After hearing Luo Zheng's idea, everyone's face was filled with shock. They all knew Luo Zheng was daring, but they hadn't expected such an audacious plan—to disguise as the enemy and infiltrate Kuntai Headquarters. Once Luo Zheng laid out the specific arrangents, everyone started to laugh, and their previous worries vanished.
What is an army's biggest fear? Two words: camp blast. This holds true both in ancient and modern tis, especially at night. It's the most vulnerable ti for an attack, with the darkness making it impossible to see clearly, and nobody knowing what's happening. Once soone starts firing indiscriminately, others will shoot to protect themselves. Panic ensues, and the camp can descend into fratricidal chaos.
To cause such chaos, several conditions must be t. The primary condition is the absence of lights. If everyone can see each other clearly, confusion cannot be fostered. Hence, understanding the enemy's power system is crucial. Second, we need to create confusion, which is simple. We take off our camouflage suits and backpacks, disguise as the enemy, and charge in, shooting and setting buildings on fire. In the dead of night, we can manage this just fine.
After the attack when control is lost, identifying friend from foe and retreating is an issue. It requires advance planning. Fortunately, these are not big issues. We can tie white cloths around our necks, and if we don't have any, we'll just find so after infiltrating the enemy's camp. For retreating, we'll agree on a ti and place to regroup. Everyone has their own skills, so there's no need for Luo Zheng to worry.
With all this resolved, the final question is, how do we find Kuntai? After a discussion, everyone looked at Pangolin. No one present knew Kuntai better than Pangolin did. Having heard everyone's risky plan, Pangolin was startled. It was too daring, too audacious. Completely different from the cautious approach typical of intelligence personnel. However, seeing that everyone else had no objections, Pangolin did not oppose. After thinking it through, he said, "Kuntai is most likely to stay in his room. His guard's combat strength is formidable. It's not going to be easy to break through."
"The fifth checkpoint on the east side?" Luo Zheng confird, and after seeing Pangolin nod, continued, "Shi Qingshan, pick a team to attack Kuntai's residence with . I've been there before and know the location. Rember, after we get in, seize the machine guns at the checkpoint first. Understood?"
"Yes," everyone responded in unison.
"Now, let's assign the specific tasks," Luo Zheng said as he picked up a few rocks and placed them on the ground. He continued, "Assuming this is Kuntai Headquarters' base, Binzi, Xunzi, you attack from the front and the back to create chaos. Yuanzi, Zhu Zi, you attack from the east side, in two teams. How you do it is up to you. I only have one requirent: make it loud, fast, and furious. Create chaos and then withdraw. Any questions?"
"No questions," the two nad responded together.
"Xunzi, you take people to take out the power system. By the way, where is it?" Luo Zheng looked at Pangolin, his body radiating an intense will to fight, as if he were a powder keg about to explode, his face cold and his gaze sharp.
Pangolin hadn't expected Luo Zheng's killing intent to be so heavy, but upon recalling Luo Zheng's identity, he understood. How could one join National Blade without significant capabilities? He promptly said, "It's right beside Kuntai's new residence. There are two power systems—one for public use and one exclusively for Kuntai."
"Oh?" Luo Zheng fell into thought. The others knew to let him think and patiently waited. After a while, Luo Zheng continued, "Gangzi, cancel your previous assignnt. The power system is mine now."
"What about my task?" Zhou Gang hurriedly asked.
"Hold on," Luo Zheng thought for a mont, then addressed Shi Qingshan, "The southern and western sides are your responsibility. You plan how to attack in two teams. Assemble another team and combine it with Gangzi's squad to fiercely attack Kuntai's residence. You're in command, and I'll join you with support when the ti cos."
"Yes," Shi Qingshan quickly agreed.
With this, everyone had their assignnts. Pangolin anxiously looked at Luo Zheng and earnestly said, "I want to personally slaughter that bastard Kuntai. Give an order."
"You're not fit for this. Stay behind to guard our supplies," Luo Zheng refused outright. Seeing Pangolin's pained expression, he softened and said softly, "Your combat ability is limited. Going would only cause us trouble. I promise to capture Kuntai for you. If that's not possible, I'll at least bring you his head, okay?"
"Alright, I'm counting on you," Pangolin conceded, knowing his own capabilities. He was proficient in intelligence gathering but not in combat. Following them would indeed be a burden. The team was already risking their lives for his cause; it wouldn't be right to be inconsiderate. He stood up, saluted everyone gratefully, and perhaps recalling so painful mory, tears briefly glinted in his eyes.
Everyone replied with an understanding salute, and Luo Zheng continued, "Each unit should find a way to infiltrate. We'll attack when the lights go out. The first objective is to seize the checkpoint's machine guns, then set fires and kill the enemy. The team attacking Kuntai's residence should prioritize securing vehicles parked near the main road. Drive them straight in. Any other questions?"
"None," everybody answered simultaneously. Specific problems would need improvising on the spot. Discussing them now was futile, so they each began inspecting their weapons.
Luo Zheng thought for a mont, then asked Pangolin, "Please teach us a few phrases in the local language, such as 'there's an assassin', 'capture the assassin', and 'the assassin is over there', to better blend in."
Upon hearing this, everyone's faces lit up with understanding, all turning to Pangolin. Pangolin, eager to help in any way he could, promptly agreed and taught them seriously. These simple phrases could save lives on the battlefield and help them perform their mission. Everyone recognized the importance and diligently learned them.
Luo Zheng also seriously morized the phrases for a while and, confident that he had mastered them, began to inspect his weapons. For this stealth operation, they wouldn't need their military packs or wear their camouflage or combat suits to move more easily. He decided to bring a Japanese sword, which could prove useful in a pinch, and the Tiger Teeth combat knife was indispensable. As for firearms, the AK-47 rifle would be ideal to confuse the enemy. Considering this, Luo Zheng suggested everyone switch to the AK-47 rifle; carrying the Type 88 sniper rifle and the Type 95 assault rifle would make them instantly identifiable by the enemy, causing more trouble instead.
Luckily, they had seized a lot of supplies. Everyone equipped themselves with an AK-47 and ample ammunition. They accepted Luo Zheng's suggestion without objection, each unloading their own weapons and gear. Shi Qingshan frowned slightly and quietly asked, "Where should we hide all these weapons and gear?"
"Carry them with you for now and find a place to hide them before the attack. Retrieve them when retreating; we'll have weapons in case of enemy pursuit," Luo Zheng suggested. Checking his watch and seeing it was around 1 a.m., he pondered briefly before adding, "Rest for an hour. We move in one hour."
