Luo Zheng's face suddenly changed, and he felt extrely fortunate for having chosen to hide rather than turning back to check when he heard the anomaly, as otherwise he would have been shot. He quickly raised his gun to aim and fire. The opponent had fired and was sprinting away, almost simultaneously with Luo Zheng's reaction, narrowly avoiding Luo Zheng's counterattack, and disappeared after a few flashes.
The surroundings were filled with dense apple trees, the number of enemies unknown and positions unclear. Blindly chasing after them would have been suicide. Luo Zheng cautiously lay flat on the ground, observing his surroundings. It was eerily silent, except for the rustling of the apple trees in the wind and a few brazen crickets chirping away peacefully and tranquilly, as if nothing had happened. Yet, Luo Zheng dared not move. His opponent belonged to the Reincarnation Killer Organization, skilled in assassination, possibly lurking in so corner waiting for him to make a mistake and deliver a fatal strike.
"Woo woo woo woo!" The sharp, piercing sound of police sirens approached, sounding nurous. Luo Zheng's brows furrowed slightly, sensing that sothing was off. How could the police have arrived so quickly? If Captain Wu had arranged this, Ghost Hand should have arrived beforehand. Why hadn't Ghost Hand appeared yet?
Things felt bizarre. Luo Zheng slowly walked back to the room he had co from, taking utmost care with every step. The sirens drew closer, and no suspicious activities were detected around him. Unaware, he reached the corner and leaned against the wall, his cold eyes searching around, missing not a single detail. The safer the mont seed, the less he could afford to be careless.
Following the corner to the front, Luo Zheng glanced at the body of Song Yang on the ground, already dead with a pool of blood around him and a bullet wound to his head. His old enemy had now turned into a cold corpse. However, Luo Zheng felt no joy, instead sensing that sothing was off.
Just then, a massive team of heavily ard police, consisting of special forces and the Ard Police, numbering not less than a hundred, sward in. Luo Zheng sighed in relief. With so many police arriving, he believed that mbers of the Reincarnation Killer Organization had already withdrawn. He then stepped out from the corner to et them.
"Freeze, police," soone shouted loudly.
Luo Zheng was startled, realizing that these people did not recognize him. To avoid misunderstanding, he did not move and was just about to explain when suddenly, the lead police officer shouted, "The murderer is ard, everybody be careful, fire!"
"What?" Luo Zheng was shocked, feeling danger rushing toward him like a tsunami, his body retreating explosively as he darted back to the corner to take cover, angrily raising his gun as he saw countless bullets sweeping towards him. He retreated swiftly, his face ashen, faintly slling a conspiracy, but with no ti to explain, he could only evade.
"Stop!" Soone suddenly shouted. Luo Zheng recognized the voice as familiar; upon thinking carefully, it was Ghost Hand. He imdiately felt relieved, sensing the gunfire gradually ceasing. He stayed hidden in the corner, patiently waiting without erging.
"Brother, co on out," Ghost Hand shouted.
Luo Zheng finally relaxed, walked out from the corner, and saw that the police had their guns pointed down, all backing off cautiously. Luo Zheng coldly looked at the lead police officer, his gaze full of chilling killing intent, and walked up, ignoring the anxious Ghost Hand coming to et him and suddenly kicked the lead police officer, sending him flying.
"What are you doing? Freeze!" The surrounding police shouted, aiming their guns at Luo Zheng again.
"What are you doing, looking to rebel?" Ghost Hand's face chilled as he shouted, coldly looking at the lead police officer. He had clearly seen the scene when the order to shoot was given and suspected this police officer, but since their systems were different, Ghost Hand refrained from comnting further. Seeing Luo Zheng striking, he did not stop him and coldly watched the other police who were about to act, his killing intent rampant. The few people who followed Ghost Hand also turned their guns, their gazes stern.
The scene was filled with tension, ready to ignite at any mont. Luo Zheng coldly walked over to the fallen lead police officer, who was around fifty years old, sowhat overweight with a ruddy face—clearly a long-term desk worker. Luo Zheng coldly stared at him, a trace of chill erging from his lips, and said, "Planning a murder?"
"I know who you are!" the leading police officer retorted, his tone firm and his face souring. He glanced at the tense situation around him and commanded, "Co, arrest all these murderers."
"No one move," another authoritative figure shouted, nodding toward Ghost Hand as if they recognized each other. Approaching Luo Zheng, he calmly asked, "What happened here? Who are you?"
"He's one of ours," Ghost Hand snorted from the side.
Upon hearing that he was one of Ghost Hand's, the man's expression shifted slightly. He looked at the police officer lying on the ground and said, "Deputy Chief, the situation is a bit complicated. Shouldn't we figure things out first?"
The officer known as the Deputy Chief, dissatisfied, exclaid, "I don't care who he is. I see a man dead, and this one standing beside him, not the murderer but definitely a suspect. I have the right to take him back for an investigation, no matter who he is."
"What about this?" the officer asked Ghost Hand awkwardly.
Ghost Hand snorted disdainfully, motioned Luo Zheng aside, and whispered, "What exactly happened?"
Luo Zheng briefly explained the situation and added quietly, "I suspect this guy is up to no good."
Upon hearing this, Ghost Hand furiously said, "Daring to ss with National Blade is seeking death." He then strode over to the Deputy Chief, seized him with ease despite his nearly 200 kg weight, and slapped him across the face, his expression cold and murderous. He shouted, "Scum, await your military tribunal."
"What are you doing, stop!" the surrounding police officers exclaid as tension escalated once again. Luo Zheng's swagger was one thing, but no one expected Ghost Hand to be even more audacious, unfazed by the potential for misfires. The police watched Ghost Hand warily, their fingers on the triggers, ready to shoot had they not recognized Ghost Hand as one of their own.
"Captain Yang, this scum is suspected of shooting our man. I'm taking him away. Do you have any objections?" Ghost Hand asked the officer coldly, his expression as icy as iron, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
"No objections," responded the one known as Captain Yang. Aware of Ghost Hand's role as a Zhongnanhai bodyguard, he dared not provoke him. His face contorted with bitterness, he motioned for his n to lower their guns.
"Captain Yang, what do you an by that?" the Deputy Chief asked, his face flushing as he demanded an explanation.
"This matter is beyond my authority; I can't help you," Captain Yang said helplessly. The Deputy Chief had ordered to shoot upon arrival, which made Captain Yang realize the complexity of the situation and decided not to get involved. He strictly ordered everyone to lower their guns, and the surrounding police, sensing the tension, hesitantly began to lower their weapons.
Luo Zheng felt that the Song family might be involved, but without evidence, he could only revisit the matter later. Seeing the police lower their weapons, he prepared to leave with Ghost Hand and the others. Suddenly, his phone vibrated. He pulled it out to see it was Captain Wu calling and quickly answered, asking, "Captain, how is my family?"
