"It was his idea. He told to do it." The bald man, frightened out of his wits, confessed quickly, hoping to lessen his charges, realizing from the police's arrival and Ghost Hand's swagger that they had ssed with soone untouchable, especially after the young man's police officer father was knocked unconscious.
"You bastard," Ghost Hand roared, snatching the gun back from Shi Feng's hands and quickly fired two shots at the young man's legs as he lay on the sofa. The bullets hit him with two loud bangs.
"Ah—" the young man scread in agony, regaining consciousness only to pass out again from the intense pain, lying motionless on the sofa.
"You?" Shi Feng was caught off guard by Ghost Hand's brutality. To injure soone right in front of him was beyond the pale, and he looked to Luo Zheng for intervention.
Luo Zheng stepped forward coldly and addressed Shi Feng, "Director Shi, not killing him with a shot to the head was giving you face. Take away those crouching against the wall, and this officer, too. I hope you investigate how police-issued weapons ended up in civilian hands. As for this bald guy and the young man, I'm taking them."
"Isn't that a problem? Matters of public safety fall under our jurisdiction." Shi Feng reminded with a strained smile, "I'm a police officer; what you're doing puts in a tough spot."
"You're right, public safety is indeed your concern, but we're not under you," Luo Zheng said coldly, giving Shi Feng no room to maneuver on this matter.
"But they're civilians and fall under our jurisdiction. Hand them over to ; I'll ensure justice is served," Shi Feng explained with a wry smile.
"No need. They injured a military dependent, not an ordinary person. Injuring a military dependent requires a military tribunal. The military tribunal will decide what to do with these two. If I didn't care to give you face, I would take everyone involved with ," Luo Zheng replied bluntly, unwilling to compromise on this issue.
"Military dependent?" Shi Feng glanced at Yu Xin with surprise but refrained from further protests. Instead, he focused on the officer, his face darkening and brow furrowed in thought before telling Luo Zheng, "I'll thoroughly investigate the gun issue. There are always a few bad apples in the system. I'll submit a report and call for rectification. Rest assured, I'll handle it impartially and give you an explanation." With that, he imdiately called for support.
Ghost Hand gave Luo Zheng a grateful look and signaled to Snow Leopard. Understanding the gesture, Snow Leopard went over to lift the unconscious young man, while Ghost Hand picked up the hefty bald man effortlessly, like carrying a chicken. Luo Zheng glanced at Shi Feng and said, "We've fought together before, and I trust you. This incident won't affect our future cooperation. It's in your hands now. We're leaving."
"Alright, don't worry," Shi Feng responded gratefully.
Ghost Hand handed the seized gun back to Shi Feng and left with the bald man. Shi Feng looked at the gun in his hand, puzzled about how police-issued weapons ended up with civilians. Suddenly, he realized there could be a bigger case within this affair. Handling it well might be a significant achievent, which filled him with joy. Watching Luo Zheng and his entourage leave, a sense of gratitude welled up in him, resolving to handle the case properly.
When Luo Zheng and his group stepped outside, they found Little Dao waiting, flanked by his n. Luo Zheng frowned slightly and exchanged a glance with Ghost Hand. Understanding, Ghost Hand walked forward, saying, "These bastards ca to your place to cause trouble, targeting you, but they also laid a hand on my woman. That involves you to so extent. We'll handle the scene; you take care of the aftermath."
"Understood. I won't let these bastards off for causing trouble," Little Dao quickly replied.
"As long as you know what to do, disperse your n," Ghost Hand said satisfactorily. Although they took away the bald man and the young man, since the bald man was competing with Little Dao for turf, he likely wasn't a good person. Taking out his group could also help Little Dao expand his territory and influence, benefiting everyone in the future.
Little Dao, seeing that Ghost Hand wasn't holding a grudge over the incident, hurriedly ordered his n to disperse, respectfully seeing Luo Zheng and his team off. They reached the parking lot, and after making a phone call, Lan Xue told Snow Leopard and Mountain Eagle, "You two stay here. Soone will co soon to pick up these bastards. Ghost Hand, take Sister Xin and your sister back first. The rest of us will go in one car," she said, looking at Luo Zheng and Little Sister.
"Understood." Everyone replied in unison. Ghost Hand left with his sister and Yu Xin, while Luo Zheng motioned Little Sister into the car. Lan Xue glanced at Lan Xing, and both of them got into the car and drove off.
On the road, Lan Xue suddenly expressed concern, saying, "Little Dao will likely take this opportunity to absorb the bald man's territory and power, growing his own. Could this beco a problem?"
"It won't. Little Dao has been under our surveillance," Lan Xing replied from the side.
"What do you an?" Lan Xue asked curiously.
"People from headquarters' Political Departnt are watching them. However, Little Dao is also smart. Since getting to know us, he's achieved many rits and has restrained himself a lot. He hasn't committed any more cris and has effectively laundered himself. Otherwise, we would have taken down his organization long ago," Lan Xing explained.
"I see. Well, having him grow is beneficial for us," Lan Xue remarked with a smile.
"It's good as long as things remain controlled. This kid is smart and ambitious. The bigger his influence, the more advantageous for us, especially in gathering information and intelligence from the underworld. As long as it's within a controllable scope, it's fine. Let's not talk about that. The bar incident is nothing major for us. Enjoy the New Year peacefully; we'll regroup in five days. There might be tasks ahead," Luo Zheng said, genuinely unconcerned about the bar incident. It was just a matter of so low-level thugs and a spoiled rich kid, not complicated and best left to a military tribunal.
"True, no need to worry about sothing like this," Lan Xue agreed.
"By the way, Little Sister, don't tell Mom and Dad about this incident to avoid worrying them. Also, be careful when going to such places in the future. Better not go alone. If sothing really happens, just ntion Little Dao's na," Luo Zheng advised Lan Xing, a pensive look crossing his face.
Lan Xue knew Luo Zheng was deep in thought but found it inappropriate to discuss with Little Sister present. She figured it might be related to rescuing soone from the Dark Prison and started contemplating a plan.
Lan Xing, bored, opened her phone to play and suddenly said, "Sis, brother-in-law, that thief has co to Beijing. His location shows he's at a nearby hotel. He's got guts, not running away."
"Tell him I'll et him tomorrow. Xue Er, co with . We've delayed long enough, ti to act on what's promised," Luo Zheng said thoughtfully.
"Sure, I'll co find you tomorrow morning," Lan Xue readily agreed.
