Diagonal rain drove through the vast forest as a waterfall thundered down, crashing into the pool and creating a deafening roar. After the heavy rain, the waterfall was even more magnificent, wider than usual. The river carried along various debris of grass, branches, and even so animal carcasses that tumbled downstream, flowing away into the distance. An ard squad spread out and combed along the river, on high alert as if facing a formidable enemy.
Behind the waterfall, several pairs of eyes peered through it, their gazes flickering with intense combat readiness, yet so well concealed that outsiders didn't notice. It was Luo Zheng and his group. Before long, the search party reached the edge of the pool, spreading out a bit. Three n, arranged in an arrowhead formation, cautiously advanced, inspecting their surroundings with a savage glint in their eyes akin to that of wild animals, but they failed to pay attention to the situation behind the waterfall.
The three n arrived beside the waterfall unknowingly. Noticing the strange, craggy rocks around the waterfall, one of them approached the rear cautiously, discovering a cave. He beca more alert, aiming his gun towards the cave. Hiding at the entrance, Luo Zheng and the others had already retreated, each finding large rocks to conceal themselves behind, drawing their pistols. For close combat, pistols were more suitable. They watched the cave entrance coldly.
An ard person appeared at the entrance, warily scrutinizing the cave as he walked towards it. Everyone slowly peeked out, raised their pistols, ready to strike. Suddenly, soone outside shouted a few words, and the person heading into the cave turned around and hurriedly left.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng and his group watched the departing ard man with surprise. They were so close—if the man had walked just another three or four ters forward, they would have been forced to open fire, thus revealing their position. They hadn't expected the man to leave, especially with such haste, as if sothing had happened. They exchanged bewildered glances, filled with doubt.
Outside the waterfall, the troop hastily retreated. Erging from the cave, they observed the departing squad vanish into the forest, their expressions growing grave. Luo Zheng suddenly spoke up, "Guys, could it be that sothing's gone wrong within their ranks, forcing them to rush back for support or to evacuate?"
"Possible," Lan Xue said seriously, her expression somber. She looked at everyone, "Regardless of the reason, we must hurry over there and see for ourselves." They imdiately followed her lead and marched rapidly ahead. After about an hour, they heard a barrage of gunfire. Everyone's spirits lifted, and they quickened their pace. Soon, they reached a mountain ridge and looked down to see scores of regular troops fiercely attacking a training camp. The camp's defenders, though outnumbered, were holding back the assault and even gaining the upper hand.
"They've started fighting?" Everyone instantly understood, smiling with delight.
"Take cover," Luo Zheng commanded, and they dispersed to find places to hide. Through their sniper scopes, they began closely observing the battle unfolding in the valley below. Luo Zheng lifted his binoculars and saw that the attacking regular troops were from Arctic Bear Country, nearly a thousand in number. In contrast, the training camp had less than a third of that, yet their fighting capability was formidable, accurately picking off attacking soldiers from Arctic Bear Country. The battle had reached a stalemate.
"It seems our analysis was correct," Lan Xue said, a trace of satisfaction on her otherwise cold face. "A high-ranking officer from Arctic Bear Country was assassinated, the military personnel who ca to inquire were chased down. Although it's all a misunderstanding, the military needs to account for it to the nation. The best way is to attack the training camp, treating it as a Terrorist Organization to eradicate. If they're defeated, there's no bla, but if they win, it's a military achievent."
"What I don't understand," Luo Zheng murmured in surprise, "is the relationship between this training camp and the Arctic Bear Military should be decent, otherwise it couldn't have existed for so many years. Why would they suddenly want to eradicate it?"
"There's a possibility that the training camp had bought off so of the bigwigs in the Arctic Bear Military, but not all of them. Now that things have gone south, they can't cover it up anymore, so they might as well wipe out this Terrorist Organization. Doing so would erase the fact that they were bribed, and at the sa ti, they would gain rit—a win-win," Lan Xue said in a low voice.
Luo Zheng really didn't understand these political things. After hearing Lan Xue's analysis, he thought it over and absolutely found it reasonable. He couldn't help but laugh, enlightened, and said, "When important figures of the training camp are killed, there's no way to explain it to the big boss. The best solution is to find the culprit. Now that the Arctic Bear Country has attacked, pinning the bla on Arctic Bear is both logical and justifiable, and the big boss can accept that. This is a beautiful misunderstanding that benefits us; it seems we're quite lucky."
"You're good at strategizing, especially since that important figure was sniped, which thoroughly enraged the people at the training camp. When the regular forces of the Arctic Bear Country co to encircle and suppress, with enemies eting eye-to-eye, neither side is good, so should we watch the drama or help one side?" Lan Xue asked in a low voice.
"Watch the drama. Guys, pay attention and see if any of our targets are here," Luo Zheng instructed through the headset. They had expended so much effort just to find the Tiger King; if the Tiger King wasn't there, they didn't need to get involved in this ss. However, if he was, they would have to play it by ear.
"Understood," everyone said in unison, and began searching carefully.
The battle beca more and more intense. Two helicopters flew over to help, strafing the camp fiercely. Bullets poured down like rain, sweeping through the camp like a plow through soil, leaving it in a total ss. At that mont, Luo Zheng noticed that many trenches had been dug within the camp; when the helicopters strafed, everyone hid in the trenches, and the bullets did no harm.
"Swoosh!" Two RPGs were fired almost simultaneously. Rockets howled away, trailing long flas, chasing the helicopters like fierce demons. One helicopter nimbly dodged, while the other also skillfully made an evasive maneuver but was hit by a heavy machine gun, imdiately emitting black smoke and drifting to the side.
Just then, another RPG roared into life. A rocket angrily tore through the air, colliding directly with the hit helicopter, instantly engulfing it in a large red cloud. The helicopter was dismbered in mid-air, and countless fragnts flew wildly, landing haphazardly, crashing onto the buildings and causing great destruction.
Now, the Arctic Bear Military began using RPGs as well. A dozen fired at once, carrying the endless murderous intent and fury of the Arctic Bear, surging towards the training camp. Explosions shattered, sending fragnts flying everywhere. The terrifying red clouds and shockwaves tore the buildings apart and engulfed the combatants.
"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!" Another dozen rockets howled out, assaulting the camp ferociously. It was apparent that the Arctic Bear had beco truly enraged; nearly a thousand n encircling a camp had suffered heavy losses—who could take responsibility for this?
Under the fierce artillery bombardnt, the training camp couldn't hold on any longer and began a structured retreat. Luo Zheng watched the camp intently, still looking for a glimpse of the Tiger King's figure, puzzled by his absence. Could he not be here?
The remaining ard helicopter changed direction and swooped down toward the camp again. Ground troops also launched a charge, with war cries shaking the heavens, explosions, and gunfire intertwining, creating a terrifying cacophony. The battle was exceptionally savage, with people dying every minute.
