The foreign agents lurking around were countless, all eyeing the research results, and now an assassin organization had erged. Luo Zheng's face turned cold as he spoke angrily, "Killed the Japanese pirates, then co the foreign devils, and now the Reincarnation Organization appears, a bunch of things that don't know whether they're dead or alive. If they co, let them co, I'll deal with them all at once."
"The Reincarnation Organization excels at assassination, and it's hard to guard against. But what concerns more is how the Reincarnation Organization knew we were here? Think about it, the number of people who know we're here is very limited, and the enemies that had infiltrated were all taken out by us. There shouldn't be any leaks," said Lan Xue with a worried look on her face.
"Hiss?" Upon hearing this, Luo Zheng's face changed dramatically, and as he looked at Lan Xue, his eyes gradually sharpened. He said coldly, "Are you saying...?"
Lan Xue knew Luo Zheng was thinking about the Song family and nodded with understanding. Without sufficient evidence, everything was guesswork, and no one had said it outright. Luo Zheng's face turned cold as he pondered. Considering the power, status, and identity of the Song family, it seed impossible for them to commit such treasonous acts. Was it greed that muddled their wisdom? Or had hatred clouded their minds to the extent that they were reckless?
"There's a fifty percent chance. Although we've announced the completion of the research results, Song Yun is still here and hasn't gone back to rest. The Song family could definitely guess the truth and might have deliberately leaked the information. Of course, all of this is speculation, not reliable. What are your thoughts next?" Lan Xue asked.
"It's also possible that our identities have been exposed, and other countries' agents sold the information to the Reincarnation Organization, right? The Song family wouldn't dare do such a treasonous act, would they? The risk is too great; they wouldn't be so foolish, would they?" Luo Zheng still found it hard to believe that the Song family would do such a thing and said in surprise.
"What you said makes sense. I've thought about this issue as well, but we can't be too careful," Lan Xue reminded him.
"As long as we don't leave the Military Research Institute, the defense here is stringent. Even if the Reincarnation Organization's people manage to kill, they won't be able to break through our defenses. The problem isn't big, as long as we hold out for three days, we'll have completed our task. What I'm most worried about is the mole we haven't identified yet; that's the real threat," Luo Zheng said with a serious face.
Lan Xue, of course, understood the situation. With a cool expression, she said, "I've been paying attention these past two days and haven't spotted any suspicious targets. Elder Lin doesn't have any suspects, either. In the upcoming days, I will pay even closer attention to this issue. Even if there is a mole, everyone is staying in the basent and isn't allowed to leave. They won't be able to get the goods out."
"We can only fortify our defense," said Luo Zheng, annoyed. Suddenly, a ringtone sounded, startling Luo Zheng. He noticed it was his phone and upon checking, saw a familiar number. He answered, "Sis, it's , did you need sothing?"
"Kid, stop playing around. I'm at your house. If you want your family to live, do as I say," a deep male voice said coldly, devoid of any emotion.
"Who are you?" Luo Zheng exclaid, jumping to his feet and shouting, his face turning steel blue.
"Who I am is not important. What matters is whether you will listen," the other party said coldly.
"Speak, what do you want?" Luo Zheng suppressed his rage and demanded coldly.
"Good. An hour from now, et at the abandoned cent factory on East Avenue. Co alone, bring the research results, or I can't guarantee the safety of your family," said the other party coldly, then hung up the phone with no room for negotiation, clearly a veteran.
"What's wrong?" Lan Xue asked softly, looking at Luo Zheng, whose face was steel blue. She felt a heaviness in her heart, knowing that sothing had happened.
"Soone has taken my family hostage at ho, demanding I take the research results to the East Cent Factory," Luo Zheng said coldly, his face icy, his eyes filled with towering rage. There are things that provoke a man's fury, and for Luo Zheng, his family was his Achilles' heel. At this mont, Luo Zheng wished he could shatter the culprit into pieces.
"Don't panic. The drive here to the East Cent Factory takes only half an hour, the remaining half-hour is for you to prepare the research results. I'll go find Elder Lin to prepare a fake set; you calm down and inform Captain Wu to see what he says. Don't worry, it'll be fine," Lan Xue said sensibly and hurried off.
Luo Zheng thought there was sense in what she said and began to calm down. He took out his phone and dialed. After briefly explaining the situation to Captain Wu, the captain hadn't expected such an incident to occur and was imdiately angered, saying, "Don't worry. Ghost Hand has discovered the Reincarnation Killers heading to Beijing and has also led a team there. I will imdiately notify him to infiltrate the cent factory quietly. As for your family, I will personally lead a team for the rescue, ensuring their safety."
"Thank you." Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. With Captain Wu personally taking charge, his family's safety was assured. He cald down from his anger and said, "Captain, I will take the falsified results to et them. Our defenses here remain unchanged, and there's no big problem. Please rest assured."
"Alright, be careful," Captain Wu said.
After hanging up, Luo Zheng looked at Lan Xing and reminded her, "Be careful. This could be another trick of the enemy. We can't lose our composure at the critical mont, and we must ensure that the system is not breached."
"Don't worry, take care of yourself," Lan Xing replied with determination.
Luo Zheng responded with a nod, grabbed his black long knife and pistol, and rushed out of the surveillance room, signaling to Zheng Duo, who was smoking outside, to go back. He then took the elevator down to the basent, where Lan Xing handed him a square box, advising, "Inside is a blank disk, but it's encrypted. It can't be opened without a password. You don't need to teach you how to use it, do you?"
"I know," Luo Zheng put the box in his pocket, took the car keys Lan Xing passed to him, and warned, "I'm off, but we can't be complacent here. I'm worried this is another enemy sche."
"I can't accompany you, please forgive ," said Lan Xing, her face sinking with apology. She straightened Luo Zheng's clothes, like a dutiful wife sending off her husband, and admonished deeply, "Be very careful."
"Rest assured," Luo Zheng replied and looked resolute, his gaze filled with murderous intent.
"Brother, take care," Ghost Hand said from the side, his face grim.
"You too," Luo Zheng replied, then hurriedly left, went to the surface, and drove the SUV out of the Military Research Institute towards the East Cent Factory, his face cold as ice, veins on his hands gripping the steering wheel standing out, his eyes fixed forward, seething with killing intent.
Arriving at the East Cent Factory ahead of the appointed ti by about ten minutes, Luo Zheng made a sharp stop and parked the car at the abandoned gate. He glanced at the cent factory. The iron gate was tightly closed. Five abandoned smokestacks towered above, along with so six-story buildings that appeared unoccupied, surrounded by overgrown grass.
