"Wait." The other party hurriedly said, looking at Luo Zheng with an increasingly wary eye, his face bitter, and continued, "According to my investigation, the cleaning staff are not from the hospital; they're from an outsourced third-party company. This ans the cleaning staff aren't permanent workers, and new faces can appear anyti. How did you discover ?"
"Shoes." Luo Zheng said coldly, not hiding anything.
"Shoes?" The other party looked at Luo Zheng with surprise, seeing that Luo Zheng was not bluffing, his face darkened, and continued, "The cleaning company has uniforms and hats but usually not unified shoes because shoe sizes can't be standardized. If the clothes are too big, they can be worn, but shoes can't be worn if they're too big. What's wrong with my shoes?"
"It's a big problem because all the cleaning staff have uniform shoes. You assud otherwise, utterly reckless. Now, tell , who sent you here? Do you dare attempt an assassination with such little skill?" Luo Zheng asked coldly.
"Huh?" The other's face changed dramatically, and his panicked eyes suddenly turned cold. Lightning-fast, he launched a flying knife toward Wu Miao. Knowing Luo Zheng wasn't easy prey, he chose to attack Wu Miao first and then turned to flee.
Luo Zheng did not pursue but swiftly tackled Wu Miao to the side, avoiding the fatal knife, which embedded in a tree. Luo Zheng got up and saw the assailant had already run far, too lazy to chase. With guards and Shadow everywhere, if the assailant escaped, Shadow wouldn't be Shadow.
"Are you alright?" Luo Zheng asked, helping Wu Miao up.
"I'm fine, thank you." Wu Miao said gratefully, a wave of fear sweeping over him, looking at Luo Zheng with a newfound admiration.
Luo Zheng didn't notice, walked to the tree, and pulled out the palm-sized knife. It was covered in deep blue, clearly poisonous, and extrely so. Wu Miao also ca up, recognized the poison by the blue blade, and his face changed dramatically, realizing the trouble he'd be in if he'd been struck earlier.
"Nice knife. Want to keep it as a souvenir? It's good for self-defense too." Luo Zheng joked.
"You're a frontline combat soldier; if you think it's good, keep it yourself. I, as dical personnel, have no use for it." Wu Miao replied, looking at Luo Zheng with a complex expression. Seeing Luo Zheng about to leave, Wu Miao hinted, "Hey, thanks for saving my life, I..."
"You've saved my life too, more than once." Luo Zheng said with a smile, "We're comrades, brothers. You save ; I save you. It's normal, no need to dwell on it. Like , I don't think I've ever thanked you properly, right?"
"Fine, you're just a blockhead." Wu Miao rolled his eyes at Luo Zheng irritably, walked ahead puffily, swaying his graceful figure, leaving Luo Zheng a charming back view.
Luo Zheng chuckled bitterly. After eting Lan Xue, Luo Zheng couldn't make room for anyone else in his heart, nor did he want to. Arriving in front of Lan Xue, he handed over the poisonous knife. Lan Xue took it, examined it for a while, sniffed it lightly, and said, "Looks like the work of an assassin. Assassins might not be good at close combat, but they're skilled in the art of assassination, able to strike unexpectedly and kill invisibly. This knife is exceptional. Just a slight cut can be lethal."
"Assassin? Could it be the Death God Killer Organization? They're not like other assassin organizations; they're more skilled in combat formations. Such covert assassination thods aren't common. Has the Death God Killer Organization changed its ways? If not Death God, then who? Reincarnation?" Luo Zheng murmured suspiciously.
"Let's go back and ask Shadow. We'll find out soon; I'm sure they've caught the culprit." Lan Xue saw many people around watching and whispering, unable to stay here anymore, and suggested.
Luo Zheng also noticed the surrounding civilians. After all, he had revealed a gun earlier. Guns are common in the military but contraband and rare in civilian areas. If not for this being a military hospital with mostly military personnel accustod to guns, there'd have been chaos.
The two quickly left, returned to the ward, just as a team mber approached, recognized by Luo Zheng as a Shadow teammate. Luo Zheng asked, "Bro, what's the situation?"
"The suspect's been captured. Our leader asked to bring you two over for interrogation." The other party quickly said.
"Alright, let's go." Luo Zheng and Lan Xue exchanged glances, agreeing.
Leading them, the team mber arrived at the security room; the suspect was detained inside, handcuffed, sitting on a chair, looking despondent. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue entered, Shadow motioned for them to sit beside him, tossed a glance to the team mber, who nodded knowingly, stepped out, and closed the room door.
Shadow looked at the suspect coldly and said, "Kid, are we going through the procedure, or will you speak up yourself to avoid pain?"
"I'll talk, don't hit ." The suspect hurriedly said, realizing that staying silent ant a beating, and he wouldn't withstand that given who he was dealing with. He knew these people have endless interrogation thods and couldn't resist them, so he decided to cooperate.
Luo Zheng heard this and knew the suspect's identity wasn't significant; if he knew much, he'd be tight-lipped. Willing to confess imdiately indicated he knew little, and Luo Zheng lost interest.
"I'm just an independent assassin in the International Assassin Network. Soone posted an assassination task listing over a dozen targets, including you, with photos, each marked with different prices. If you need, I can log into the website for you to see; I admit defeat." The suspect candidly said, revealing his na and nickna.
Shadow didn't expect the situation to be like this, his face turned grim, taking it seriously. If soone indeed posted assassination tasks on the Assassin Network, the coming days might be turbulent. He quickly inquired about the website, phoned his intelligence team to check, and indeed found the task, turning to Luo Zheng and Lan Xue. The situation was clear; the suspect was rely an assassin, motivated by money, no further interrogation needed.
But Luo Zheng didn't see it that way, pondered for a mont, and asked, "What nationality are you?"
"Sam Country." The suspect hurriedly replied.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng was stunned, his eyes sharp, locking onto the suspect, trying to see through his mind. Sam Country nationality yet an Asian look. Seemingly normal, but what's beneath the surface? Luo Zheng suddenly smirked coldly and exclaid, "Kid, you're quite the actor. The Assassin Network task is just a cover-up, isn't it? To disguise your failure. Your real identity is as a Japan special agent, right?"
