The team raced all the way and rushed into the valley in one breath. The enemy did not launch another attack for unknown reasons, and everyone secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The team was already battered, and if the enemy launched another attack, it would be difficult for everyone to survive. After returning to the valley, the wounded were quickly carried into the caves for treatnt, and the others went back to rest. Luo Zheng dared not rest and began patrolling the valley.
Many caves had been blasted into the cliffs around the valley, and there were also many Hidden Soldier Caves below, where so soldiers were on alert. They seed very solid and well-hidden. There were platforms on both sides for people to rush out and shoot, providing high flexibility. Luo Zheng satisfiedly asked around and learned that every hiding spot was still being dug deeper, aiming to reach more than three ters. This depth could greatly increase everyone's survival rate.
There was a Dark Fortress at the mouth of the valley, and there were people digging trenches, working in full swing. Luo Zheng was uneasy and went up to check. The person in charge was Bao Li, who hurried over. Unfortunately, there was a language barrier, so Luo Zheng had to have soone notify Hook. Hook, who was handling so matters, rushed over upon hearing the news and asked Luo Zheng, "What's going on?"
Luo Zheng pointed to the trenches being dug ahead and said, "Three are not enough. Add two more. All should be five ters deep with platforms for standing in the middle; wooden ladders or fras for standing can work too, but it must be five ters deep. Below, dig Hidden Soldier Caves. Also, one central communicating trench is not enough; two more must be added, on the sides. Communicating trenches should be two ters deep. Inform your people not to cross the trenches, and I'll have explosives planted in front."
"Understood." Hook replied solemnly, picking up a walkie-talkie to communicate with his people.
"It would be best to add two Dark Fortresses on either side, at those two positions." Lan Xue suggested, pointing at the two sides of the cliffs. Luo Zheng looked over, nodded, and looked at Hook, who agreed upon understanding. Lan Xue continued, "I'll handle the explosives. You should take a rest."
"I'm fine. You go rest. I'll have Shadow, Snow Fox, and the others co over. They've had so rest. I'll take another look. With the battle imminent, I feel better staying here." Luo Zheng worriedly looked at the sky and continued, "It's getting dark; let's hope the enemy doesn't launch another attack soon."
"They shouldn't. We've suffered heavy losses, but the enemy has suffered even more. The previous engagent killed or wounded over three hundred of their n. They can't bear such a big loss easily. They should be deliberating new tactics against us now. The terrain here is treacherous, so we don't need to worry about aerial attacks. It can be both a stronghold and a retreat. Holding out for a while shouldn't be a big problem unless the enemy uses a nuclear weapon." Lan Xue said earnestly.
"A nuclear weapon is also my biggest concern. Even a small one would be unbearable. So, besides defending and retreating, it's best if we can attack too. The battle would be more flexible then. Fortunately, the Hook Tribe has two units outside. I plan to send Ghost Hand and the Snow Leopard Team out to contact those two units for combat. What do you think?" Luo Zheng suddenly whispered.
"Okay." Lan Xue pondered for a mont and then nodded in agreent.
"Alright, let them rest first, and we'll talk later." Luo Zheng nodded, calmly surveying the surroundings, signaling Lan Xue to go rest. Lan Xue, not hesitating, nodded and left. By this ti, Hook had finished notifying the troops and ca over. Luo Zheng inquired, "How are the deploynts here?"
"The elderly, won, and children have all been evacuated. A lot of Golden Soup Poison has been brewed, and other necessary supplies are almost ready. Do you think there's anything else that needs to be done?" Hook quickly answered.
"Make sure the logistics and living arrangents are well taken care of. As for weapons and ammunition, I'll handle that." Luo Zheng stated seriously, and seeing Hook nod, he gestured for Hook to accompany him. The two checked around from the trenches to the caves, from equipnt to treating the wounded, and so on.
After a thorough inspection of the situation, it was getting dark. The enemy still hadn't launched an attack, but everyone dared not relax, their nerves taut. Construction was still ongoing, racing against ti. Hook had arranged for food, including rice, potatoes, wild fruits, and stewed at, among other things.
After eating and drinking, Luo Zheng and Hook walked out of the cave and ca to the valley entrance. Seeing everyone still digging fortifications, the progress was good. He checked the sky; night had fallen, and the enemy still hadn't appeared. Luo Zheng secretly breathed a sigh of relief, observing for a mont, before instructing Hook to inform everyone to work overnight and try to finish before dawn.
Not long after, Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard arrived together. Luo Zheng motioned for the two to co over and addressed Hook, "Old friend, I'm planning to send them out to find your troops to harass the enemy's rear supply lines. Here, the mountains are high and forests dense. Besides airdrops, the enemy's equipnt relies on manual labor. The wounded and logistics bases are targets for surprise attacks. Let your people follow their lead. Any problems?"
"No problem." Hook replied without hesitation.
"Are there any problems that need solving?" Luo Zheng turned to Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard, asking.
The two thought for a mont and exchanged a glance before Ghost Hand said, "There's no big issue. Attacking the enemy's logistics base is a lucrative task, with no shortage of food and supplies. The language barrier is a bit troubleso, but we'll find a way. You take care of yourself."
"Originally, you probably should have stayed to rest, but with the battle imminent, I need your help, brothers, so I'm sorry for the trouble. Be careful, and your task is to harass the enemy's rear, be flexible and mobile, avoid head-on confrontations." Luo Zheng seriously instructed.
"Guerrilla warfare? We get it, don't worry." Snow Leopard nonchalantly said.
"Alright, get ready. The enemy shouldn't launch another attack tonight. Our supplies will be air-dropped before dawn. Then you can take Red Banner Six with you when you leave. With this air defense, it'll be much easier to fight. Go rest." Luo Zheng gratefully added.
"Yes." The two replied, turned, and left.
"Red Banner Six, what's that?" Hook curiously asked.
"A type of man-portable air defense missile, carried on the back during marches, and fired while standing or kneeling during combat. It can be launched in open fields, trenches, swamps, rooftops, or on slow-moving armored vehicles. The missile is small, lightweight, operates flexibly and simply, making it easy to carry and conceal. It's an effective weapon against low and ultra-low altitude aircraft and helicopters." Luo Zheng explained seriously.
"Like an RPG?" Hook continued to ask.
"Similar, but much more powerful. More importantly, it can be guided by infrared and optics, tracking targets for attack." Luo Zheng smiled.
"I see, that's great. With this, we don't have to worry about air defense!" Hook's eyes lit up with excitent, eagerly asking.
