The ones laying ambush were positioned above, Luo Zheng estimated the distance to be about a kiloter from himself, the people by the river were over two kiloters away from him, and those laying ambush were also over a kiloter away from the river people. Such a distance was sowhat long, not suited for a sudden assault. Luo Zheng observed for a while and whispered, "It seems that this group isn't planning to launch a surprise attack; they're probably waiting for an opportunity."
"Could it be that they're planning to attack at night?" Lan Xue asked surprisingly.
Luo Zheng lifted his sniper scope to observe and noticed that the people by the river looked like the Yellow Race, which made him pause. He adjusted the focus and started observing ticulously while unsurely asking, "What nationality do you think the people by the river are from?"
"Short stature, bandy-legged, could they be Japanese? Wait a mont." As Lan Xue spoke, he adjusted his sniper scope to carefully identify them. With a serious expression, after a while, Lan Xue put down the sniper scope and stated seriously, "There's one guy with a ren dan beard, he must be Japanese; such a habit is exclusive to the Japanese, no mistake."
"Japanese? Talk about a small world," Luo Zheng said coldly and signaled Ghost Hand and others through his earphone to also move up cautiously. Everyone hid in the bushes and continued to observe. Luo Zheng asked, "Guys, can you confirm what the other party is? If they are Japanese, then we wouldn't mind killing these invaders."
"Confird," Ghost Hand and the others expressed their acknowledgnt.
Seeing that everyone agreed, a cold smile appeared on Luo Zheng's lips. He had missed the great battle against Japan, but this was a good opportunity. Lan Xue whispered beside him, "Sothing seems off. Look, the ambushers aren't ambushing, and the invaders are recklessly exposed by the river. Could this be a trap?"
"Hiss?" Upon hearing this, Luo Zheng imdiately realized, those who could co to this competition were no fools, including the Japanese. Them carelessly setting fires and eating, there had to be a reason behind it. Looking again at the motionless ambushers, why weren't they moving? It was clear they had reservations. Luo Zheng's expression turned grim as he whispered, "You take the left and I'll take the right, let's perform so remote reconnaissance and see if there are still ambushes behind them, don't disturb the grass and scare the snake, quickly co back here to regroup."
"I'll go," Mountain Eagle eagerly said.
After thinking for a mont, Luo Zheng said, "Xue Er, you stay here; Ghost Hand, Snow Leopard, keep an eye on the Japanese. I suspect there could be others lying in ambush nearby." Saying so, he put down his equipnt, grabbed his SVD sniper rifle, and quickly dashed off, soon disappearing into the shrubs.
Mountain Eagle also put down his preparations, went lightweight which made him much more agile, and in a blink, he too vanished from sight. Lan Xue, leading Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard, continued to stay behind. Just in case, Lan Xue asked Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard to scout the rear area to avoid any surprises, while she stayed alone continuing the observation.
After a ticulous search, there were no suspicious targets within five hundred ters of the riverbank, but Lan Xue did not let her guard down. It's hard to recognize a master's disguise; she searched carefully between the ambushers and the riverbank Japanese, feeling several suspicious spots, but unable to confirm, left a watchful eye and continued to stay on guard.
anwhile, Luo Zheng circled around to the back of the ambushers to observe for a while. Seeing nearly a hundred ambushers and five portable mortars, he was taken aback. These guys were almost like a regular army, such a large group was more than enough to ambush a small team of five, a direct charge wouldn't be a problem, so why hadn't they attacked?
Carrying this huge question, Luo Zheng continued to observe the surroundings but found nothing. Looking at the area where the ambush was lying in wait, soone was making a phone call. The distance was too great to discern what was being said. After hanging up the phone, there was still no sign of an attack, rather it seed they were instructing the team to hide cautiously. This piqued Luo Zheng's curiosity even more. Were they really waiting for nightfall to take action?
After waiting for a while and garnering no results, Luo Zheng was about to continue his detour for reconnaissance when he saw two people cloaked in camouflage erge from the bushes and join up with the ambushers. Through his sniper scope, Luo Zheng noticed that these two were black, carrying SVD sniper rifles, which made him gasp in surprise as he thought to himself, "Two snipers?"
At that mont, the two snipers split up, each finding a spot to hide, and soon disappeared from sight. Luo Zheng instantly realized that indeed this was a huge trap, and what he had seen was just the tip of the iceberg. He slowly retreated back and after regrouping with everyone, found that Mountain Eagle had already returned.
"I found a group of about fifty ambushers hidden in the bushes over there, not more than a kiloter from the Japanese on the riverbank. They were well concealed. What about you?" asked Mountain Eagle, his face filled with shock.
Luo Zheng briefly explained his findings and then added, "It seems that Wolf King is planning to make a move against the Japanese, laying out a large net. What we've seen is probably just one part of it. No doubt about it, we'll just wait for the show to start, and if the opportunity arises, we'll be the fishern."
"That sounds good." Lan Xue looked at the sky, nodded in agreent as it was gradually getting darker, not suitable for traveling. Staying to watch the unfolding drama was not a bad idea, so they continued to hide and keep watch.
Suddenly, a group of about fifty burst out from the bushes on the opposite bank of the river and charged wildly toward the Japanese, bullets flying everywhere. With the river being over thirty ters wide, it was impossible for these people to swim across and attack, but their intense gunfire still gave the Japanese a huge scare, forcing them all to duck down and return fire from cover.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng was captivated by the scene. He then glanced at the other two ambush spots and let out a low gasp in astonishnt, "Guys, the show has started. A triangular formation, with one route attacking first while the other two wait for the right mont. With the river as a barrier, the Japanese can't pursue, overwheld by the enemy's firepower, they can only retreat while fighting. Regardless of which direction they retreat, they'll encounter ambushes. What a cunning trap."
"These Japanese aren't bad, their gun skills are quite decent," remarked Lan Xue coldly as she watched. Luo Zheng also observed carefully. In a short ti, several n from the riverbank were down, but the heavy gunfire kept the Japanese from raising their heads and continuously retreating with so getting injured.
"Dada-dada!" Suddenly, another fifty people on one side of the ambush jumped out from their cover, shouting loudly and charging fiercely at the Japanese, catching them completely off guard. One Japanese fell imdiately, while the remaining four reacted quickly, swiftly changing their route of retreat.
However, Luo Zheng saw that the opponents' retreat route was still flanked by another hillside, where nearly a hundred people were lying in ambush, making it impossible for them to break through. He couldn't help but smirk. Suddenly, several grenades were thrown from the silent bushes, landing in the middle of the fifty-man pursuing squad. A fierce round of gunfire burst forth, instantly knocking down a large number.
"Indeed, there was an ambush. Quick, quick, see who they are?" Luo Zheng exclaid in surprise, quickly lifting his sniper scope to take a serious look. Unfortunately, he couldn't distinguish the identities, only seeing that they were Caucasians.
"Caucasians tead up with the Japanese, this is getting interesting. It looks like the real show has only just begun. Let's watch and see," Lan Xue said in a low, cold voice.
