"Do we need to set out on a mission?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise, looking at Tiger King with doubt. How long had it been since they had been ordered to rest, and had the situation already spiraled out of control? Hearing Luo Zheng's words, everyone else turned their heads, equally surprised and curious, and pricked up their ears.
"No, just asking if you have any tactical advice," Tiger King quickly explained. Upon hearing this, everyone was disappointed but remained attentive. Tiger King continued, "Shadow's squadron was ordered to attack the Snow Bear Headquarters. At first, everything went smoothly, but then they were ambushed, losing a third of the team. The battle was fierce. Shadow led the troops to break through, with Snow Bear in pursuit. Three days later, Shadow's group ran out of ammunition and supplies and suddenly lost contact in the endless primitive forest; their fate is unknown, and there is still no news."
"It started well, then got ambushed. The enemy was deceitful; Shadow couldn't possibly miss that. What's really going on? Where did they disappear?" Luo Zheng asked in shock.
"The enemy was deceitful, but there was bait that Shadow had to fall for. Here's what happened: the enemy first ambushed Shadow's squad, capturing one of our wounded soldiers. To rescue the captured brother, Shadow had to give chase and was ambushed by a massive, elite division of over ten thousand troops, forcing them to break through. That's the general situation," Tiger King said seriously.
Luo Zheng fell into thought upon hearing this, gazing at the swirling leaves outside the window as if seeing the scene of Shadow and his n struggling bitterly in battle, hounded by heavy forces, his expression growing grim. Tiger King's brow furrowed in silence, waiting patiently, as did the others, none daring to speak, even Wu Miao, who entered and was stopped by a gesture from Lan Xue. Everyone looked to Luo Zheng, waiting.
After a long ti, Luo Zheng slowly withdrew his gaze, looked at Tiger King, and said, "The situation is indeed very complex. Being ferociously attacked right from the start shows that the operation was exposed. The enemy did it deliberately; capturing people was to lure Shadow into pursuit. All this was a trap. However, with Shadow's capability, escaping shouldn't be too difficult, but the troops by his side are hard to say. Without enough intelligence, it's hard to judge."
"You're suggesting that even if the entire Fourth Squadron is wiped out, Shadow can escape?" Tiger King asked, seeing Luo Zheng nod, he breathed a sigh of relief and continued, "This assessnt matches that of the analysts and expert group. If you were leading the rescue, what would you do?"
"Small teams should infiltrate, investigate the situation, and if possible, find Shadow to understand the truth before making further plans. The personnel shouldn't be too many, ideally no more than five, better if it's just two to watch each other's back," Luo Zheng suggested.
"You're suggesting the first step is to find Shadow?" Tiger King asked, surprised.
"Yes, without finding Shadow, we can't know what happened. Hastily making any plan carries risk. The second step must be determined based on the specific situation. If you can't find Shadow, then find a way to investigate the truth. In any case, all actions before knowing the truth carry great risks," Luo Zheng stated firmly.
"There are two opinions within the analyst expert group, each unable to convince the other. One is what you just said, and the other is to infiltrate Snow Bear Headquarters for a surprise attack, to hit back at the enemy's arrogance, and find the truth, then determine the next step based on the specific situation," Tiger King said thoughtfully.
"What you just ntioned is a direct offense, while what I suggested is a flexible counterattack. Both have their rits; it's a matter of philosophy, not about right or wrong. It's about benefits and drawbacks, depending on the choice. Different people have different combat styles. If it were , I would choose a flexible counterattack," Luo Zheng casually said.
"You're right, I understand now. Take care and heal; I'll co back to see you later," Tiger King nodded appreciatively, looking at Little Lang and Tiger Girl. They nodded and greeted everyone, then left with Tiger King.
Ghost Hand approached Luo Zheng and asked, "Bro, what's Tiger King getting at?"
"Nothing special, just asking for advice. Focus on healing, don't overthink. How long has it been, and your hands are itchy already?" Lan Xue scolded with slight discontent, giving Luo Zheng a knowing look.
Luo Zheng reminded knowingly, "It's nothing, don't pry into what's not your business."
"You're right, fine, let's just keep sleeping," Ghost Hand realized his curiosity might have gone too far and agreed.
"Alright, since we've finished the serious talk, let's get the IV started," Wu Miao said at the door. He walked outside and called a few nurses in. They ca pushing a cart to each person's bedside and skillfully administered injections, setting up IVs. Soon they finished, and the nurses left. Wu Miao looked at everyone and said, "Stay calm, if the needle cos out, I'm not fixing it; you'll have to do it yourself. If you feel any adverse effects, notify imdiately." Saying this, he left.
Everyone watched TV with their IVs on, idling away the day. After dinner, they freely strolled in the park outside. Lan Xue and Luo Zheng walked slowly on the path. The cold wind was a bit biting, but they didn't care, softly exchanging intimate words.
About ten minutes later, Lan Xue suddenly shifted the topic, "We suffered quite a loss this mission. So didn't even make it back during the retreat. Seven were sacrificed in total, and five were injured, with three unfit to continue on. They must move to secondary duties. Our compensations are more generous than local forces, so we needn't worry there, but losing ten in one go... Yesterday, Hong ihua ca to alone, afraid you'd be sad, asking to pass on the ssage and see what you think."
"The compensation must be adequate. We can't let the heroes bleed and cry. Doesn't our squadron have funds? Give a bit more," Luo Zheng sighed, his expression growing serious. What good brothers, just gone like that.
Lan Xue knew Luo Zheng was feeling down and didn't press further, waiting quietly. After so ti, Luo Zheng suddenly stopped, looked at Lan Xue, and said softly, "These fallen brothers must be compensated properly. I'm counting on you for this. The vacancies need to be filled quickly. I reckon after I leave the hospital, there will be missions arranged for us. Shadow's matter won't be over soon."
"Yes, I thought of that as well. I wanted to discuss sothing with you," Lan Xue said sowhat hesitantly.
"What is it? Between us, there's no need to discuss. Just say it," Luo Zheng asked, surprised, unable to figure out what Lan Xue was playing at.
"Yeah," Lan Xue awkwardly smiled under Luo Zheng's curious gaze and continued, "Can we requisition people from my cousin?"
"The Captain?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise, seeing Lan Xue nod, and he couldn't help but laugh, "That's not a big deal. The Captain's unit is my old unit too. Getting people from there isn't a problem. What's going on?"
