In the murky night rain, a waterfall cascaded down the undulating mountain range, playing a symphony of majestic and bold sounds. The fine rain drizzled continuously without a hint of stopping. Under the deafening waterfall was a river that andered and twisted, its destination unknown. On both sides of the river were mountains, dark with dense forests.
About a kiloter downstream of the waterfall, where the river curved, the water flowed more calmly near the giant stone beach. A man was stuck almost waist-deep between the rocks, motionless. His upper body swayed with the river water. After a while, he slowly began to move. Struggling, he grasped a protruding part of a nearby rock, slowly twisted his body, and climbed onto the rock with great difficulty.
After a long while, the man climbed onto the rock and lay motionless, vomiting violently, expelling a large amount of water. He slowly raised his head to look around. On his pale face was a pair of cold eyes exuding chills, firm and sharp. It was Luo Zheng who had miraculously survived a dire situation.
Luo Zheng had recovered so mories. Looking around at the dark mountains and the rushing river, and feeling the giant rocks beneath him, he had not expected to survive such odds. He flipped over, lying on his back on the rock, letting the fine rain fall on his face, motionless. He began regulating his breath using his family's "Breathing Skill," restoring his physical strength.
After about ten minutes, Luo Zheng felt his strength sowhat restored, and he felt much better. Upon carefully assessing his condition, he found his body mostly unhard except for so superficial cuts from branches that had stopped bleeding. Luo Zheng struggled to his feet only to discover his pistol was missing. Fortunately, the black long sword was still with him. Sowhat reassured, he suddenly rembered those in black attire, and instinctively dropped down, cautiously observing all around. The dark forest, the murky river surface, nothing else was in sight. He relaxed, let out a long sigh of relief, lay on the giant rock with his body spread out, and relaxed.
After resting for a while, as his strength gradually returned, a sudden unease surfaced in his mind. Shocked, Luo Zheng beca alert and scanned his surroundings. Soon, he seed to see sothing swimming on the murky river surface, making him very suspicious. He quickly crawled behind a rock and peered out.
Before long, Luo Zheng saw that those swimming were people, not just one but several—first one, then two in the middle, and three at the back, exactly five. Luo Zheng imdiately thought of the n in black. He had taken out one; weren't there just five left? At this thought, Luo Zheng's face turned grim. It was a missed opportunity without his gun.
These people were clearly pursuing him along the river, determined not to stop until they achieved their goal. The calm water and the giant stone beach were definitely the key areas these pursuers would check. Luo Zheng glared fiercely, coldly watching the enemies approach, wishing he could charge at them and fight a fierce battle. Yet, reason told Luo Zheng not to act. Frustrated, he turned his head, and with resentnt, stealthily moved toward the forest, quickly disappearing with the rocks as his cover.
The forest was pitch black, visibility was extrely low, making it difficult for any pursuers in black to find his hiding spot. Luo Zheng reached the base of a large tree and pondered for a mont, then placed his black long sword on his back and quickly climbed up to the branches, concealing himself, readying the sword seriously.
As ti ticked by, the n in black had not caught up, but Luo Zheng dared not lower his guard. Considering the abilities of these n in black, he believed they would find traces of his presence at the giant stone beach and easily follow them into the forest. After waiting a while without any sign of them, a wave of drowsiness swept over him, startling him into alertness.
It was absolutely unsafe to sleep alone in the dense forest at night. There were dangers below the trees and above them as well. Luo Zheng employed his family's "Breathing Skill" to regulate his breath, entering a trance-like state where his senses beca even sharper, enabling him to sense danger in advance while allowing his body to relax and recover energy and strength.
By the latter half of the night, the man in black had not appeared. The pitch-dark forest was dangerous but equally concealing. Luo Zheng thought to himself that these people didn't dare to recklessly enter the woods and were waiting for daylight. He breathed a sigh of relief in secret and continued to use the family's Breathing Skill to restore his physical condition, conserving energy in anticipation of the daylight.
The Military Research Institute had been attacked several tis, the Reincarnation Killers had abducted people and the unnad n in black were continuously hunting him. Each event added to the fire of anger within Luo Zheng, burning uncomfortably within him, making him long for a satisfying battle. He secretly prepared himself to confront these n in black as soon as daylight broke.
Waiting was agonizing but exhilarating. Unable to sleep and having to remain alert, ti slowly passed in waiting. Just when Luo Zheng felt he was about to collapse, he saw a glimr of light appear on the horizon and instantly smiled. He moved his body on the tree branch, and after his numb muscles returned to normal, he smoothly slid down the large tree and ran towards the summit. A battle could erupt at any mont, so he had to find a suitable battleground first.
While running, Luo Zheng spotted several mulberry trees and imdiately brightened up. He rushed over and examined them closely. The trees appeared old, with broad and luxuriant leaves. Luo Zheng's gaze fell on so of the trunks. Swinging his black long knife, he easily chopped down a few trunks, removed the branches, then picked up the trunks and continued his mad dash.
In the midst of his run, Luo Zheng noticed so trees whose nas he didn't know, but he knew their barks had fibrous interiors that could be peeled out to make ropes. These ropes could be used as bowstrings due to their elasticity.
About ten minutes later, Luo Zheng sat down by a large tree on a mountain ridge. The dense bushes around provided great concealnt; the terrain was elevated with a broad view. As a forr Hunter, making bows and arrows was a basic skill for him and mulberry wood was excellent material for this purpose. Luo Zheng quickly started working with the mulberry branches.
With a black long knife in hand, making bows and arrows was not difficult. Luo Zheng only needed ordinary bows and arrows with sufficient short-range killing power; he wasn't demanding. He used mulberry wood for the bow's back. For the bowstring, he peeled the unknown tree bark to reveal the fibers inside, stripped them out, and twisted them into a rope.
Soon after, a rudintary mulberry wood bow was made. Luo Zheng tested it and felt good about the tension. He picked up a mulberry branch, shaped it into an arrow with a sharp tip and a flat tail, drew the bow, and aid. Releasing his hold, the arrow shot out and flew about twenty ters, making him quite delighted.
There was no ti to waste. Luo Zheng quickly shaped the rest of the mulberry branches into arrows. Suddenly, he felt people were coming up from below the mountain. Startled, he stopped his work and peered out, noticing shadows flitting through the trees below. Guessing it was the n in black, his expression chilled. He thrust his black long knife into his back, inserted the roughly made arrows into his front waist belt, picked up the mulberry wood bow, and charged forward.
Luo Zheng sprinted to a spot on the ridge, with slopes on both sides and the path ahead as the only way forward. Looking around at the dense, imperable forests on both sides, a ray of sunlight pierced through the leaves and fell on Luo Zheng's resolute face—determined and confident. His sharp gaze looking back was filled with a murderous aura.
