The next morning, the air was hot and humid, making breathing difficult, and the city, quiet for a night, gradually beca noisy again. People started leaving their hos, hustling for their livelihoods once more. Soon enough, a procession caught everyone's attention. Strangely, this group didn't cause chaos; rather, they silently proceeded forward, wielding wooden sticks and other weapons, scaring nearby people into avoiding them. The road was blocked by crowds, and vehicles had to slowly follow, without daring to honk.
The group was composed entirely of young n and won, without uniform attire, yet their thousand-strong procession marched like an organized entity. Unconsciously, they arrived at the entrance of the Sam Country Embassy. These people quickly dispersed, unfurled banners and small national flags, surrounding the embassy airtight, shouting demands to surrender the killers, with so even holding up portraits.
The portraits depicted a man and a woman, precisely Steve's wife and subordinate. The crowd's emotions gradually beca agitated, shouting loudly, prompting the embassy guards to quickly co out to block, shut the gates, and request reinforcents. Ten minutes later, the group's emotions began to turn violent, hurling stones at the embassy, finding relief in doing so. More people started throwing stones at the embassy.
Without stones, they tore up pavent bricks. Strangely, a large contingent of arriving police only provided discouragent from the periphery, more symbolic than effective, without intentions of forceful intervention. Even fools knew there was sothing odd here. Passersby began to inquire, learning that the assassin who frad the international friend and their own country was hiding in the embassy, becoming enraged and joining the action.
The pavent bricks were soon torn clean and hurled entirely into the embassy. Embassy vehicles, glass, and door fras were smashed to ruins, becoming a wasteland. The embassy staff hid in the inner rooms, not daring to co out. At this point, soone in the group began climbing the gate.
The guards fired warning shots. The embassy is considered foreign soil, storming the gate is a serious offense, guards can shoot to kill. The warning shots didn't make anyone retreat; instead, many in the crowd seed to receive a signal, suddenly pulling tear gas from their bodies to throw into the embassy.
Nearly a hundred tear gas canisters appeared suddenly, hurled with overwhelming force, terrifying the people inside the embassy, their faces pale. Guards began retreating, those hiding inside attempted to close doors and windows, but they were already smashed by bricks, forcing them to retreat.
"Rush in, don't let the killers escape." Soone shouted, imdiately prompting countless agile young n to climb over the walls, rushing into the building, pulling out already prepared wet towels and goggles to wear. Soone even opened the gate, allowing more people to rush inside.
Guards fired shots; in an instant, more than a dozen fell in pools of blood, igniting the fury further as more rushed in. More than a dozen guards were shot dead in a frenzy, no one knowing who fired the shots. These front-runners charged into the office building, rapidly dispersing, starting an organized, professional search, even as chaos reigned around them. Embassy staff hid away, with no one noticing.
Once inside, they wrecked havoc, trashing surveillance, phone lines, computers, and more, roughly destroying them, driving all embassy staff into a conference room without harming them, sowhat calming the staff, who did not resist. The ambassador protested a few words but was rudely knocked down, silencing everyone.
Nearly a thousand surged into the embassy, most holding suspect photographs, searching everywhere in groups of three to five, sparing no place. Before long, they discovered the target in the residence building. The target, holding a gun, killed a few, then fled, pursued by everyone.
The target had excellent gun skills, but surrounded by many, was forced to flee madly. Just as he reached the back door, he was cornered by police. Seeing the target, the police rejoiced, imdiately raising their guns. The two targets, faces ashen, glanced back at the fierce pursuing crowd, knowing that resistance was pointless, dropped their weapons, and surrendered.
Police sward in, subduing the two targets, quickly forming a human wall to block the approaching crowd. Seeing the target captured by police, the crowd cald down and stopped. Soone shouted a few words, and nearly a thousand began to rapidly retreat; the police did not obstruct.
Steve, hiding in the command vehicle, watched the surveillance footage with a complex expression. On screen, the two targets had hoods put on and were loaded into police cars. Steve glanced at the nearby, bored, dozing Luo Zheng, his eyes suddenly serious, saying, "Your plan was perfect. I didn't expect the target to actually be hiding in the embassy. Now we've gained the upper hand, and the diplomatic troubles of storming the embassy can be set aside."
"Now worry about Sam Country; they harbored the killers, becoming suspects in the assassination case. To avoid diplomatic disputes, I bet Sam Country will jump to claim that the suspects held Sam Country passports, were Sam Country citizens, and seeking asylum in the embassy is normal, as they were unaware." Luo Zheng sneered.
"Do they think a simple claim of ignorance can erase matters?" Steve angrily said.
"What can you do otherwise? Start a war? Or issue an ineffective serious diplomatic protest?" Luo Zheng taunted, "Your country's economy is highly reliant on Sam Country. They could simply impose an economic blockade to make things difficult for you. Besides, they're a major power, militarily formidable. Not to disparage your country, but you can't defeat them. Accepting ignorance as their excuse is allowing you face, and you must admit error."
"Error in failing to protect the embassy?" Steve grimly retorted to Luo Zheng, who nonchalantly turned away. Steve knew Luo Zheng had spoken truthfully, a feeling unsettling to a person who loves his country deeply, leading him to ask, "You seem very experienced in handling such matters. If it were you, what would you do next?"
"Don't engage governnt forces, continue mobilizing the civilian power to petition the President's Mansion, demand harsh punishnt for the killers, call for the Sam Country President to account, making it globally known. Your task is to prove the captured target's identity. Once evidence is irrefutable, the Sam Country President will lose face, having to apologize publicly. Of course, be prepared; the Sam Country President will likely spin this as rely individual actions, unrelated to the state – you should understand such implicit rules." Luo Zheng explained with a cold laugh.
"You're right, but only this way can Sam Country be pressured, allowing the President to explain to the populace. As for the outco, damn it." Steve responded angrily.
"No, your victory can be amplified." Luo Zheng enticingly reminded.
