The night was growing darker, and the nightscape of the capital city of Sam Country was astonishingly bustling. Neon lights emitted a brilliant array of colors, and the cars on the street showed no signs of decreasing due to the nightfall. Various bars lined the streets, and handso n and beautiful won entered and exited in groups of three or five. A sowhat hot breeze blew through the window into the room, brushing against Luo Zheng's face, which was standing by the window, yet it couldn't dissipate the deep unease on his face.
It was already nine at night. Hong ihua was still outside setting up an assassination mission on the intelligence leader, and everything seed normal. Lan Xue went to contact the National Security Departnt to arrange for the retreat. She called ten minutes ago with a good progress report, but Luo Zheng's inner unease intensified with the passage of ti.
On the battlefield, such unease often predicted impending danger. Luo Zheng didn't know if it was the sa at the hotel, but he thought about it and decided to take the issue seriously—life is only lived once and can't afford to be lost. Luo Zheng imdiately called Lan Xing and the other two team mbers, looking gravely serious as he said, "Lan Xing, is it possible to get a different room in this hotel without alerting the front desk? No ID registration needed."
"No problem, give three minutes." Lan Xing didn't know why Luo Zheng was doing this, but he quickly sprang into action, typing rapidly on the keyboard. Before long, he hacked into the hotel server, altered the registration information, turned an unoccupied room on the opposite side into a checked-in status, and unlocked the door, all within three minutes.
Luo Zheng and the others quickly moved their belongings to the other room. There might not be a bomb, otherwise, they could have set a trap. After securing the doors, they all sat down, and only then did Lan Xing look at Luo Zheng curiously and ask, "What's happening?"
Before Luo Zheng could answer, the sound of dense footsteps echoed through the hallway, followed by the click of electromagnetic door locks. With a swift motion, Luo Zheng reached the door, listening with ears pricked, and looked out through the peephole. A large group of ard n was moving towards their original room, which made his expression change dramatically. He furrowed his brow and gestured to Lan Xing and others to keep silent.
Outside, failing to find anyone, the n began to retreat out of the room, and the disordered footsteps made Luo Zheng's face as solemn as iron. How did the opponents find their way here? How were they exposed? Could it have been when they scouted the mountain? Thinking of this, Luo Zheng imdiately whispered urgently to Lan Xing, "Quick, we've been exposed. Inform the others not to co to the hotel."
"What? Okay." Lan Xing quickly understood and hurried to spread the word.
Now that the opponents have drawn a blank, they certainly wouldn't give up easily. They would guard the hotel down below, and by the ti they checked surveillance and rooms, they wouldn't be able to escape. They had to divert these people. Luo Zheng pondered heavily and quickly moved to the window, looking down. Their residence was on the nineteenth floor, with more than a dozen floors above them, leaving no clear path. How could they lure the outside people away?
"I've inford everyone. What do we do next?" Lan Xing asked with a stern face.
Luo Zheng glanced at Lan Xing and then at the other two teammates, his expression serious, and said earnestly, "Don't panic. Is there a way to give them false orders?"
"Difficult. Such mission orders are usually given directly on phones," Lan Xing explained.
"Looks like we can only create a distraction sowhere else, make them believe we're attacking an important target of theirs, only then would they retreat. Notify Xue Er, see if she has any ideas?" Luo Zheng promptly suggested.
"Alright." Lan Xing quickly sent the information to Lan Xue's phone.
Soon, Lan Xue replied, saying she was on a road where satellite monitoring was unavailable, with no suitable targets for attack. If possible, she suggested attacking the subway. Let Lan Xing coordinate an infiltration of the subway system, shut it down, and suspend operations, providing a distraction for an opportunity to act without harming innocents, thus attracting the enemy's attention.
Luo Zheng found rit in the idea and agreed to the plan. Lan Xing swiftly hacked into the subway operating system, shutting down all running subways and causing transportation paralysis. This process wouldn't last long, as people in Sam Country were not to be underestimated. Whether Lan Xue and others could seize the opportunity would depend on them.
Waiting was a tornt; every minute felt like a year. Five minutes later, Lan Xue's ssage ca in. In coordination with the local National Security, they used a grenade to blow up a subway train, escaped safely, and caused no innocent casualties, only damaging the train's head.
Soon after, Luo Zheng saw through the window that a large number of law enforcent officers began leaving the hotel grounds. Luo Zheng was unsure if they had all withdrawn. He signaled two team mbers and Lan Xing to gather their valuables and prepare to evacuate. He carefully opened the door, finding the corridor empty. Luo Zheng quickly donned a hat, lowered his head, and stepped out of the room. As he passed the original room, he noticed four people still inside, checking fingerprints and gathering clues.
"Bastards," Luo Zheng could not contain his anger, drew his pistol, attached a suppressor, and gestured for Lan Xing and others who had exited to retreat, signaling them to wait while he swiftly dashed into the room and opened fire. The four who were intensely focused on examining evidence had no ti to react and were shot dead by Luo Zheng instantly.
Eliminating the four, Luo Zheng exhaled, piled up their belongings, covered them with a sheet, set it on fire, then closed the door and summoned Lan Xing, saying seriously, "The fire alarm will be detected by the hotel in no more than a minute. If anyone's left behind, they certainly will take the elevator up. We must seize the opportunity to leave."
"That's not difficult. We'll take the fire escape down to the eighteenth floor, then wait for the elevator. If there are people, they will take the elevator to the nineteenth floor, and so will take the fire escape directly to the nineteenth floor. We'll wait at the elevator door on the eighteenth floor. As long as the elevator stops at the nineteenth floor, it ans they've ascended, and we hit down for the elevator." A team mber proposed with a serious expression.
Luo Zheng estimated the timing, found the suggestion reasonable, and laughed, "You guys used to work security, the best at defense. Those who understand defense naturally understand offense and know where there are loopholes to exploit. We'll do as you say, let's move, everyone be careful, if sothing unexpected happens, we charge out forcibly."
"Understood," everyone agreed.
The three quickly descended the fire escape to the eighteenth floor, hearing the alarm blaring. The hotel had smoke detectors, and the fire set by Luo Zheng emitted smoke, triggering the sensors and automatically calling the alarm. The hotel would soon know where the incident occurred. Luo Zheng and others patiently waited, eyes fixed on the elevator floor indicator.
The first elevator didn't stop on the nineteenth floor, and they didn't press it. After it descended, it ca back up, this ti stopping at the nineteenth floor. A team mber gave Luo Zheng a glance and decisively hit the elevator button. The elevator quickly arrived, empty, and they swiftly boarded as a team mber firmly pressed the elevator close button, not letting go, keeping the elevator uninterrupted.
"Ding!" The elevator reached the ground floor, and as the doors opened, several police appeared before them, eagerly trying to get on the elevator, while they kept their heads down walking out. Suddenly, one police shouted, "Wait a minute."
