After discussing so details, Luo Zheng exchanged the newly purchased phone numbers with everyone, and then Luo Zheng and Ghost Hand returned to Ghost Hand's ho. Ghost Hand caught up with his family while Luo Zheng went to his room to rest. The next morning, after breakfast, they set off, hailed a cab to the downtown area, and walked through the bustling comrcial district. Ghost Hand continually comnted on the passing beauties, fully embodying the persona of a spoilt young master. Luo Zheng, already accustod to this, interrupted when Ghost Hand showed no signs of stopping, "Hey, don't forget we have another thing to do besides being bait."
"Oh, right, look at my mory, I forget everything when I see beautiful won," Ghost Hand said apologetically with a smile, looked around, and then pointing to the surrounding tall buildings, he added, "The city's streets intersect, with large, sturdy, and dense buildings, and complicated underground structures significantly affecting both sides' combat actions, which is spoken of as having four advantages and disadvantages."
"Huh?" Luo Zheng listened attentively to his surroundings.
"First, it's advantageous for 'defense' but disadvantageous for 'attack.' The defending side can use the tall buildings and extensive underground structures to build strong fortresses, lay landmines and various obstacles extensively within the urban area, snipe from high vantage points controlling the area, and coordinate crossfires using buildings and streets. However, for the attacking side, it often involves breaching points and close-quarter alley fights, coupled with unknown terrain and enemy positions, making them prone to ambushes and sniper shots," Ghost Hand elaborated confidently.
Luo Zheng, encountering these concepts for the first ti, found them reasonable. Being a soldier, he quickly grasped Ghost Hand's points and noted them down, analyzing the reasoning with the surrounding terrain.
"It's advantageous for 'solitude' but disadvantageous for 'unity.' In urban combat, wired telecommunication is not agile, and wireless communication, especially VHF and UHF, suffers from high buildings interference and disruptions from sound, light, and magnetic sources; signaling with flags or hand signals is obstructed by walls and buildings, complicating communication; the face-off is small-scale, mostly at squad or individual levels, with enemies often separated by rely a street or a wall, making it difficult to coordinate and command together, hence favoring individual engagents over joint operations," Ghost Hand continued and casually whistled at a passing beauty.
"Can't you be serious?" Luo Zheng said sowhat exasperatedly.
"I am serious. 'A bad boy is the type girls love,'" Ghost Hand responded laughingly, unconcerned, but while his eyes wandered to the surrounding beauties, they searched alertly for sothing. He took his work seriously despite the playful exterior. He continued, "The third point is it's advantageous for 'closeness' but disadvantageous for 'distance.' The existing military equipnt is mainly designed for general terrain, which maximizes its strengths in such environnts. In urban combat, these advantages are greatly diminished due to the irregular and complex operational environnt. Large-scale reconnaissance systems, aerial firepower, and long-range artillery struggle to perform effectively."
"That makes sense," Luo Zheng agreed aningfully.
"Nonsense, would I lie to you?" Ghost Hand said discontentedly, "The fourth point is it's advantageous for 'light' but disadvantageous for 'heavy.' Buildings close at hand obscure the view, limiting both visibility and firing range, creating nurous blind spots for observation and shooting, making scouting and surveillance difficult, and not conducive to exerting firepower; narrow alleys hinder the maneuverability of tanks and other armored vehicles, and being on main roads, they are vulnerable to anti-tank weapons, posing a significant risk; military and non-military targets are closely connected, making it necessary during warti to destroy military targets while also considering the protection of vital non-military targets, thus favoring the use of light weapons, while the use of heavy weapons is greatly restricted."
"I get it now; got any more cool stuff? Bring it all out," Luo Zheng said with a smile, his eyes filled with gratitude.
"There's more; it would take days to learn everything. What I just talked about was combat theory. Next, I'll tell you about tactical applications like concentrating strengths, key breakthroughs, multiple route attacks, encirclents; three-dinsional assaults, strikes on critical points; fighting while clearing, combining efforts; encircling and besieging, multiple coordinated actions; clever use of terrain, combining soldiers, firearms, and obstacles; focusing on vital targets, sensible force deploynt; bombing, blocking, sniping, and diverse strategies; stealth, ambush, harrying, offensive annihilation," Ghost Hand listed nine tactics in one breath, continuing to elucidate on each tactic's application using specific cases for Luo Zheng.
As they talked back and forth, ti flew quickly, and unnoticed it was noon. Ghost Hand, parched and hardly able to speak, complained, "You're a learning freak, all you know is to learn; didn't you see my mouth is too dry to talk? Let's go, ti to eat."
Luo Zheng, still imrsed in urban combat skills he just learned, like a dry sponge eagerly absorbing moisture, hadn't even noticed Ghost Hand's dry throat. Hearing Ghost Hand's complaint, he awkwardly smiled and agreed, "Uh? Sure, but you're treating, I've got no money."
"Co on, big brother will treat you to a steak, how about that?" Ghost Hand said helplessly.
"Sure, what's that?" Luo Zheng asked curiously.
Ghost Hand, frustrated and resigned, said, "Just follow ; you'll see."
They quickly entered a large shopping mall and went to a Western restaurant on the fifth floor, choosing a seat by the window. Knowing Luo Zheng was unfamiliar with Western cuisine and unwilling to ask more, Ghost Hand ordered his favorite and asked the server to bring two servings. After the server left, Luo Zheng looked around and whispered, "Bro, this spot by the window, makes it easy for soone to sniper from a distance, see across the street?"
"We're bait now; what kind of bait hides? I chose this spot on purpose," Ghost Hand responded irritably, but still looked in the direction Luo Zheng pointed, across the street to an office building with floor-to-ceiling windows that hid the interior. Suddenly, a sense of foreboding surged, startling him, and he quickly began to search.
"What's up?" Luo Zheng, seeing that sothing was amiss with Ghost Hand, asked in surprise.
"I don't know; just doesn't feel right. Be careful; we should change spots," Ghost Hand said decisively, feeling increasingly uneasy though not knowing why, and stood up, giving Luo Zheng a look.
Luo Zheng leaned back in his chair to stand, but suddenly, a piercing sound whizzed by right in front of him, re centiters away, nearly hitting him. Had he not leaned back at that mont, he would have been hit. The sound was eerily familiar; Luo Zheng was terrified and quickly rolled to the ground, scrambling to one side.
"Ah!" A scream erupted, deafeningly loud.
