Yuanfei Zuo's power is formidable, with three known Chrysanthemum Ninjas under his command. However, the most feared by Luo Zheng is this poison master. They've t once before, during the discussion with Yuanfei Zuo about attacking the palace. Yuanfei Zuo recomnded this person, and they t for less than three minutes, just to confirm if poison could be used, yet the strange thods of the other party caught Luo Zheng's attention.
The crowd around moved hastily, instinctively splitting into two lanes while going up and down the stairs, heads down in a rush. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue hurriedly caught up, seeing the target about to descend to the first floor. Luo Zheng threw a glance at Lan Xue, who nodded knowingly and prepared himself. Suddenly, Luo Zheng sped up his steps, and as the target reached the lobby entrance of the stairs, he flicked a spike clutched in his palm, hurling it fiercely toward the target's neck.
This ambush had almost zero chance of success against a Chrysanthemum Ninja who excelled in projectiles. Luo Zheng knew this strike wouldn't succeed, and swiftly headed towards a side corridor with Lan Xue while glancing back, only to find the target seed to have eyes on the back of their head, suddenly stepping aside to dodge the spike. The spike whizzed past and embedded itself deep into the column across the way.
The target's sudden evasive action attracted the attention of certain people mingling in the crowd, with dozens of eyes instantly fixed on them. Realizing they were exposed, the target forcibly cald themselves, and upon seeing people approach, refrained from acting rashly, instead quietly watching the approaching individuals with an innocent smile, attempting to bluff their way through.
Seeing this scene, Luo Zheng quickly halted his steps. This person's ntal fortitude was too strong, remaining calm even in such circumstances, and could not be tolerated. Imdiately, Luo Zheng flicked another spike, aiming straight at the back of the target's head. The spike flashed a dark light in the void, as fast as lightning.
The target sensitively heard the sound of the projectile through the air, knowing that moving erratically would arouse the police's suspicion, but for survival, had no choice but to swiftly step aside, tilting their head. The spike flew past half a foot away from the target's neck. The target narrowly avoided the spike, but the oncoming police officer remained oblivious and incapable of sensing the projectile attack. The spike struck that officer squarely in the forehead, embedding deeply.
The forehead is a crucial area where brain nerves converge, and attacked here, the officer was unable to utter a sound, their body froze, halting in place, followed by toppling straight backward with a thud, eyes wide open, dying unwillingly. This imdiately stirred panic amongst the surrounding people, who scread and scattered in all directions.
Mingling among the crowd, seeing this scene, so imdiately considered the target a dangerous elent, swarming forward. The target knew they were being sabotaged, but couldn't explain at the mont - failure to flee ant certain death. With a face turned grim, they snorted coldly, exuding a strongman's confidence, stamped powerfully on the ground, and lunged towards the gate like lightning, stretching into a black shadow in the void with incredible speed.
Luo Zheng saw this, smirked. This ninja's skills were strong, but too many experts were concealed around; the other side could never escape. Mingling with Lan Xue in the crowd, they watched the spectacle; the goal was achieved, now it was ti to see each side's skills. If the poison master managed to escape, Luo Zheng would have to consider teaming up with Lan Xue to kill him, or endless troubles would follow.
The poison master quickly reached the gate, knocking down a few approaching police officers, but within monts, three people appeared ahead, blocking his path. The three were dressed as ninjas, carrying double swords, their whole bodies emanating a chilling killer aura, almost palpable, daunting everyone nearby into fleeing.
Luo Zheng saw three sudden ninjas of extraordinary aura and recognized them as experts, involuntarily smiling, lowering his voice to say in Lan Xue's ear, "Let's go upstairs and take a look, wonder who that guy targeted."
No sooner had he spoken than a throng of people descended from above, each furious and shouting as they pushed aside those in front, with many leaping directly from the second floor, like hungry wolves, rushing murderously towards the gate. Witnessing this, Luo Zheng was shocked, quickly pulling Lan Xue back slightly.
"Capture alive!" a domineering voice roared, and soon, soone jumped from the fifth floor of the hollow auditorium like a fierce tiger descending a mountain, landing firmly and standing motionless, face cold as ice, gaze sharp and fixed on the gate, their whole body exuding a chill of killing intent, as if Death God had descended.
"Yes!" Countless people around them heard the command and roared as they rushed towards the poison master, encircling him completely, eyes fixated on him, poised to pounce, yet the three ninjas surrounded the poison master in a triangle formation, others knowing these three's identities and temper, dared not attack.
"Shijing Kong?" Luo Zheng watched this unfold in amazent, suddenly smiled. With things developing to this point, no matter how strong the poison master was, he couldn't escape - only favored Shijing Kong. However, what had the poison master gained by going up? Shijing Ye, dead or maid, wasn't a concern, Shijing Kong seed fine, had the poison master failed? That would be a pity.
While contemplating, Luo Zheng noticed the battle at the door was underway, as the three ninjas simultaneously attacked the poison master. In one-on-one combat, the poison master was perhaps on par with one of them, but against three, it was different. If it weren't for capturing alive, the poison master would surely not withstand several rounds.
Yet, Luo Zheng suspiciously discovered Shijing Kong stood still as a statue, rely watching the fight scene, eyes cold as ever, never stepping forward, lips tightly shut, body slightly trembling. He gently nudged Lan Xue, gesturing towards Shijing Kong, Lan Xue understood and observed, quickly noticing the anomaly.
The battle at the door grew intense; for a master like Shijing Kong, he should've been aiding the capture mission upfront, at least to oversee the operation. Why stand still? Why tremble slightly? This wasn't behavior expected of a master. Lan Xue's icy gaze was filled with doubt as she looked at Luo Zheng, who nodded and whispered in her ear, "Possibly poisoned."
"Hmm." Lan Xue understood, agreeing, and made a killing gesture.
Luo Zheng shook his head; while this scene suited an ambush on Shijing Kong, revealing identity wouldn't be sensible. And since Shijing Kong was already poisoned, even if saved, they'd be weak and not a concern. More crucially, Luo Zheng needed Shijing Kong for the palace and against Yuanfei Zuo; killing Shijing Kong now would be disadvantageous.
The battle at the door suddenly shifted; losing patience, the attackers tead up for a full strike. The poison master forcefully repelled an opponent, suddenly releasing Poison Smoke to envelop the other two attackers, emitting from the sleeves. The two were instantly poisoned, but their blades also struck the poison master.
