa thing in your shoes. You go get your head start! I will follow you eventually."
Sebastian smiled. "Then, goodbye, Kyle. I hope I can see you again."
"Goodbye, Sebastian," Kyle answered.
The two of them looked at each other for a while longer before Sebastian turned to Magic Lady.
Finally, he nodded with conviction.
Magic Lady simply snapped her fingers, and bright light appeared around Sebastian.
For the last seconds, Sebastian and Kyle just looked at each other with smiles.
"See ya!" Kyle shouted.
Sebastian just waved.
The light hid Sebastian before vanishing again.
Sebastian was gone.
He was no longer in this world.
As soon as Sebastian left, Kyle's smile vanished.
Right now, his brows were furrowed.
"Alright," Kyle said. "Let's cut the bullshit about rewards, costs, and so on. I've had a job before, and I know how things go."
Magic Lady just looked at Kyle with a smile.
"So, how are you going to fuck my Karmic Luck?" he asked.
"As vulgar as always, Mr. Freeman," Magic Lady said. "However, if you are not interested in any more pleasantries, you're welco to start your duties imdiately."
"Let's go," Kyle said with so annoyance. "I want to get this over with."
Magic Lady nodded. "Then, I will give you your first task."
"I have already analyzed the workings of this Tertiary World, and I have seen many ways with which to improve its output."
"The most concerning hindrances are the so-called rituals. They are designed to make it impossible to ascend."
"They are like a loan with exceedingly high levels of interest. You will receive a boon in the short term, but you will pay for it until your life ends."
"Yet, the worst part is that this loan damages the economy so much that trying to survive in it is almost impossible without the loan. "
"I have a couple of tasks I'd like you to accomplish to solve this issue."
The next mont, Magic Lady summoned so kind of object and handed it to Kyle.
Kyle looked at the object with furrowed brows.
It looked like so kind of detector or compass.
"This tool shows you the location of all the resources that teach the creation of these rituals. I'd like to ask you to use it to get rid of all the sources. When the detector can no longer pick up a signal, you will have fulfilled your first duty."
Kyle nodded. "Makes sense. What else?"
Magic Lady just smiled. "With the creation of the rituals dealt with, we only have to deal with the current people, who have undergone any rituals."
"As your second task, I would like you to get rid of all Squires, Knights, Royal Knights, Adepts, Fighters, Grandmasters, Adjutants, Paladins, Holy Paladins, Apprentices, Sorcerers, Grand Sorcerers, Summoners, Conjurers, Demon masters, Fledglings, Beast Tars, Beast Masters, Servants, Priests, Cardinals, Tinkerers, Artificers, and Master Artificers."
Kyle remained silent.
"Get rid?" Kyle asked.
"Fart (Kill), in other words," Magic Lady said with a smile.
