The shockwave from the missile explosion created an even more terrifying avalanche. The strong air currents ford a vortex, and it seed as if the entire sky was collapsing. Luo Zheng and the others used the mountain to block the explosion, narrowly escaping disaster. Naturally, they were unwilling to take risks again, so they dashed to the other side, leaping down the mountainside to avoid the violent gusts.
There was a thick layer of snow on the mountainside. After jumping down, their bodies sank deep into the thick snow, forming a huge pit. Once their montum stabilized, they climbed up and looked around. Snowflakes were still swirling from the mountaintop, lingering for a long ti. It seed as if the entire sky was filled with snowflakes, creating an exceptionally spectacular scene.
Everyone quickly gathered together and cautiously climbed to the edge of the mountaintop. As the swirling snow gradually decreased and fell, the aftermath of the explosion had passed, and the avalanche had stopped. The group exchanged glances, unable to resist the curiosity, they climbed to the mountaintop with caution and moved to the other side, only to find that the valley was buried in snow and no longer existed. In the face of nature's power, human strength seems insignificant.
"Hiss?" They all drew in a sharp breath, shocked by what they saw. Scenes of the missile passing by and glimpses of the terrifying avalanche flashed through their minds, causing a surge of fear.
The biting cold wind made it difficult for everyone to stand steady. Luo Zheng snapped back to reality and quickly gestured for the group to retreat. The valley was gone, and the surroundings were filled with wind and snow. Staying here was pointless. Prolonged exposure would greatly affect their bodies. The group nodded in understanding, supporting each other as they moved to the lee side.
Everyone slid down along the mountainside to the place where they had dug the Snow Cave before. Seeing that the Snow Cave was intact and had not collapsed, they couldn't help being overjoyed. They took out entrenching tools and continued to improve it. Soon, they had the Snow Cave ready and crawled inside one by one. Inside the cramped Snow Cave, away from the howling cold wind, everyone felt as if they had entered paradise. They took out sleeping bags from their backpacks, removed their camouflage suits and combat uniforms, and rubbed their numbed feet with snow.
"The missile shouldn't have missed," Lan Xue said thoughtfully.
"It probably didn't detect our retreat," Ghost Hand agreed.
"The enemy tried a final probing attack, then it started snowing. Perhaps they thought we were still in the valley. The surrounding mountains made it impossible for us to climb out without the Dragon Tooth Long Sword. They assud we couldn't escape and, combined with the missile attack, didn't bother attacking again," Mountain Eagle mused.
Luo Zheng's thoughts were the sa as the others', but more profound. As everyone shared their insights, Luo Zheng remained silent, prompting curious glances. Finally, they looked at Luo Zheng. Seeing everyone watching him, Luo Zheng smiled wryly and said, "You all make good points. Thankfully, we evacuated in ti and escaped danger. If we had been a little later or if the mountain wasn't tall enough to block the explosion's shockwave, either the avalanche or the explosion would have killed us."
"The King of Hell found us troubleso, so he didn't bother taking us," Ghost Hand laughed.
Everyone laughed, too. It was so great to be alive. A sense of relief surged through them. They secretly felt fortunate. If Luo Zheng hadn't arranged for their tily evacuation, they would all have perished. Lan Xue looked deeply at the man who repeatedly created miracles, her lover, and softly said, "How's your injury? Let take a look."
Luo Zheng turned around and lifted his shirt, allowing Lan Xue to inspect and clean his wounds. Luo Zheng looked at Ghost Hand and the others, saying, "After this explosion, the enemy will surely think we're dead and lower their guard against us, which is advantageous for us."
"What do you an?" Ghost Hand asked in surprise.
"The wind and snow outside are heavy. The enemy won't retreat overnight; they'll wait for the snowstorm to pass, probably at the earliest by morning. Then, we can follow them to see where they go. We might find the temple. That's our chance," Luo Zheng said calmly, a gleam in his eye.
"Fortune and misfortune are interdependent. Makes sense," Ghost Hand nodded in excitent.
Mountain Eagle added excitedly, "What a survival through adversity! If we can find the temple, all this hardship and shock will be worth it. We even took down over two hundred enemies, totally worth it. But the fact that the enemy accurately located us ans they have satellites. Following them is easy, but how do we ensure we're not detected by their satellites?"
"That's difficult to guarantee. We'll have to rely on luck. The enemy might think we're dead and won't bother using satellite surveillance. Let's bet on it," Luo Zheng said sowhat helplessly. Such matters are unclear to anyone, but the image of that strange mastiff flashed in his mind.
"Unfortunately, we can't communicate with the outside world. I believe they can't either. So, even if they have satellite surveillance and discover us, communication issues will prevent them from notifying their troops. As long as we find the temple's location, we can hide and act accordingly," Lan Xue's cold voice sounded.
Everyone realized the logic in the words, and Luo Zheng, in particular, noted the keyword in Lan Xue's statent: communication. He smiled and said, "Indeed, we can't communicate, and neither can they. Even if they discover us, they can't notify their troops in ti. Let's rest up and recharge our energy."
"There is a problem," Ghost Hand suddenly said gravely. Seeing everyone's curious looks, he continued, "If enemy satellites have detected us but can't communicate with their ground troops, how did the troops attack us find us? If we don't clarify this issue, we might still get surrounded."
"It must be because of that mastiff," Luo Zheng said calmly.
Everyone was montarily stunned, then nodded silently in understanding, saying no more. They crawled into their sleeping bags to rest. Apart from the mastiff, they couldn't think of any other reason. Since they identified the cause, they would shoot on sight next ti. After Lan Xue helped change his dressing, Luo Zheng also climbed into his sleeping bag for so rest.
Far away in the Fourth Squadron's command room, Hong ihua and Lan Xing lay slumped, faces grim. A huge electronic screen was frozen with the red cloud rising from the missile explosion. Under such a massive blast, both believed that Luo Zheng and the others had perished heroically. They sat dazed, not able to move.
After a while, determination replaced the pallor on Hong ihua's face, and her vacant eyes regained so light. She slowly but resolutely said, "I will lead a troop there. We must find them, alive or dead. You compile a report of the situation here and submit it."
"I'll go too," Lan Xing said decisively, a resolve gleaming in her eyes.
"No, you stay and hold the fort. That's an order," Hong ihua said indisputably, rising and walking out with firm, hurried footsteps.
