"So fast." Luo Zheng watched the flickering Black Shadow in the grass ahead in surprise and imdiately drew his pistol, firing repeatedly at the shadow to slow it down. He whispered to Lan Xue, "Xue Er, quick, open fire and stop him. Keep changing your shooting position to create the illusion that there are five shooters."

"Understood." Lan Xue replied as she wielded an automatic assault rifle in one hand and a pistol in the other, firing both weapons before swiftly changing positions. Since there were a total of five of them, if the bald man realized there were only two, he would definitely beco cautious and hide, and an unseen bald man was even more dangerous.

Fortunately, there wasn't much wind on the grassland, so the spread of the fire wasn't rapid. By deliberately exposing their position, the bald man gave up on lighting more fires and fiercely pursued them instead. Ghost Hand and the others, hidden in the foxholes, were undisturbed and continued to lie in wait, ready to strike. Luo Zheng fired while constantly changing his position, drawing the enemy closer to the ambush.

However, the bald man seed to sense sothing, or perhaps he feared land mines, having discovered so on the original path. He didn't imdiately pursue but instead circled the surrounding grass, occasionally returning fire with one or two shots, each of which made Luo Zheng extrely wary. The man's combat sniping abilities were impressive; he was fast and accurate. Hadn't Luo Zheng trained for several months, he likely wouldn't have been able to dodge the assault.

Luo Zheng leaped like a tiger into the grass, evading another shot from the bald man. He whispered, "Xue Er, cease firing, look for an opportunity." His voice transmitted to Lan Xue through the headset, who acknowledged softly. The grassland that had been whistling with bullets monts before suddenly quieted down to only the rustling of the dry grass in the wind.

Everyone hid in the grass, not daring to move recklessly. Luo Zheng pricked up his ears, listening intently for any sounds in the surroundings as he crawled forward with hands and feet in use. Like a python slowly stalking its prey, with each crawl of three or four ters, he would stop and wait, continuing toward his target only after ensuring there was no danger.

"Control motion with stillness," Lan Xue's voice ca softly through the headset. Luo Zheng was startled then realized what to do. He put down his backpack and the M99 semi-automatic sniper rifle and picked up the automatic assault rifle, switching it to burst mode. In this mode, the weapon could fire 6-10 bullets in rapid succession. Facing an expert, if one shot couldn't kill, he'd have to rely on a barrage of bullets to prevail.

It was dead quiet all around. The bald man had also gone into hiding, and without any noise, Luo Zheng was patient. Seeing the fire approaching, he quickly searched left and right, preparing to evacuate. Suddenly, a thought struck him: could the bald man do the exact opposite of what was expected and hide behind the approaching fire for a surprise attack?

Actions of a skilled fighter are often unconventional and cannot be inferred by common logic. Normally, the bald man would hide and wait for an opportunity in a concealed spot, not behind the fire. The temperature on the grassland was already high, and hiding behind the fire was unbearable due to the intense heat—very dangerous. Who would hide there?

On the battlefield, nothing is impossible, only unforeseen. The more dangerous a place, the more likely it is to be overlooked. Luo Zheng, adept at counterintuitive thinking, felt sothing amiss and observed carefully. The fire drew closer, with thick smoke billowing, limiting visibility. Luo Zheng could not see clearly but did not give up, continuing to watch.

During his observation, Luo Zheng's sharp eyes grew more cautious. He had a hunch that sothing was off. A figure followed closely behind in the rolling smoke. Had a gust of wind not blown and dispersed so of the smoke, Luo Zheng would not have spotted the figure behind it. Alard, he quickly aid his gun, filled with admiration. That guy was actually hiding behind the smoke—indeed formidable.

Once he had spotted his target, Luo Zheng was no longer in a hurry. He waited quietly, and when the enemy was less than ten ters from the ambush, he knew the mont had co. Luo Zheng's spirit surged. He whispered into the headset, "Target, ten o'clock direction, ten ters away. On my count to three, everyone fire together."

"Understood." Everyone responded in hushed tones, their faint voices masked by the wind and crackling fire, barely audible half a ter away—no worry of being overheard by the enemy. They all quickly readjusted, ready to strike.

Luo Zheng watched the target who did not change direction, his vigilant eyes blazing with an intense will to battle. The man had co alone, seeking vengeance—too arrogant. He whispered the count, "One, two, three, fire!"

"Da da da!" Five n, five guns, almost simultaneously aid at the target and opened fire, coordinating a fierce assault. A barrage of bullets imdiately ford, cutting off all the bald man's escape routes. His face turned pale with fright, as he hadn't expected to be discovered, let alone nearly surrounded.

Luo Zheng and Lan Xue's positions were sowhat anticipated by the bald man, but Ghost Hand, Snow Leopard, and Mountain Eagle were hidden in foxholes, silent throughout, never revealing themselves. The intense combined fire from the five n quickly beca a death sentence. A bullet viciously penetrated the bald man's thigh, causing him to stagger. His body was then struck by more bullets, riddling him with nurous bloody holes, and like a calf struck down, his sturdy body collapsed.

Luo Zheng quickly crossed through the fire and approached the bald man. His cold gun muzzle aid at the man's forehead. Seeing that the bald man's consciousness was dissipating, with his eyes filled with unwillingness and confusion, dead set on Luo Zheng, he sneered and said, "I can kill them, I can kill you. Kid, die without closure." Then, he pulled the trigger.

"Pff!" The pistol bullet entered the man's forehead, leaving a bloody hole.

Lan Xue and the others also rushed over, looking at the bald man who had turned into a corpse, their hearts still in their throats. Lan Xue asked, "How did you find him?"

"It's a funny story. I figured this guy was an expert, and experts do things differently from ordinary people, not playing by the rules. The area behind the fire is the most dangerous, and normally, no one would think to hide right behind a fire, so I kept an eye out. Just then, a gust of wind blew so thick smoke aside, and I saw a human silhouette, so I targeted him." Luo Zheng explained nonchalantly.

"You really are a lucky charm on the battlefield. Even Lady Luck helps you," Lan Xue remarked with so emotion.

"Was this bastard really that formidable?" Ghost Hand asked in surprise. He had been hiding in a foxhole during the fight and couldn't see anything; he had only heard the gunshots.

"The two of us together couldn't hit him. What do you think?" Lan Xue retorted.

Ghost Hand knew all too well about Lan Xue and Luo Zheng's gun skills. If the two of them together couldn't manage it, how formidable must that person have been? His expression changed, and he chuckled sheepishly, "Indeed formidable, but still, we managed to kill him." Saying this, he crouched down to check the man's equipnt: an SVD sniper rifle, plenty of bullets, and a backpack full of gear.

"Give the gun and bullets. Take the food and water with us, and bury the rest in the foxhole, just in case," Luo Zheng suggested, looking into the distance. The vast plains were silent, seemingly undisturbed by the sound of gunfire.

"What's the plan after taking this?" Ghost Hand handed over the SVD sniper rifle and asked.
