Thud!
Before he knew it, he had fallen on his knees, tears streaming down his face.
Rima was indeed alive at the mont, but it wasn’t going to be the sa for too long.
Her dantian had been destroyed and a very overbearing energy had severely injured her internal organs.
Though this energy had been neutralized by another energy and only faint traces of it remained, there was another destructive energy present in her body, constantly damaging her organs.
If not for the energy that seed to have neutralized that other overbearing energy and endless streams of dicinal energy that kept trying to heal her, her organs would have completely pulverized by now and she would already be dead.
Max was familiar with this destructive energy. It was similar to the Devil Energy and this explained why it wasn’t extracted from her body yet.
The reason he beca hopeless upon seeing it was because even though soone—most likely Sanya or Grand Elder Rowan—had neutralized Lord Grimheart’s energy—the overbearing one—they had apparently failed to extract it, and Max himself knew he wasn’t capable of doing it. After all, no matter how powerful his bloodline was or how miraculous Nascent Energy was, they were still too weak in front of an energy that ca from a Monarch Rank Being.
"M..ax..."
Suddenly he heard a faint voice. Hurriedly wiping away his tears, he took a deep breath, put on a normal expression and stood up, gazing down at Rima, who looked at him with her barely open, swollen eyes.
"Yes. It’s , babe. I’m here." He crouched beside the bed, gently taking hold of her hand.
Rima’s bloodied lips moved slightly: "...I... love... you."
Boom!
Suddenly, it was as if a nuclear explosion had gone off in his head. His ears started ringing, his vision swam, his heart slowed to a crawl and bloody tears poured down his eyes in unending streams.
...
Within his bloodline space, the Thunder and Garfield bloodline sources churned violently. But in the end, they fell silent.
After what seed like an eternity...
Sigh!
A faint sigh echoed and the vast Lust Overlord Bloodline’s source shook and a small stream of pure energy disappeared, appearing within his heart before rushing up into his head, quickly stabilizing Max’s mind.
At the sa ti, a small part of this stream of energy entered his dantian.
...
Twenty minutes after Max entered the room...
Clack!
The door opened and he walked out.
The dical Elder and Elder Milo both were aware of Rima’s condition, so they knew Max must be devastated. Therefore, they were prepared to console him and keep him company until he felt better if necessary.
However...
Their words remained stuck in their throats, and their pupils constricted when they saw him.
Ba-Dum!
Both Elders were over five hundred years old, the dical Elder was even nearing a thousand year mark. In their long lives, they had seen and experienced all kinds of things and their hearts had long beco stable like mountains. But upon seeing Max now, their hearts quivered.
His face was pale white as if not even a single drop of blood was in his body. His previously enchanting sapphire eyes were now blood-red and emotionless as if they didn’t belong to a human but a devil.
Two dried up dark-red bloodied trails were clear on his cheeks which told them he had cried tears of blood.
Just how much agony he must have felt to do that?
His hair, previously luscious and vibrant light blue, were now seed dry and lifeless and several streaks of grey could be seen within them.
Not only that, he was clearly a lot thinner and his steps were unstable as if he would fall the next mont.
"Elder... Please go heal her." Ignoring their stunned looks, Max bowed to the dical Elder and requested, his voice hoarse and low.
"Ah, yes. I’ll go." The dical Elder pursed her lips, feeling really bad for him.
After she entered, Max turned to Elder Milo.
"Elder... Please help get back to my cave..." Before he could finish, he lost consciousness.
Shua!
Elder Milo hurriedly caught him, preventing him from falling.
’You foolish child...’ He sighed and left the dical hall with him.
He was midway to Max’s cave abode when he got a ssage from the dical elder.
’Is she...’ Imdiately, he thought that Rima had passed away and sighed. ’Rest in pe...What?’
He stooped in his tracks, his eyes opened wide.
After a long mont, he exhaled deeply and looked at Max in his arms, ’Just who are you?’
The ssage he received from the dical elder wasn’t about Rima’s passing, but...
[Elder Milo, I don’t know what the boy has done, but she is rapidly recovering now. That strange energy is gone.]
A mont later, he inford Grand Elder Rowan about what had happened and took Max to his cave abode.
...
Swoosh!
Not long after dical elder inford Elder Milo, Grand Elder Rowan appeared in the dical Hall.
After checking Rima’s condition, he fell in thought. After a while, he said, "Show what happened while he was in here."
"Yes, Grand Elder." The dical Elder, standing behind him, said respectfully and took out a formation disk. After she tapped it a few tis, a translucent screen appeared in the room.
Both watched as Max entered the room...
After a while, Grand Elder Rowan pointed at the formation disk in dical Elder’s hands and it shattered, turning into dust.
"Forget what you saw." He faintly said.
"As you command, Grand Elder." The dical Elder bowed.
"Make sure no one else finds out that she is recovering. You can dismiss others if you want. Keep only your trusted ones with you." After saying this, he paused before adding, "Take care of her properly."
"Yes, Grand Elder." By the ti the dical Elder responded, Grand Elder Rowan had disappeared from the room.
A mont later, he appeared before Max’s cave abode and saw Elder Milo sitting in a chair and Max’s servant standing to the side.
Without them noticing, he slipped into the cave and watched the unconscious Max for a while.
"...He is as foolish as you, Raylus. He didn’t hesitate to sacrifice his future prospects." He muttered, a gentle look appearing in his eyes.
A mont later, dark murderous intent pooled in his eyes, "...Grimheart."
