The storm barely settled before a new wave arose: having averted the attack by the Japanese intruders without incident, Luo Zheng didn't expect another issue to arise imdiately. Who could it be? Annoyed, Luo Zheng pondered, his face ashen as he looked towards Lan Xing and pressed, "Can you be more specific? There are many people working in the office building; it's impossible to investigate them all, but we must root out this mole, or else future troubles are endless. Is there any way?"
Lan Xing shook his head ruefully and explained, "The other party is very alert. As soon as they sense sothing is amiss, they imdiately cut off contact. They're not using a landline connection but a wireless spy tool that can bridge the local network signal out. Soone is receiving it at a long distance. Such a tool can be very small, easy to flush down the toilet, making it impossible to trace."
Luo Zheng sighed in resignation. Having a traitor was like a thorn in the throat, very uncomfortable. He thought for a mont and said, "Could it be another group making a probing attack?"
"It's very likely, but we can't rule out the Japanese pirates. Rember, they had invaded our systems once before, which ans they still have soone exceptionally skilled in computers. Despite the Ninja's failure, it's hard to ensure this person won't make a final attack. Of course, these are just my personal speculations, only for reference, as I don't understand warfare," Lan Xing analyzed.
Luo Zheng thought for a while and communicated the situation to Lan Xue. Lan Xue also felt that other people were more likely involved, but without evidence, they couldn't form a conclusive opinion. After ending the call, Luo Zheng couldn't understand—who else, deeming themselves better than the Japanese invaders, would dare such a thing?
Thinking about this, an idea flashed in Luo Zheng's mind that perhaps there were indeed those better than the Japanese invaders. Unlike the Japanese pirates who revered brute force and mainly employed stealth attacks, many other nations excelled in stealing, using, and extorting in ways that weren't about brute force but about intelligence, making them much trickier to guard against.
With these doubts, Luo Zheng earnestly reviewed the surveillance footage but spotted nothing unusual. After contemplating the defense strategy, and seeing no flaws, he decided to find a place to lie down and rest. The recent nights had been too exhausting, and he soon fell asleep.
When he woke up, it was already around eight in the evening. Zheng Duo had left so food in a thermal flask. Luo Zheng thanked him, then began wolfing down his al. Just then, Lan Xing walked over, holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and teasingly said, "This cup of coffee was sent by your admirer. I drank it; you don't mind, do you?"
"Who?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise.
"Wow, looks like you have quite a few, eh? Who else? Co on, be honest, how many admirers do you have?" Lan Xing's expression turned stern as he asked seriously.
Luo Zheng knew Lan Xing's jocular nature and didn't bother to engage, continuing his al. Lan Xing waited a while, seeing Luo Zheng appearing unconcerned, he started sipping the coffee with relishing clicks of his tongue, remarking, "Love brand coffee, tastes really good."
Having waited a bit and seeing that Luo Zheng only cared about his al, paying no heed, Lan Xing lost the interest to tease further and said seriously, "Song Yun ca by. Said Mrs. Huang is still not found. I don't like that woman, so I didn't ask much. You always instruct, but who is Mrs. Huang?"
"A person who stole the source code of the original security system, the Song family's maid," Luo Zheng said offhandedly, swallowing the last bite of his al and drinking so water before asking, "Has there been any abnormalities recently?"
"I see. No, there hasn't been," Lan Xing said in surprise. "That proud woman's source code was stolen? That doesn't make sense. Although she's arrogant and quite annoying, her capabilities are decent. It doesn't make sense for her to make such a basic mistake."
"First, it's hard to guard against a thief within the family; second, she isn't one of us, she doesn't understand fighting," Luo Zheng said. He set aside his water bottle, stretched lazily, and glanced at the security screen, startled, he quickly walked over. The screen showed many people suddenly at the gate, clearly up to no good. Luo Zheng asked, "Where's Zheng Duo?"
"Just went to use the bathroom," Lan Xing casually replied, his face instantly beca serious upon seeing the screen, and he asked with a hint of alarm, "What are these people trying to do? Storm the Military Research Institute?"
Luo Zheng, watching the screen where a large group of people were arguing with the sentries, furrowed his brows, sensing sothing was off. The Military Research Institute is a Military entity, virtually a military no-go zone; ordinary people wouldn't dare assault it. What is going on here? As he pondered, Zheng Duo was at the door. Luo Zheng pressed the door open button, and once Zheng Duo entered, he pointed at the screen and said, "Take a look at this."
"Oh, it's these bastards." Zheng Duo said in surprise.
"What's the situation?" Luo Zheng asked in return.
"They're all local hooligans. So of them are relatives of the Military Research Institute's staff, unemployed, ssing around outside. They've caused disturbances before, demanding jobs from the Institute. The Institute now only handles high-end technological projects, which ordinary people simply aren't fit for, so it's impossible to place them. Previously, the security departnt could manage so placents, but now the security is handled by personnel from the Ard Police. If I weren't an old-tir familiar with the situation, I'd have been replaced too," Zheng Duo hurriedly explained.
Luo Zheng did not fully understand but could guess roughly what was happening. Uninterested in delving deeper, he imdiately said, "Deploy a team, anyone who dares to step into the Military Research Institute, shoot to kill without exception."
"This?" Zheng Duo hesitated, his face full of reluctance; after all, many were relatives of the Institute's staff, people they had to face day in and day out. He couldn't bring himself to do it.
Luo Zheng's expression shifted slightly, his gaze turned icy as he stared at Zheng Duo. Under Luo Zheng's piercing cold stare, Zheng Duo steeled himself to plea, but swallowed his words, considering the extraordinary situation. What if sothing went wrong? Luo Zheng, already impatient, stord out of the room, shouting through his headset as he moved, "Mountain Eagle position at the main gate, Snow Leopard, follow to the gate, be alert."
"Roger that." Mountain Eagle and Snow Leopard responded.
The office building was not far from the main gate; Luo Zheng ran there in one breath and stopped about ten ters from the gate, drew his gun, and coldly commanded, "Anyone causing trouble, shoot to kill without exception."
"Who do you think you are?" a young man with an earring shouted discontentedly, coming up to the automatic doors at the entrance, holding a rubber club in his hand and looking at Luo Zheng.
"I'm warning you again, step one foot inside the gate, and I will shoot to kill without hesitation," Luo Zheng said coldly, aiming his pistol at the target. Continuous warnings were his last resort; Luo Zheng did not mind shooting the assailant, as hesitation could only make the situation more chaotic.
"Xiao Dong, what are you doing? Back off now, or he'll really shoot," Zheng Duo, who had followed, could see from a distance that Luo Zheng had disengaged his pistol's safety, his face pale as he quickly shouted.
"With you, kid, go ahead, shoot here," the young man yelled arrogantly, pointing to his own forehead and screeching, while many people behind him burst into laughter.
