A ti of crisis, with troops amassed at the border, hardly an appropriate mont for drug smuggling. Yet, a drug trafficking organization has inexplicably appeared. Luo Zheng senses a conspiracy; if it's bait, then more secrets are surely hidden behind it. Consuming the bait to uncover the secrets might yield significant gains. If this team is allowed to leave, the secrets behind it will be lost forever.
Lan Xue understood Luo Zheng's intent and agreed without objection. Having determined the mission's objective, it was ti to plan the operation. Luo Zheng imdiately summoned Ghost Hand, bringing a few people along to investigate, while the others swiftly prepared for combat, checking weapons and loading bullets.
A few minutes later, everyone dispersed to ambush positions, awaiting orders. Without specific intelligence, it was difficult to formulate a targeted plan. Luo Zheng continued sitting on the ground, waiting. About half an hour later, Ghost Hand's voice rang in the earpiece: "Target spotted, thirty-three persons, all ard with AK-series rifles, five pack horses. By their marching posture, they don't seem like military, likely genuine drug traffickers."
"Let them co, keep an eye on anything behind them," Luo Zheng ordered with a start.
If they're genuine drug traffickers, then it's likely they're in urgent need of transporting the drugs out. Driven by profit, they can only take such risks. Such people can't be let off, lest the drugs enter the dostic market. With thirty-three people, it's an easy task; Luo Zheng wouldn't mind taking them out, plus the pack horses make good provisions, just in case.
Ten minutes later, Ghost Hand suddenly exclaid, "Close call, there's indeed a team trailing them, nearly a hundred strong, spread out. They're using the dense forest for cover, no wonder they escaped satellite detection. Moreover, so are dressed as ninjas."
"Huh?" Luo Zheng hadn't expected it to really be bait. But with the battle already at this point, why fish for targets? Nearly a hundred ard, including ninjas—could they be using bait to lure us? At this thought, Luo Zheng couldn't help but sneer and imdiately barked, "Everyone, prepare, Scholar, co here."
"Yes." Scholar hurried over.
Luo Zheng pointed to the hill ahead and said, "Below is a canyon, a must-pass for the drug traffickers. Hide your n in the mid-slope forest and wait for the enemy reinforcents to arrive. Let the traffickers pass; I'll take people to wait in the canyon below, take out this team, and draw in those behind. Then you act."
"Understood." Scholar quickly agreed, glanced at the terrain, waved his hand, and left with his n.
Luo Zheng looked at Mountain Eagle and Snow Leopard, saying, "Take everyone and follow ."
"Yes." The two responded, and the group moved stealthily towards the canyon below. On the way, Luo Zheng reconnected with Ghost Hand to confirm that the team behind the traffickers was following. His face turned cold, his lips twitched into a sneer. Since they wanted to fish, they'd swallow the hook first.
A dozen minutes later, they dashed to the canyon, finding places to conceal themselves on both sides. Soon, indeed, the ard traffickers appeared: several pack horses, each person moving cautiously forward as if facing a formidable enemy. They quickly passed Scholar's ambush point. A few minutes later, Luo Zheng estimated the distance—barely three hundred ters—and signaled the team to wait.
In the forest, everyone quietly watched the advancing team, suppressing their murderous intent. Eyes slightly closed, fingers off triggers to avoid alerting the target, they responded with silence, like prehistoric beasts poised to strike, delivering a deadly blow at any mont.
Luo Zheng coldly watched the incoming enemy. His cold face carried traces of killing intent as he queried through the earpiece, "Ghost Hand, report status? Scholar, any signs of the enemy?"
Scholar's earpiece had been remotely adjusted by Lan Xing, allowing him to hear everyone's conversations. Ghost Hand replied coldly, "The enemy keeps its distance, neither fast nor slow."
"The traffickers have all passed. No sight of following forces," Scholar reported.
"If they're not speeding up, let's force them out," Luo Zheng said coldly, his frosty gaze fixed on the forest ahead, ntally calculating—a hundred ters apart. Still, he refrained from giving the order, choosing to wait longer.
As the traffickers neared fifty ters, Luo Zheng suddenly shouted, "Charge, finish quickly! Mountain Eagle, your n guard the periter, sniping as cover."
"Understood." Everyone shouted in unison, aiming at the enemy ahead and firing. After a rapid three-burst shot, they charged forward, rifles raised on shoulders, running and shooting, each moving quickly, like tigers unleashed, brimming with irresistible force.
"Kill!" They roared, continuously firing.
This group of trafficker fighters totaled just over thirty. If Luo Zheng wanted, they could've sniped them cleanly from the forest without risking a charge. But to lure more followers from behind, Luo Zheng opted for an assault, seemingly risky and unprofessional, yet effective. Soone quickly hid behind a pack horse to dial a satellite phone, calling for rescue.
Luo Zheng led everyone rushing in, firing point-blank at resisting traffickers. The traffickers had limited combat power, especially due to poor coordination, unable to withstand. Soon, over half of the thirty traffickers lay dead; the rest hid behind the pack horses or among the trees, returning fire while communicating with others.
These people couldn't stop Luo Zheng and his group's charge; they surged in, killing anyone who dared fight back. Seeing the fierce assault and daunting combat power, those remaining recognized their fate and raised guns to surrender. But such surrender Luo Zheng directly ignored; without his word, they resolutely completed the task, executing the ten or so who surrendered.
The situation firmly under control, they charged onto the battlefield, delivering coup de grâce shots to those not dead. Lan Xue approached a pack horse, opened the panniers on both sides, face changing drastically, checking a few more—the contents were identical. She quickly reached Luo Zheng, lowered her voice, "Massive amounts of drugs discovered, all real, not bait. Seems like a genuine smuggling attempt."
"What? Drugs?" Luo Zheng was taken aback, his expression turned grave. The situation differed from the prediction; clearly, there's an unfathomable conspiracy here. But what is it? Unfortunately, no prisoners remained for interrogation.
"Enemies trailing us have caught up," Ghost Hand warned.
"Scholar, prepare for battle; wait for my order to fire," Luo Zheng quickly instructed.
"Yes," Scholar replied sternly, brimming with intense combat spirit.
