"Since they have co, even if it's a tiger, I will wrench a tooth from its mouth. Ghost Hand, please go and tell Hook to dispatch scouts for a thousand ters, report back imdiately if they spot the enemy, no reckless actions, be quick," Luo Zheng said coldly, his sharp gaze locking onto the valley with murderous intent. After all the effort to get here, would it not be a waste to just turn back without doing anything?
Seeing that Luo Zheng had made up his mind, no one said anything further. They all concealed themselves, aiming their guns forward. Ghost Hand acknowledged and turned back to arrange the traps, which would take so ti. Luo Zheng waited patiently as the seconds ticked by. No bad news ca, which led him to consider that the Japanese occupying the valley base might be aware of the danger but unsure of everyone's hiding spots. With such a large area of dense forest around, it would not be easy for the enemy to carry out a search.
However, after about half an hour, Hook ca running with an anxious expression, reporting that the brothers who were sent out had encountered a search party numbering over a hundred, about a kiloter away. Luo Zheng was startled, his guess had been right on target. His face darkened as he asked, "How are the preparations for the traps?"
"Only a portion is ready, there wasn't enough ti," Hook replied with concern.
"There's no ti left, notify everyone to imdiately conceal themselves and stand by, no rash moves," Luo Zheng urged quickly. After Hook left, Luo Zheng continued to watch the front intensely. An extra squad had been added to the machine gun position, including a heavy machine gun, and the periter guards had increased by a third, expanding the alert area.
Suddenly, Luo Zheng's gaze fell on the buildings. His eyes lit up as he said in a low voice, "Xue Er, Mountain Eagle, Incendiary Bomb, target the buildings. I want to leave them nowhere to hide."
"Good idea," Lan Xue responded brightly, admiring the plan. Destroying buildings might not directly kill the enemy, but it could create chaos. The dense smoke and large fire it caused would be enough to drive people out from underground. Even if they had isolation asures, without the buildings above ground for cover, the enemy's concealnt would be weaken, making them easier to attack later on.
"We don't have much ti, get ready," Luo Zheng said coldly, quickly aiming at the target, approximately fifteen hundred ters away. The building was a large target, easy to hit. With his gaze firmly set on a house at the southeast corner, Luo Zheng's eyelids slowly drooped shut. His eyes narrowed to pinpoints, masking his raging fury, as he swiftly pulled the trigger.
"Whoosh!" The Incendiary Bomb shot out of the barrel, whistling through the air and drawing a beautiful arc into the Void, instantly entering a house and igniting it. The fire burst forth furiously.
Through the sniper scope, Luo Zheng saw Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle firing as well, setting buildings ablaze. The enemy within the base began to panic; so tried to put out the fire, but how could they extinguish the high temperature burning from the Flammable Agent?
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" The three of them continued to fire in perfect coordination, each igniting another building. Luo Zheng watched the chaotic base with a chilling gaze, unmoved, his face as still as water, as he continued to shoot. Empty shell casings clinked out, sounding like beautiful notes.
By the fifth shot, as Luo Zheng watched flas ascend skyward from the base, a cold smile spread across his face. Fifteen shots for three people, fifteen buildings caught fiercely on fire; he could see they would soon rge into one large blaze that would be difficult to extinguish. Thinking that the enemy search party should be arriving soon, he quickly holstered his pistol and commanded, "Quick, we need to withdraw."
Everyone turned and ran cleanly and swiftly, with Luo Zheng hearing gunfire erupt from a nearby forest. Knowing that the Japanese search party was hot on their heels, he saw Hook running over with an anxious look and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Those bastards are close now. We are concealed in the woods, but what's the next move?" Hook asked urgently.
"Inform everyone to use the traps for cover, to fight while retreating," Luo Zheng heard the dense gunfire, realizing that their forces were far greater than a hundred. His expression hardened, and he quickly made a decision. Seeing that Hook acknowledged and passed the orders along, he followed suit, speaking through his headset, "Follow the route Hook took, be careful not to trigger any traps."
"Understood." Ghost Hand and the others responded, and the column moved forward.
They entered the brushwood, and soon ca upon the indigenes concealed within the bushes, each with bow drawn and arrow nocked, ready for battle, unshaken, their determined gazes filled with a chilling murderous intent, like hungry wolves in the forest waiting for prey to co to them, silence all around.
"There are many traps here, follow ," Hook whispered a warning.
"Da da da!" The enemy caught up, conducting a sweeping fire reconnaissance of the tranquil brushwood, and Luo Zheng, worried that the natives would panic and scatter, looked up anxiously only to see shadows flickering, guns firing wildly—it was the pursuers. No one in the brushwood was running about, everyone was deeply concealed.
The pursuers spread out, their approach fierce. Luo Zheng had a sudden idea, quickly aid at soone who looked like an officer, estimated the distance at no more than a hundred ters or so, with no wind around, this distance and shooting environnt didn't require accounting for lead ti, he quickly pulled the trigger.
"Ahh!" The officer was hit by an Incendiary Bomb, and flas burst out from his body; he scread miserably as he ran about in chaos.
The gunshots exposed their position, and under the officer's orders, the other pursuers charged over, the bullets ferociously sweeping through causing havoc in the surrounding woods. The gunshots were also commands, and the natives quickly made their move, erging from their hiding spots to take aim and fire, then ran imdiately after shooting, swift as cheetahs.
Luo Zheng, seeing the cold arrows shooting from the dense brushwood and mingled shouts amidst the gunfire, laughed and said into his headset, "Fight while retreating, draw the pursuers in."
Everyone responded and opened fire. Luo Zheng swapped to a Type 95 assault rifle, peeked out from the brushwood, aid at two enemies ahead, and fired two bursts, headshotting both. He then turned and ran, using the dense brushwood for cover and disappeared after a few leaps.
"Ahh!" Screams kept arising. The natives, with their primitive civilization and lack of advanced weapons, but familiar with the forest and the art of jungle warfare, would hide and shoot cold arrows before quickly withdrawing to avoid exposing themselves. The pursuers were caught off guard, and by the ti they stabilized the situation, everyone had already retreated over a hundred ters.
"Charge!" An officer, pulling out his command saber, angrily pointed forward and roared. Countless pursuers, upon hearing the order, charged into the dense forest without hesitation, steely-faced and fearless. It had to be admitted that this unit had a high level of combat discipline.
"Ahh—" Countless screams rose in the dense forest as traps were triggered: flying arrows, Earth Spur, earth pits, hanging nooses, battering rams, Bullet Guns, and more, with the sharp parts all sared with Poison Liquid. Once hit, it was not as simple as just getting injured, and with the natives hiding in the brushwood, the pursuers began to suffer substantial injuries.
In the brushwood, Luo Zheng cautiously peered out, saw the pursuers continually vanishing into the bushes and smiled, took out his bow and arrow, and slowly crept forward, soon out of sight.
