The snowfield canyon was as silent as death, with a gray, overcast sky. Night had fallen deep; no stars, no moon, not even a single bird could be seen. Only snowflakes swirled and flew away with the wind, occasionally so snowballs fell from tree branches to the ground, adding a bit of life to the otherwise deathly still canyon. Apart from that, everything was frightfully quiet.

The scent of blood in the air was largely scattered by the cold wind. On a hillside, a corpse was split in half, the blood dyed the surrounding snow layers a ghastly red. A light machine gun lay nearby, the bullet chain on the body was also stained red, lying in the bitter cold snow, it looked extrely horrifying. A chilling murderous aura, instead of being dispersed by the wind, beca even more fiercely pervasive, filling the canyon.

Behind a hillside, Luo Zheng lay quietly on the ground waiting. He had just seized the mont to kill an enemy; the others quickly concealed themselves on the spot. He could only judge their approximate locations, unable to see them. Luo Zheng knew these people were no ordinary foes, yet he found he had underestimated them; whether in response speed or adaptability, they were exceedingly competent, clearly all battle-hardened veterans. Facing such enemies, Luo Zheng dared not be careless.

The cold wind continued to blow, the murderous intent in the air grew heavier. The sniper rifle was terrifyingly lethal, able to snap a person within two hundred ters without issue, but facing unseen enemies, it was pointless. Luo Zheng knew he could not wait any longer; he must retreat, or he would be surrounded.

Everything was quiet around; no sound could be heard. Luo Zheng knew he could not wait anymore, packed up the sniper rifle and prepared to relocate to a hidden spot. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a dirt mound, roughly two ters high, slanted and protruding forward, with no snow beneath, forming a snow trench around two feet deep, just enough to accommodate a person.

Luo Zheng suddenly had a brainwave. He took off his backpack and threw it far away, grabbed an AK-74 rifle, chambered a round, quickly moved beneath the dirt mound, hid his body in the snow trench, then pulled so surrounding snow over himself. No one could possibly spot him unless they were right close.

Four enemies were still left, all elite experts; they would definitely anticipate his retreat. Going against expectations might yield unexpected results; Luo Zheng aid forward waiting patiently. Beside him was the dirt mound, even if the enemy was on it, they couldn't see him below the reverse slope, shielded by a thick layer of snow. Luo Zheng was not worried about being discovered.

The surroundings were silent, ti passed by the minute. The enemy showed no sign of movent, causing Luo Zheng to feel uneasy; the longer the delay, the more unfavorable it was to him. Reinforcents might have already arrived by now, ensuring his doom. Thinking about this, Luo Zheng grew anxious, tempted to charge out and fight, but still managed to control his emotions rationally, not daring to move rashly.

Five minutes had passed, yet the enemy remained inactive. Ten minutes, still no change. Luo Zheng started doubting if the enemy was still in ambush nearby. Worriedly, he glanced at the sky - so much ti had passed, the enemy reinforcents should have arrived, right? Luo Zheng was highly concerned inside, but reason told him not to go out yet. As for why exactly, even Luo Zheng himself was unsure; this feeling was quite peculiar.

Suddenly, rotor sounds ca from the sky; Luo Zheng was shocked and looked up - it was an ard helicopter. Like a War God roaring down from the heavens with unparalleled might, helicopters are infantry's nesis; Luo Zheng's face changed drastically, he dared not reveal himself.

Humans cannot outrun helicopters, moreover, there were still four enemies around. Going out now was suicide, but doing nothing ant waiting to die too. Luo Zheng was extrely anxious, face cold as frost, fierce eyes burning with anger, observing the surroundings and contemplating a plan to escape.

The ard helicopter soon roared overhead, circling perhaps to confirm ground targets, but did not launch an attack imdiately. After about two minutes, Luo Zheng saw the helicopter had yet to attack; instead, an enemy appeared in view, cautiously crawling across the snow.

Witnessing this, Luo Zheng was startled; above him was the helicopter, ahead was the enemy. Going out ant death, not fighting back risked discovery - also death, fighting back would expose him - still death. Seeing no other way, anger surged within Luo Zheng, determined to go all out. He quickly aid at the crawling target.

If dead either way, might as well take one down with him. Luo Zheng's fierce eyes narrowed to a needle-like glint, swiftly targeting the crawling figure. The foe was alert, looking around; yet his attention was quickly drawn to the backpack placed aside, completely oblivious to Luo Zheng hidden in the snow from the opposite side.

Seizing the rare chance, Luo Zheng furiously pulled the trigger, issuing three rapid shots. Bullets howled from the barrel, carrying Luo Zheng's endless wrath, swarming in a pincer formation like a tiger revealing its claws. The enemy reacted swiftly, sensing danger not by looking but by swiftly rolling to evade. But Luo Zheng had already calculated aiming positions.

Thus the target effectively presented itself, becoming a sitting duck. Three bullets hit the target almost simultaneously; one struck the head, piercing through the helt. Although bullet velocity slowed, it still penetrated the head, stirred briefly before stopping, lodging within the brain. The other three bullets struck the target on the shoulder and chest, blood burst into a grotesque bloom in the air.

The target died on the spot without a chance to utter a sound, blood imdiately seeping through the surroundings. Luo Zheng remained still, vigilantly looked up, saw the helicopter roaring above, filled with killing intent, yet did not fire, continuing to circle overhead, clearly not spotting Luo Zheng hidden below the slope.

Seeing this, Luo Zheng quietly released a sigh of relief, not daring to move, lying tightly on the ground waiting. Should he be spotted, death was certain; but staying like this wasn't viable long-term. Once reinforcents converged from all directions, he'd still be dood. Considering this, Luo Zheng quickly surveyed the surroundings, pondering an escape plan.

Then, Luo Zheng noticed soone creeping up, dragging the slain enemy's body. Luo Zheng restrained the urge to shoot and waited. Shooting now would expose himself, the ard helicopter overhead emitted a vexing hum, and the remaining three enemies could advance at any mont. What to do?

The imnse pressure made Luo Zheng tense; his muscles tightened, turning sore and stiff, cold sweat beading on his forehead. His gun-holding arm felt sowhat unresponsive, further intensifying Luo Zheng's anxiety. He silently reminded himself, he must quickly co up with a solution.
