The situation began to develop in a positive direction, and Luo Zheng's heart filled with anticipation. No one willing to live would wish for death. Lan Xue had arrived, as had the ambassadors from various countries, along with a ans of communication with the outside world. As long as they handled things properly, turning the situation around wasn't impossible. Luo Zheng looked towards Lan Xue.
Lan Xue took the phone and made a call to the ambassador, briefly explaining the situation, and then handed the phone to Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng, understanding what was needed, took the phone and said, "Mr. Ambassador, thank you for your efforts. I am Ghost. There are many people from various countries held captive here, all with complicated identities. I will work with them to contact their holands and put joint pressure on Sam Country. Everything is in your hands now."
The ambassador on the line, upon hearing this, was instantly invigorated, exclaiming with surprise, "That's good news. If that's the case, our chances of success just got bigger. It all depends on the pressure each country applies."
"The pressure will definitely not be small. The identities of those held captive here are significant, and they may even hold secrets critical to their nations. They will certainly make a concerted effort to rescue them. The problem lies in the number of captives. However, I need ten minutes for them to establish contact with the outside world," Luo Zheng explained earnestly.
"No problem. Even if it costs my life, I will secure those ten minutes for you," the ambassador vowed with determination and confidence in his tone.
After hanging up the phone, Luo Zheng gestured for Jeff to co over. Jeff, elated, hurried over with a face full of expectation. Seeing Luo Zheng offer the phone, he quickly took it, dialed a number, and began speaking softly in a corner. Two minutes later, Jeff ca back, handing the phone to Luo Zheng, his face brimming with excitent, clearly indicating the favorable outco. Luo Zheng did not take the call but glanced at the others standing not far away, each of their eyes locked onto the phone, the only link to the outside world.
"Have our brothers line up, one representative from each country. Take turns and keep it under two minutes per person, to save ti for others. Oversee the process, and especially prevent anyone from smashing the phone in a fit of emotion. Got it?" Luo Zheng ordered sternly.
"Yes," Jeff replied, filled with gratitude and saluting before taking the phone and walking away.
"Who is that man?" Lan Xue asked softly, curious.
"Don't know him, nor his nationality. But his execution is strong; he's a soldier, probably from the sa rank as us, a mber of their country's Mysterious Army," Luo Zheng explained quietly.
"Making a good connection is always beneficial," Lan Xue said indifferently. As a madman approached and greeted them, and after noticing no one else was around, Lan Xue lowered their voice and said, "Getting the people here to contact their ho countries and urging their governnts to launch rescue operations, adding pressure to Sam Country, is indeed a good strategy. But what if Sam Country decides to destroy this place at all costs? Do you have any plan?"
"Our biggest concern is Sam Country using long-range ballistic missiles. If we can counter this, it would ease our situation. It seems we must take further action and have those police officers and captive soldiers contact their families. The problem is whether the phone you brought has enough battery. The communication equipnt here has been severely damaged and is beyond repair," Luo Zheng stated calmly, his sharp eyes twinkling with intelligence.
The madman looked up to the bright moon and twinkling stars in the open sky, feeling the sea breeze and suddenly in high spirits with the change of events presenting a chance of survival. Years of pent-up resentnt seed to dissipate with the wind. Looking at Luo Zheng and Lan Xue, the madman spoke with a touch of apprehension, "The team leader welcod back, but in this condition, what can I possibly do if I return?"
"You have a wealth of experience and a good skill with the blade. Leave the frontline combat to us younger guys. You could beco an instructor at the base, right? Pass on your knowledge to the next generation and enhance everyone's combat ability," Luo Zheng suggested with a smile, giving Lan Xue a knowing look, signaling them to add a few words.
After a mont's thought, Lan Xue said, "That suggestion isn't bad. Your skills shouldn't go to waste. Share them with everyone, raise their combat effectiveness, and let them fight for you."
The madman knew they were trying to comfort him, but still smiled gratefully, "My life was saved by you two. Serving the organization is my longstanding wish. As long as the organization needs , I'll never falter, even if I've been delayed for over thirty years and have forgotten much, afraid of being unable to teach and becoming a laughingstock."
"You're too modest. Your Invisible Blade Skill is transcendental and even more potent than a gun. I've heard from Grandfather about the ti you split a bullet in two with your blade, hitting assailants on both sides, not only saving yourself but everyone else, winning the battle. Though the mission was off-the-record, so there's no official account, with that skill under your belt, you have no equal. If you can pass this on to everyone at the base, it would surely raise our close combat capabilities by a notch," Lan Xue said earnestly with a serious expression.
Upon hearing this, Luo Zheng was surprised, looking at the madman with newfound respect for the malnourished-looking elder's glorious past. Considering he had already learned the Invisible Blade Skill, he felt overjoyed and said gratefully, "Brother, thank you for passing on such a formidable blade technique to ."
"You learned the Invisible Blade Skill?" Lan Xue asked in surprise, smiling broadly when Luo Zheng nodded.
"The core of the Invisible Blade Skill lies in two words: Invisible. The extent of its mastery depends on personal fate. I'm content to have you carry on the technique," the madman said seriously.
After chatting for a while, Jeff ca back, holding the phone, indicating that everyone had finished their calls. Luo Zheng took the phone and turned to gaze at the dark moonlit sky, pondering before saying, "Jeff, please take care of this — watch those police officers and reinforcents carefully, beware of them causing trouble. Also, arrange for so food; great unrest cos with hunger. We don't know which direction things will go from here, so let everyone relax a bit."
"Yes," Jeff replied and left.
Lan Xue looked at Luo Zheng with questioning eyes. Once Jeff was gone, she asked in a low voice, "Why not let the police contact the outside? Are you worried about sothing?"
"If the police establish contact with the outside world, the affairs here will be completely exposed, and the governnt of Sam Country will be put on the defensive. Pushed to extres by sha and outrage, they could react unpredictably. Call ho and keep an eye on Sam Country's dium- and long-range missiles. If the missiles launch, it will take them a few minutes to arrive, and we can still act at that point," Luo Zheng explained with a grave expression, his brow furrowed and face filled with worry.
With the situation as it stood, Luo Zheng was worrying not only about a direct missile strike from Sam Country but also about the possibility of precipitating such an attack if the police were able to communicate outside. Caught between two difficult choices, uncertain about the best course of action, he could only rely on his ho base for surveillance. Whether that would be effective, Luo Zheng had no confidence.
"We must find a way to break free as soon as possible," Luo Zheng said, his face growing stern and his voice tinged with annoyance.
