"Pop, pop, pop!" Three bullets hit the assassin's body, spurting out three arcs of blood. The assassin, having dodged the majority of the bullets, had proven to be quite formidable. Luo Zheng fired a volley and quickly went into hiding. He didn't realize that the assassin had been killed. Bullets from two different directions sprayed over, striking the rocks and creating sparks, pinning Luo Zheng down so he dared not move.

Luo Zheng felt the enemy's gunfire was ferocious. He huddled behind a huge rock, and after changing a magazine, he circled to the other side and fired a volley without aiming. Hitting the target was one thing, but fire suppression was important. With the cover of the huge rock, Luo Zheng managed to suppress the enemy's fire, then he changed another magazine.

This ti, Luo Zheng didn't fire imdiately, but instead pricked up his ears to listen. The assassin had fired a few shots then stopped as well. Luo Zheng knew the assassin would definitely try to flank him. Just as he was about to run to one side, he caught sight of a small river out of the corner of his eye. The water wasn't deep, but the nearby shrubs were dense, and there was an earthen slope. An idea struck Luo Zheng, and he quickly rolled into the river from the other side, carefully took a few steps forward, and hid under the water by the earthen slope.

The cool river water made Luo Zheng feel exhilarated, and he couldn't help but groan. His whole body seed to sing with joy. He had been lying hidden on the hot rock, nearly passing out from the baking sun and excessive sweating. suddenly being imrsed in water, he naturally felt relief. But Luo Zheng's face, calm and filled with killing intent, revealed he had no distractions; he was fully focused on the enemy at hand.

Hiding near the huge rock was a very risky move, but Luo Zheng was gambling—betting on who would shoot first. Luo Zheng had two advantages: one was the unexpected boldness of his move, which was unlikely to be anticipated by the enemy, potentially allowing for a surprise attack, and two, the nearby earthen slope provided a natural trench for so concealnt.

The assassins were extrely cautious; they wouldn't rashly advance without clear knowledge of the situation. Luo Zheng had already experienced their caution; a distance of less than a hundred ters had taken them almost half an hour, almost baking him in the sun. With resentnt building inside, his M4 rifle in hand and lifted above the water's surface, he kept his entire body subrged, squatting with only his head exposed, calmly waiting for the opportune mont to strike.

While waiting, Luo Zheng didn't move when a water snake swiftly swam by him. He glared coldly at the snake, which seed to sense danger and instantly dived under the water, disappearing from sight. When it resurfaced, it was five or six ters away.

After a while, Luo Zheng detected the faint rustling of footsteps, barely audible amid the sound of the wind through the grass. He wasn't sure if soone was approaching, so he perked up his ears and waited without making a rash move, holding his breath. Suddenly, Luo Zheng saw the reflection of a head appear on the water surface.

Luo Zheng was startled, then imdiately filled with joy, for by dint of the angle, the sun had cast the assassin's shadow on the water. Although it was only the reflection of a head, it was enough. Luo Zheng hadn't expected the guy to be so skilled as to approach the huge rock silently and evade his detection. Such an expert must be eliminated, or he'd beco a serious threat in the future.

With a splash, Luo Zheng leaped out of the water, his body shooting up to the height of the earthen slope. He saw a target with his back turned to him. It was a rare opportunity, and the gun in Luo Zheng's hands sounded instantly. Bullets poured out like rain, covering the short distance of two or three ters without any obstacle. Carrying Luo Zheng's elation and murderous intent, the bullets penetrated the assassin's back, turning him into a sieve.

"Tat, tat, tat!" Another assassin opened fire.

Luo Zheng's soaring body conveniently landed at this mont, narrowly avoiding the assassin's sweeping fire. He dove onto the earthen slope and started firing towards the enemy's position, suppressing their gunfire. Hearing the sound of bullets striking empty air, Luo Zheng quickly ducked down to change his ammunition.

In the midst of the chaos, Luo Zheng suddenly spotted a shadow darting toward him, its outline stark against the river water—an assassin. It was too late to reload, too late to switch to another weapon. Furious, Luo Zheng considered, so what if it's close-quarters combat? He tossed his M4 into the air, and with a tiger-like pounce, he lunged sideways to create distance between himself and his adversary.

With a clang, the M4 rifle he had thrown was knocked out of the air by sothing, and down with it ca an assassin. The assassin landed steadily on the riverbed, military dagger in hand, blade reversed, coldly locking eyes with Luo Zheng. Devoid of weaponry, the assassin must have run out of bullets.

Luo Zheng glared back, recognizing sothing familiar in his opponent's face. A figure surfaced in his mind, prompting a cold chuckle, "So it's you. During that battle in Beijing, you killed Song Yang, igniting the feud between and the Song family with your clever tactics. I admire that. This ti, I'd like to see where you can run to?"

"How about putting down your gun and facing in a duel? If you defeat , I can tell you so information you seek. What do you say, dare you?" the adversary proposed coldly, eyes briefly flicking to the pistol on Luo Zheng's body.

"Trying to provoke ?" Luo Zheng scoffed, "Such tactics are useless against us soldiers. However, I am quite willing to indulge you. Just don't disappoint ." With that, he drew two Japanese swords from his back. The swords glead ominously as Luo Zheng unsheathed them, exuding a terrifying aura of death.

Luo Zheng had learned so sword skills before, and although they were military saber techniques and not traditional swordsmanship, he knew a thing or two about saber combat. If finesse wouldn't do, he could just wield the Japanese swords like military sabers—after all, there were broad and forceful moves within saber combat techniques that could still be applied.

One sword in each hand, Luo Zheng held the left with a standard grip and the right in a reverse grip. He stood with arms encircling his chest, eyes sharp and piercing as he scanned his opponent for weaknesses, while asking, "What's your na?"

The opponent didn't reply, instead suddenly charging forward. Luo Zheng remained unflustered, continuing to assess the assailant's running speed and eye movents. Noticing the aim was directed at his neck, Luo Zheng realized this guy was going for broke, willing to be killed in battle just to take him down.

"Attack!" Luo Zheng roared as he took two fierce steps forward. He crouched and lunged, swinging his right-hand blade at the assassin's chest and the left one at the legs—both blades slicing through the air. Almost in synchrony, the assassin leaped high, avoiding Luo Zheng's potentially fatal lower blow, and fiercely clashed his military dagger against the blade coming at his upper body.

The assassin soared over Luo Zheng's head, plunged into the water, and rolled to his feet. Not being adept with sword technique after all, Luo Zheng missed his chance to pursue and finish the fight. Frustrated by the failed exchange, and seeing the opponent dodge his attack, he threw one of his long swords like a bolt of lightning towards the fleeing assassin.
