Minutes ticked by as Ryuna, Elder Shu, Mi Jun and the other disciple waited outside the chamber.
"Mm?"
When ten minutes had passed everyone frowned because Max hadn’t activated the formations.
"The formations do work, right?" Ryuna shot a look at the receptionist who hurriedly nodded, a wry smile on his face, "They work properly, Miss Ryuna. You had seen deactivate them just a bit earlier."
Ryuna nodded, and muttered, "Then why isn’t he activating them?"
No one had an answer.
Soon, another ten minutes had passed.
Suddenly...
Swoosh!
Ryuna turned to the second disciple beside Elder Shu and threw a talisman at him.
Bang!
Elder Shu acted but it exploded a mont too early and all he could do was to contain the damage, but it made him grunt and his face turned a shade paler.
"Arghh!" The disciple cried in pain and staggered backwards, clutching his head.
Elder Shu glanced at him, then roared in rage, "How ruthless of you, Ryuna! How dare you use a Spirit Destruction Talisman on soone within the Hall. You should be—"
Before he could finish, Ryuna took out another talisman, identical to the one she used just now, and coldly said, "Try spying on him again and I’ll use a second."
Elder Shu shut his mouth, but then said, "Still, you have violated the rules of the hall—"
"Yeah, I know. Go ahead and report ." Ryuna uncaringly said before closing her eyes, the Spirit Destruction Talisman still in her hand.
"Give him a Spirit Calming Elixir and send him away." Elder Shu coldly said while glancing at the guy who Ryuna attacked.
"Yes, Master." Mi Jun nodded and gave him a small bottle of golden liquid. The man drained it in one gulp, and his complexion slowly improved. No longer he was clutching his head.
"That was very stupid, Matt." Mi Jun comnted, "Let escort you out."
Matt glared at him, but didn’t respond. Before turning around to leave, he glanced at Ryuna, a venomous look in his eyes.
Ryuna lightly waved her hand holding the talisman and his expression stiffened.
[She is a very unreasonable, hot-headed woman. It’s better you don’t provoke her unless you are confident of killing her in one go and without anyone finding out, otherwise you will be in a lot of trouble.] Mi Jun sent him a transmission while pushing him toward the exit.
Matt nodded, and just as he was about to leave...
Creak~!
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening echoed in the silent building and he stopped in his tracks before turning around to look at the chamber behind the reception desk along with Mi Jun.
"Hmm? He gave up?" Matt muttered, his lips curling up in a derisive smirk, but the next mont, it froze on his face.
Elder Shu and Ryuna also had similar expressions, the only difference was that Elder Shu’s expression mirrored Matt and Mi Jun’s while Ryuna’s expression was more of sympathy and pity.
But a mont later, all their expressions changed along with Matt because they saw Max throw a talisman toward the receptionist who reflexively caught it. When he took a look at it, he beca stunned.
"T-Tier 4 Talisman?" he muttered while staring at Max in astonishnt. He didn’t know Max was a novice in talisman making, he was astonished because Max had finished creating it in around half an hour. How fast was that?
Suddenly, Elder Shu’s eyes flashed and he moved to snatch the talisman from the receptionist’s hands.
Swoosh!
Ryuna’s eyes narrowed. She was weaker than Elder Shu who was a peak King Mage and thus knew she wouldn’t be able to outrun him, especially since he had moved a mont before her. However, she couldn’t allow him to snatch the talisman because he could temper it within a second which would lead to Max failing the exam.
Therefore, without any hesitation, she replaced the Tier 5 Spirit Destruction Talisman in her hand with a Tier 6 one. Then, activating it, she threw it at him.
Imdiately, Elder Shu’s pupils constricted and sense of danger washed over him.
’How ruthless!’ He was both surprised and furious.
He knew she was a very ruthless person and when angered, she tended to disregard most things. Still, he hadn’t expected her to attack him.
Attacking Matt was one thing because he wasn’t a mber of the Talisman Hall. So, she might only receive a light punishnt, but attacking him, an official Elder of the Talisman Man with a restricted talisman no less, would surely result in very severe punishnt. She might get expelled from not only the Talisman Hall, but from the Beast Emperor Hall too.
Moreover...
His eyes flashed.
If he let the talisman injure his spirit a little, he could use it to have her crippled.
However...
Without hesitation, he took out multiple talismans capable of defending one’s spirit, and activated them.
While seeing her beco a cripple would be very satisfying, the spirit injury, even a minor one, would take him a lot of ti and resources to heal.
Moreover, he wasn’t confident in limiting the injury he would receive. If sothing went wrong, his spirit would be destroyed and he would end up a vegetable. The gains weren’t worth the risks.
BANG!
The Spirit Destruction Talisman exploded and released a powerful wave of destructive spiritual energy.
Fortunately, Ryuna had locked onto Elder Shu, thus the wave was focused on him, otherwise, if it had spread out, Max, the receptionist and she, herself, might have ended up dead.
One after another, Elder Shu’s talisman was destroyed. When the last one was destroyed, the wave had vanished—Elder Shu was unhard.
"I’ll see you dead, you wench!" he growled in rage.
"Yeah. I heard you." Ryuna dismissively waved her hand while taking the talisman from the receptionist’s hand—she had rushed over to them after throwing the talisman.
"Woah~" she whistled, "It’s indeed a Tier 4 talisman, a Fire Elental one at that. Well done, Mr. Maxwell." she said, then glanced at Elder Shu and batted her eyelashes at him, her face a mask of innocence, "Do you want to inspect it, Elder Shu?"
"Hmph! Just you wait." Elder Shu snorted and walked away with Mi Jun.
After they had left the building, the receptionist looked at her with a complicated look in his eyes and sighed, "You shouldn’t have done that, Miss Ryuna. Things will beco really troubleso—"
"It’s alright." she interrupted him and handed him the talisman, "Announce the result and register him as the official mber of our Hall."
The receptionist nodded. After carefully inspecting it, he announced, "Mr. Maxwell, you have created a Mid-Grade Tier 4, Fire Elental Talisman. With this, you have successfully passed the exam and are now an official mber of the Talisman Hall. Please give your Identity Badge so I can register you."
"Thank you." Max gave him the badge. Soon, the receptionist registered him and returned it along with an insignia of the talisman hall.
"Welco to the Talisman Hall, Mr. Maxwell." he said with a smile, which looked a bit forced to Max.
"Thanks." he nodded and glanced at Ryuna, who smiled and said, "Co, let take you to your residence here."
As they walked out of the building, Max received the receptionist’s transmission, [Mr. Maxwell, Miss Ryuna has violated the strictest rule of the Talisman Hall for your sake. I hope you are not an ungrateful person and will rember her favor.]
’Hm?’ Max raised his eyebrows. ’He asked to rember her favor, not help her even though he knows I have Grand Elder Rowan behind . ...Interesting.’
