The next morning, a gentle breeze swept through the vast forest, the tree canopies swaying with the wind like waves of green. The azure sky was dotted with a few white clouds, while two large birds soared high up. The branches ca alive with the sounds of various birds and beasts chirping, emitting all kinds of strange noises. Sunlight filtered through the dense foliage, dappling the ground with spots of light, making the scene enchantingly beautiful.
Due to the tree canopies blocking the sunlight, no grass grew under the forest, which was covered with dry leaves and branches. Huge tree roots were exposed, looking like giant pythons snaking along the ground. On these roots sat many fully-ard people eating in silence, wiping their weapons from ti to ti, and glancing occasionally at the officers sitting together not far away. These were none other than the Hook Tribe's ard forces who had retreated overnight.
Luo Zheng ate so dried food and drank so water, then accepted a wild fruit that Lan Xue handed over and began to gnaw on it. The vast primitive forest had no shortage of wild fruits, and these fruits were great for supplenting vitamins. Luo Zheng ate the fruit in a few bites and casually tossed the pit aside before opening the signal device.
Soon, the signal device connected to the satellite, and Lan Xing's excited voice ca through: "Great, you're all okay?"
"We're fine. What's the situation outside now?" Luo Zheng asked casually.
"Hunter was sent out of the forest overnight and taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown and is under lockdown; we can't find out for now. The enemy is about thirty kiloters behind you resting. Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard have engaged in several small-scale ambushes with good results, but they have hidden themselves for now. That's basically the situation," Lan Xing replied.
"They're quite persistent. Give the coordinates of the enemy missile base," Luo Zheng said nonchalantly with a smile.
"Understood," Lan Xing responded.
After receiving the coordinates, Luo Zheng cut off communication and began to think. Lan Xue, beside him, asked quietly in Chinese, "What's up? Is there a new plan?"
Luo Zheng also replied in Chinese in a low voice, "Our original plan was to seize the enemy missile base to rescue people and threaten the surrounding countries. But now so many things have happened, and the enemy is very determined. Having been defeated by us this ti, they will definitely be indignant, and they might reinforce their troops. That's a big problem."
"Yes, the Sam Country will never admit defeat, nor can they afford to lose. To resolve the current situation, we have to fight to the end. Reinforcents are inevitable. If they succeed in reinforcing, it will bring us greater difficulties and pressure. What are your thoughts?" Lan Xue agreed and asked further.
"Reinforcents are inevitable; it's just a matter of when and how many. It seems we need to adjust our original plan," Luo Zheng said, looking at Captain Li, Shadow, and the others.
"No longer seizing the missile base?" Captain Li asked in surprise.
"No, the missile base must be destroyed. Seizing it may not be the most suitable for us. Initially, the plan to seize it was to save people and deter surrounding countries. Now the battle situation is sowhat out of control; the Sam Country may escalate the war at any ti. Even if we seize it, they can wipe us out with a single long-range missile. So we must adjust our target according to the current situation and change the objective from seizure to destruction," Luo Zheng explained seriously.
"Destruction is simpler. I can lead a team over," Shadow said indifferently.
"There's no need to trouble you with such a small task. I can lead a team over," Captain Li also quickly said.
Destroying the enemy missile base would be a great achievent. With Red Banner Six available, everyone wasn't worried about completing the mission, so they each began to争抢起来. Hook, who didn't understand Chinese, looked at Luo Zheng curiously, and Luo Zheng explained the situation with a smile. Hook imdiately said, "No, this is our war; we must participate."
"Alright, stop arguing, listen to the arrangent," Lan Xue quickly ca out to diate.
Everyone looked at Luo Zheng, their eyes full of fervor. Luo Zheng didn't issue orders imdiately but fell into thought. Everyone knew he was contemplating and did not interrupt, patiently waiting. After a while, Luo Zheng looked at Hook and said, "There are pursuers about thirty kiloters behind us; we need to divide our forces."
"How do we divide?" Hook eagerly asked.
"Your troops stay behind to hold off the pursuers. Arrange an elite team to co with us. I'll lead a team to take out the enemy missile base," Luo Zheng replied.
"Alright, I'll take the guard team with you. Is a hundred n enough?" Hook agreed without hesitation.
"You?" Luo Zheng didn't expect Hook to want to go personally. After thinking it over, he realized Hook's presence could be advantageous and nodded in agreent, then looked at Captain Li and continued, "Brother Li, your n will stay behind and handle the pursuers; you decide how to fight. Hook's people will cooperate with your actions."
"Yes," Captain Li quickly agreed, his eyes flashing with determination. Although destroying the enemy missile base would be a significant achievent, eliminating pursuers behind them would also be a notable feat. He looked at Hook.
"No problem, I'll arrange them well and ensure they absolutely follow your command," Hook said knowingly and quickly.
"Thank you. I'll ensure minimal casualties for your troops and eliminate the pursuers, and we'll get you so more equipnt," Captain Li said gratefully.
"Thanks," Hook replied with a grateful smile.
"Leave a squad behind for air defense," Luo Zheng instructed Wei Jian.
"Yes," Wei Jian promptly replied.
"Everyone else, follow ," Luo Zheng looked at Shadow and the others and ordered sternly.
"Yes," everyone answered excitedly, their fighting spirit high.
Luo Zheng looked at Captain Li and said in a deep voice, "There's a gorge back this way, ideal for an ambush. You can launch an active attack, catching the enemy off guard and drawing their attention to cover our movents. The specific tactical arrangents are up to you, but be sure to stay alive; in no more than two days, we'll make our move. Once we succeed, move the forces to the original Hook Tribe's location."
"Understood," Captain Li replied decisively, then looked at the others around him and said solemnly, "Brothers, take care."
"Everyone, prepare. We're leaving in three minutes," Luo Zheng looked at everyone, his gaze falling firmly on Hook.
"Yes," everyone responded, getting up and starting their preparations. Hook went to make arrangents.
Luo Zheng watched everyone preparing, his expression becoming solemn. Both the task of dealing with the pursuing enemy and attacking the enemy missile base were not simple. Casualties were inevitable, though he hoped not too many. His gaze fell on the other warriors who were maintaining their weapons, feeling sowhat heavy-hearted.
"What's wrong?" Lan Xue asked softly in Chinese.
"Nothing. Let's get ready too," Luo Zheng said casually, secretly resolving to minimize casualties, as his eyes gradually beca sharp.
