All the robbers made as if to open fire, sending the hostages scrambling back in panic and screaming. However, they were quickly intimidated into silence by a burst of gunfire from the gang leader. Bullets punctured the ceiling, creating holes that resembled the eyes of the Death God, making everyone's skin crawl. Who would dare to move in such a situation?
Luo Zheng knew that his pistol was empty. He prepared to hand it back and take the opportunity to take control of the gang leader and expose the conspiracy. Without exposing the plot, he couldn't see a way out for himself. However, the gang leader, sensing Luo Zheng's extraordinary abilities, wouldn't allow him to get close. Instead, he ordered a henchman to stop Luo Zheng and motioned for him to hand over the pistol to this subordinate. Luo Zheng calculated the distance and angle, deeming the chance of success as slim, and chose to bide his ti. But feeling frustrated at being subdued, he coldly said, "Aren't you just trying to scare everyone? Just toss the corpse into the sea to feed the sharks. I'm sure that'll frighten them."
"Huh?" Everyone looked at Luo Zheng, surprised, their gaze toward him shifting.
Lan Xue, however, grasped the aning behind Luo Zheng's words and smiled inwardly. She took the opportunity to step forward, closing the distance between herself and Song Yan. Although Song Yan was tightly guarded by a group of bodyguards, Lan Xue was confident she had several ways to take control of him.
Yet, hearing Luo Zheng's words, Song Yan beca even more suspicious. Although the robbers wouldn't really throw a wealthy playboy into the sea, Luo Zheng's continued provocation risked blowing his cover. Noticing the robbers glancing over nonchalantly, Song Yan made a throat-slitting gesture. The robbers understood and smirked coldly at Luo Zheng, their sinister gaze boiling with murderous intent as one shouted, "Kid, that's not a bad idea. Let's throw you down instead."
"Bang!" Suddenly, the casino was plunged into darkness as sparks flew from the fuse box and many wires caught fire, apparently short-circuited by soone.
"Ah?" The unexpected blackout sent everyone into a panic. They started to run in all directions, screaming incessantly. The gang leader, however, remained eerily calm and roared in anger, "Nobody move, da da da!" He began to wildly spray bullets at the ceiling, and the other robbers imdiately followed suit. With such terrifying firepower, who would dare take the risk?
Luo Zheng also had no idea who had created the short circuit at such a crucial mont. The gunfire revealed the robbers' positions, and he no longer waited. Using the chaos and the sound of gunfire as cover, he decisively fired at the shooters. They were quite close, and in the darkness, the gunfire was not obvious, so he wasn't worried about hitting the wrong target or being exposed.
After stealthily taking out a few of the shooters, the robbers noticed sothing was amiss. As the situation ca under control and no more shots were fired, Luo Zheng distinctly heard soone speaking Japanese nearby. He had taken a short course in the language just a few months prior and could basically understand it. He grew suspicious and listened carefully, hearing soone quietly order, "Baka, imdiately retreat and defend the entrance, and do it quickly."
Hearing this, Luo Zheng imdiately guessed that these people were all wearing earpieces under their head coverings, which he hadn't noticed before. Once these n retreated to the entrance, just a few people with a few guns could effectively block the exit, making escape impossible. There were already robbers at the door, and now soone was shining a powerful flashlight, making any attempt to rush out suicidal. "What to do?"
Luo Zheng quickly began to think. Suddenly, he rembered seeing another door at the back of the building during prior reconnaissance and wondered if it was blocked by the robbers. Hopeful but uncertain, he headed in its direction, squeezing through the crowd. It was difficult to get through, but once he did, he found a familiar shadow observing sothing at the back door – it was Lan Xue. A strong flashlight was moving outside, and the door was clearly blocked.
Luo Zheng approached, utilizing the dim light, and whispered, "It's . Are you okay?"
"It's fine, both front and back doors are blocked, but what do we do next? The sound of your gunshots was a bit strange earlier, was there sothing wrong with the bullets? Did the rich playboy die?" Lan Xue asked anxiously in a low voice as she saw Luo Zheng approaching.
"He's nearly dead, we can't stay here, we must fight our way out in this chaos. Once the power is restored, it'll be harder to escape. Did you see those three?" Luo Zheng quickly responded.
"Those three also took advantage of the situation to kill a few hijackers and steal their weapons. Don't worry, the situation is critical, let's fight." Lan Xue's fighting spirit ignited, and with a gun in hand, she dashed forward vigilantly, with Luo Zheng following closely. They leaned against either side of the corridor, coming to the door. Lan Xue gestured for Luo Zheng to open the door while she would cover with gunfire. Luo Zheng nodded, understanding the plan, grasped the doorknob, and nodded at Lan Xue, who readied her gun.
The door opened inwards and wasn't locked. Luo Zheng flung it open suddenly, only to see a dozen strong flashlight beams sweeping around. Lan Xue, agile as a monkey, rolled forward, bursting out. She fired, hit the ground, fired again, rolled, and shot from cover, executing all her movents in one fluid sequence, as smooth as flowing water.
The flashlights at the door were knocked over, and the remaining assailants fought back, firing a barrage towards Lan Xue's cover. Luo Zheng, seeing Lan Xue's swift movent technique and even faster gun skills, was encouraged by her quick takedown of several enemies and charged forward, opening fire on the hijackers. They all had strong flashlights, making their targets very clear with the short distance allowing for nearly every shot to hit.
Caught in the crossfire from front and back, over a dozen hijackers were easily taken down. Luo Zheng picked up a flashlight and hurriedly asked, "Xue Er, are you okay?" That was like passing through Death's gaze.
"I'm fine, just so scrapes," Lan Xue said nonchalantly, also picking up a flashlight and asking, "What's your plan now?"
"Let see your wounds," Luo Zheng said, ignoring Lan Xue's question and instead expressing concern for her injuries. Lan Xue had no choice but to shine the flashlight on her arm. The wound wasn't severe; just so superficial scrapes, which weren't much for a soldier.
"You're more professional in this situation than I am; what should we do?" Luo Zheng, reassured, asked.
"Let's split up and move separately; it can divide the hijackers' attention, and if sothing happens, we won't all be taken out at once, leaving us room to maneuver. What do you think?" Lan Xue suggested, picking up weapons from the ground and loading all the magazines onto herself, prepared to take on a big fight.
"The hijackers are Japanese, and there are quite a few of them. If I'm not mistaken, this whole drama was directed by Song Yan. He arranged for the rich playboy to fake his death, fra , and simultaneously rob the money. Moreover, the hijackers have received professional training. We were ambushed earlier, and it's likely there'll be a big battle next. It's not suitable to split up." Luo Zheng raised an objection, his eyes cold and murderous as he also quickly picked up ammunition and weapons from the ground.
