"Roar! Roar! Roar!" The prisoners were roaring in a frenzy, uniform as if rehearsed, their bellows reverberating around, stirring a fiery passion within, none of those imprisoned here were the timid type, and they forced the three police officers to move up the staircase, so even viciously banging against the iron-cast walls, shoving the officers. The prisoners had been suppressed for too long, and now it all burst out. If they weren't truly vile criminals, they would have killed the officers already—the situation had spiraled out of control.
Luo Zheng was relieved to see that the crowd still exercised so restraint—at least they hadn't disbanded and could be directed and commanded efficiently. He stealthily exhaled when he saw the three officers trembling as they marched upward and glanced at Jeff, who understood and ordered two n to follow behind them. Hiding behind the officers, they bore guns and vigilantly moved forward.
The staircase corridor wasn't wide. Leading the way, the officers were worried about being shot by either their own side or the prisoners, so they advanced slowly and with caution. Consequently, they blocked the two prisoners behind them. Upon reaching the top floor's doorway, they found the fire-proof iron gate tightly shut. Jeff rushed forward, attempting to open it, but discovered it was locked from the other side. He quickly relayed the situation to Luo Zheng, who was not keen on additional bloodshed; the most pressing matter was to escape. So he ordered Jeff to barricade the door firmly, and instructed the officers to continue upward.
Jeff was decisive and barred the door with a steel pipe, securing it. The group kept moving up. On the way, every fire-proof door at the stairwell was securely locked, preventing entry. Luo Zheng ordered Jeff to jam all the doors and lead the way upwards.
After climbing five flights of stairs, every iron door was shut tight, and they couldn't check the situation inside. The prisoners knew that if they forced the doors open, they would face a police counterattack. Cornered officers were dangerous. Instead of mutual destruction, they opted for a truce, thinking it better to leave the place first.
They reached the top floor unaware, where the heavy door was firmly locked. Jeff surveyed for a mont then signaled for everyone to step back. Aiming at the lock, he fired his gun, prompting tense anticipation among the prisoners. Freedom was imminent; they were about to see the sun again, and excitent filled their shouts.
"Dada dada!" The lock on the heavy door was shot off, and Jeff, exhilarated, pulled the door open and rushed out.
The others charged up excitedly. Luo Zheng didn't rush but lingered behind to protect Buddha, preventing a stampede. Having nearly a hundred people cramd into the corridor was no trivial matter. Fortunately, they all kept their composure and didn't fight wildly. Luo Zheng felt thrilled at the prospect of seeing the sun, but his brow furrowed when gunfire sounded from outside, followed by roars filled with endless regret and pain.
"Hiss?" Luo Zheng exclaid in alarm. The prisoners who hadn't rushed out also cald down, exchanging looks of confusion. Luo Zheng urgently called out, "Quick, let through."
Everyone sensed sothing was wrong and cleared a path. Protecting Buddha, Luo Zheng dashed up, bursting through the gate, only to find an expansive platform outside, surrounded by the boundless sea. Realizing they were on a vast ship, he was shocked and then enraged. Full of hope, this was the result they faced.
"Ah—!" Luo Zheng also roared out, filled with endless regret and anger. No paths led off the vast sea; there were no vehicles on the platform, no escape. Luo Zheng slumped down, overwheld by depression, disappointnt, helplessness, and pain. He sat on the ground, staring blankly at the sky above, as the scorching sun seed to mock them.
"Bro, don't lose heart. At least we got out, didn't we? Things are already like this, blaming heaven and others is useless. We should think about how to leave this place," Buddha crouched down, whispering softly as he gazed at the sun without losing hope. Perhaps after staying in prison for so long, his ntality was still stable.
"Who would have thought we were out at sea, who would have thought..." Luo Zheng said bitterly. Scenes from the prison played through his mind like a movie, and many previously perplexing doubts suddenly beca clear. He wryly said, "Bro, no wonder they wouldn't let us out to get so sun; there's simply nowhere to go out here."
"That's right, I thought we were in a cave, should have realized it's actually an ingeniously designed prison. With an abandoned aircraft carrier used as a cover outside, moored here, who would know? Who could tell? Even if soone did, it wouldn't matter; it's governnt property, so it won't attract trouble. No wonder the police just locked the iron gate at the stair entrance all the way here, they were never afraid of us escaping," the madman also lanted.
"There's no way to escape in the vast sea," Luo Zheng said helplessly. Seeing Jeff approaching with his people, his expression was very unsightly, he didn't bother to get up, he just gestured for Jeff to sit down and talk.
Jeff didn't stand on ceremony either, plopping down on the ground and anxiously said, "This is a prison built from an abandoned aircraft carrier, vast sea all around, no way out, what do we do next?"
"Let think," Luo Zheng mused, looking ahead silently.
"What's there to think about? We charge in, find tools for escape. If all else fails, we can take the cops inside hostage and demand aerial transportation to get away," a burly, thick-set man with a dark expression and glinting coldness in his eyes suggested.
Luo Zheng glanced at him and then toward Jeff, remaining silent. The disgruntled man barked, "What do you an? Are we attacking or not?"
"You're the strong one, you do it," Luo Zheng replied coolly.
"You looking for death?" The other man flared up, pointing his gun barrel at Luo Zheng, ready to take action. Many people imdiately gathered around, all with stern faces watching the scene unfold. No one spoke. Luo Zheng also stayed quiet, just watching the man coldly, then turned to look at Jeff.
Jeff, infuriated, stood up with his own gun aid at the man, yelling, "Scumbag, put down your gun right now, or don't bla for not being polite!"
"At this critical mont, he's doing nothing, wants all of us to follow him to death?" the man roared angrily, gripping his gun without the slightest intention of backing down.
"Bang!" Jeff, having witnessed Luo Zheng's abilities and knowing they needed him to escape, didn't hesitate and shot the man in the head. His subordinates rushed forward, snatching the gun from the man's hand, turned the barrel around toward the approaching crowd, faces full of murderous intent, eyes fierce. They were all n who licked blood off their knives, who was afraid of whom?
Seeing Jeff and his n aiming their guns, everyone was startled and stepped back. Jeff glared coldly at everyone and shouted, "Have you ever thought about whether you'd see the sun again in this lifeti? Who gave you that chance? It was him. Since he could lead us to see the light of day again, he can surely lead us out to freedom. Those who want to join us, stand to the left; those who don't, stand to the right."
