Luo Zheng sat silently in the passenger seat, not saying a word. The motorcycle attack just now was too sharp, ca fast, and went even faster. He didn't know who was sitting in that black business car, but hopefully it wasn't Uncle Lan, otherwise it would be troubleso. Thinking about this, Luo Zheng couldn't help but glance back at Lan Xue, noticing her face was gloomy, her eyes filled with unresolvable worry, he sighed silently and urged Ghost Hand to speed up.
Ghost Hand charged all the way, crashing into several cars before finally getting off the overpass, choosing a side road to rush through. Seeing no one was following, Luo Zheng quickly signaled Ghost Hand to stop. Once everyone had taken off their masks and got out of the car, Luo Zheng gave a command, and everyone left with their gear in pairs, finding a discreet place to get a ride back to the embassy.
Luo Zheng and Lan Xue were in one group, but they didn't return to the embassy imdiately. Instead, they headed back in the direction of the overpass. When they arrived, they saw the road was completely blocked, with car owners getting out and inquiring about what happened. So police officers were there asking about the situation, clearly going up would risk exposing themselves.
"Should we head back for now?" Luo Zheng said helplessly, looking at Lan Xue.
"Let's check out the situation first." Lan Xue said grudgingly.
Luo Zheng said nothing more, and the two stood in an inconspicuous spot to observe, watching lots of police coming up to investigate, not allowing anyone on the overpass. Exchanging a resigned look, they turned and left hurriedly, maneuvering through several intersections to ensure they weren't noticed, then flagged down a taxi straight to the embassy.
On the way, Lan Xue remained silent. Luo Zheng could sense Lan Xue's distress but wasn't sure how to console her. He held her hand, hoping to share so of her burden. Throughout the ride, the taxi driver kept swearing at the police enforcing the blockade. Luo Zheng paid no attention and remained silent, which led the driver to lose interest, focusing on driving.
Before long, the taxi arrived at the embassy entrance. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue got out and walked towards the embassy. They saw Little Ma and several guards at the door, causing them to pause montarily before approaching. Little Ma, seeing the return of Luo Zheng and Lan Xue, breathed a sigh of relief and said, "So have already returned and are resting at the guest house; about a third of us haven't returned. I'm here waiting for them. You go ahead; the ambassador is waiting for you in the office."
"Alright, thank you for your hard work," Luo Zheng replied appreciatively, heading towards the ambassador's office with Lan Xue.
Soon, the two arrived at the door of the ambassador's office. The door wasn't closed, and light spilled out from inside. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue entered, seeing the ambassador in a big chair reviewing docunts. Luo Zheng closed the door behind them. The ambassador rose quickly upon their entry, gesturing for everyone to sit on the sofa and asked urgently, "What happened? Did you take action in the middle of the night?"
"We'll talk about our affairs later. There was a motorcyclist attack on police cars involving six riders. They struck and left quickly and professionally. We don't yet know the attack results, nor who was killed. Can you find out?" Luo Zheng asked with concern, holding a tight knot in his heart, worrying that if anything happened to Lan Bo, he wouldn't know how to face Lan Xue or Mr. Li.
"I'll call now to find out." The ambassador's face changed dramatically, standing up quickly to make several calls. After hanging up, he looked at Luo Zheng and said, "The Special Service Bureau and police conducted a joint operation, dismantling a group of bandits at a warehouse on the dock. Given the Special Service Bureau was involved, these bandits aren't simple. However, on the way back, the operation's commanding officer was assassinated."
"Are our people involved?" Luo Zheng stood up abruptly, anxious to inquire, his heart jumping to his throat. Lan Xue also stood, looking nervously at the ambassador, her body trembling.
The ambassador, perplexed, looked at them and said, "According to the intelligence gathered, only the commander and driver were killed, along with several policen. There aren't any outsiders. What's the matter?"
Hearing this, Luo Zheng and Lan Xue exhaled deeply, exchanged a look, sat back down, and took deep breaths to balance the tense pressure from earlier. The ambassador sat over, surprised at them, his face full of curiosity. Once Luo Zheng cald down, he smiled wryly and said, "The group at the warehouse might be the KGB who kidnapped our people."
"The KGB? Are you sure?" The ambassador's face changed dramatically, evidently cautious about the KGB, watching Luo Zheng closely. As Luo Zheng nodded, his expression grew increasingly serious, pondering before asking further, "You an the KGB kidnapped our people, then Sam Country discovered them, leading the Special Service Bureau and police to rescue them? And then the operation leader was assassinated on their way back?"
"It's entirely possible," Luo Zheng said earnestly.
"If so, it ans the people we're looking for fell into the Special Service Bureau's hands," the ambassador continued to ask, "May I ask how you obtained this intelligence? Are you sure?"
Luo Zheng thought for a mont and recounted the night's operation briefly, astonishing the ambassador whose face changed color, staring fixedly at Luo Zheng. After a while, he beca excited, flushed with enthusiasm, and said, "You must be military personnel, right? Only military would solve problems this way; I like it—this is what n should be. Unfortunately, I couldn't fight alongside you, but you stirred the snake, and it's going to be hard afterward."
"That's not the key issue. The key is to rescue our people before they are sent away. Is there a possibility of putting diplomatic pressure?" Luo Zheng said gravely.
"No, Sam Country has already labeled our people as terrorists. Although there's no evidence, it's tough to make them release anyone. It requires legal procedures and submission to the United Nations for a trial; only when the verdict is not guilty can they be freed. But Sam Country has close relations with many high-ranking United Nations officials, and we might not win this legal battle. Therefore, diplomatic channels are almost negligible and would serve better to plan a rescue," the ambassador explained.
"We don't even know where they are held or when they'll be sent away," Luo Zheng said helplessly.
"If they're headed to the Dark Prison, there's only one route. But is this intelligence reliable?" the ambassador hesitated, cautiously reminding, looking at Luo Zheng with more warmth and approval in his gaze.
"Let's not worry about the authenticity for now. Without more accurate information, we can only choose to believe it and make corresponding strategies. What's your opinion?" Luo Zheng hastily said.
"There is only one route to the Dark Prison from here and that's via railroad. Based on past experiences, they will likely use an armored train to escort out of town, then stop at an interdiary station for a night to resupply and transfer to vehicles into the desert's Dark Prison the next day. You've already stirred the snake; the enemy will definitely seize the opportunity to set traps to kill. Shouldn't this be considered further?" the ambassador reminded gravely.
