"Do you look down on ?" Hook's face turned cold as he questioned discontentedly.
Luo Zheng nodded in gratitude, glanced at everyone, and said coldly, "Brothers, the enemy has ambushed us again and again. While it's still dark, I want to strike back. What do you all think?"
"No need to say more, just give the order." The Scholar and others responded without hesitation. The repeated attacks had caused them great hardship, and they were holding a grudge, eager to retaliate.
Luo Zheng pointed at the lightning in the sky and said, "Brothers, this stormy night is absolutely unsuitable for using guns because of the risk of lightning strikes. So, I need a team, not too many people, without guns, using bows and arrows. Scholar, select the best archers from each group, five people per team will do. Hook, you select thirty of your best shooters to make a fifty-man team."
"Understood." Everyone suddenly realized that fighting with firearms in this stormy weather was risky due to conductivity, but wooden bows and arrows were different, less conductive. Luo Zheng knew Hook's people were skilled archers, each carrying bows. Since few people were skilled with hand crossbows, selecting five people per team would suffice.
A few minutes later, the personnel were selected and assembled in front of Luo Zheng. With a stern expression, everyone looked at him. Luo Zheng instructed Hook to distribute bows from others, taking one for himself. As a forr hunter, Luo Zheng was familiar with these wooden bows, testing its strength, sowhat soft but usable.
Everyone laid down their backpacks, firearms, and military knives, removing anything tallic, even steel helts. Luo Zheng gave everyone a stern look as they stood upright in the heavy rain, faces tense with fighting spirit. Satisfied, he nodded at Hook and confird, "You're coming with ?"
"Of course, my feud with them is unending. How could I miss such a good opportunity? If I don't go, I'm not fit to be the tribal chief, let alone command the army." Hook replied eagerly.
"Good brother." Luo Zheng said gratefully, looking at Lan Xue.
"How about I lead the team?" Lan Xue suggested worriedly, knowing Luo Zheng's injury.
"You stay behind to command and guard against any further enemy infiltration." Luo Zheng said calmly. Lan Xue wasn't skilled with wooden bows, so going with him was aningless. He looked at Mountain Eagle and Ghost Hand, who nodded understandingly. Without saying more, Luo Zheng turned to the others and shouted fiercely, "Brothers, the enemy is too rampant. If we don't retaliate, we can't stand tall in the world, nor wear our country's emblem with pride. Follow and fight."
"Fight!" Everyone roared. A bolt of lightning flashed, illuminating their faces filled with fierce anger, eyes sharp as swords as if to pierce the night sky.
"Scholar, Farr, Gardener, Monk, lead your n forward and eliminate all enemy outposts ahead. Hook, we follow closely behind, let's go." Luo Zheng shouted coldly, a sharp pain piercing his chest, suppressing an urge to cough. Frowning, he marched forward, concealing his discomfort.
Keeping a close eye on Luo Zheng, Lan Xue noticed but made no move to stop him. As a soldier and commander, so things Luo Zheng must do. As his woman, Lan Xue could only support him silently from behind, enduring the pain that worry brought, praying quietly as she watched him leave.
The four-man squad led their teams forward, like five sharp swords, sprinting under the intermittent lightning. When the lightning ceased, they stopped, advancing again once it reappeared. Luo Zheng and Hook followed, the thirty Hook Tribe's Ard mbers drew their bows, alertly watching ahead, moving swiftly like seasoned warriors.
Before long, they descended the hill. Hook suddenly stopped Luo Zheng, whispering, "Have my n lead."
Luo Zheng looked at Hook in surprise, who quickly explained, "In this thunderstorm, footsteps are muffled, so we don't have to worry about being overheard. I have a subordinate with a sharp nose who can detect unusual scents in the air. Among the enemy are Westerners, who have distinctive odors carried by the wind, revealing their positions."
"Oh? You've got such a person, that's excellent." Luo Zheng exclaid, praising him.
"Normally in the forest, insects stop chirping when people pass, easily exposing positions, but not today. The thunderstorm masks footsteps, silences the insects, making it hard for the enemy to discover us." Hook continued explaining.
Seeing the logic, Luo Zheng imdiately used the earpiece to tell the Scholar and others to halt. Hook quickly called over a subordinate, gave him instructions, then the man nodded and rushed into the forest ahead, everyone followed, alert as they advanced, bows drawn, ready for combat.
"Sizzle——" A huge bolt of lightning illuminated the dense forest, the ground visible, though rain concealed the situation ahead. Luo Zheng wiped rain from his face, his view soon covered again, focusing his watch on the path ahead.
The team advanced over two hundred ters when the previous man returned, whispering to Hook, who bead and whispered to Luo Zheng, "About fifty ters ahead in the forest, there are about ten people."
"Excellent, take them out." Luo Zheng said without hesitation, issuing the attack order.
The team, embittered by the enemy's ambush, was eager. Hearing the command, they excitedly followed the man forward, soon surrounding the enemy's position. On a stormy night, the rain provided perfect cover. Luo Zheng intently watched the front, sensing presence though not clearly.
At this mont, Hook looked at Luo Zheng, who made a killing gesture. Hook understood, nodding as his Hook Tribe's Ard dispersed, moving forward. In such a dark, stormy night, Luo Zheng's vision wasn't as keen as Hook's people, so he remained close behind.
The Hook Tribe's Ard infiltrated slowly, inching forward, bows drawn, aiming into the stormy night with grim faces, like wolves revealing their claws. Suddenly, a lightning flash revealed everything in the forest ahead.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Luo Zheng was about to fire when he noticed the Hook Tribe acted first, arrows flying like venomous snakes at the targets, carrying a deathly aura, eerily striking in the lightning.
