The crisp moonlight fell on Karst Stone Mountain, as if draping a layer of silver veil over the stone mountain. Slowly, a head peeked out from behind an inconspicuous rock, its face sared with camouflage paint. A pair of eyes, clear in their black and white distinction, flickered with a cautious light as a steel gun was slowly raised, aiming and continuously scanning the flat terrain ahead, which was clearly visible with only the gentle breeze swaying the low grass, all around was dead silent.
Luo Zheng carefully scanned the area for a while but found nothing; his expression grew more solemn. Feelings of unrest only arose when danger was imminent. Just now, he had completely relaxed, entering a serene state of emptiness. In such a relaxed state, one's sixth sense beca sharper. Trusting his feelings, he continued to search the area ahead while whispering into his headset, "Do you see anything suspicious?"
"No, what's up?" Lan Xue whispered back.
"Sothing feels off. Ghost Hand, left side; Snow Leopard, right side; Mountain Eagle, behind; Xue Er, you handle the middle and coordinate from a higher position, I'll take the front. Let's move while the enemy hasn't yet approached," Luo Zheng quickly said, setting up a defensive periter. Not knowing from which direction the enemy might co, this arrangent was logical.
Upon hearing Luo Zheng's command, everyone promptly moved into action, each seizing advantageous terrain to continue their ambush, carefully monitoring their respective areas and not overlooking any detail. Ti ticked away second by second with only the wind blowing gently and the occasional chirp of so unknown insects. The surroundings were eerily quiet, and everyone stayed vigilant, their eyes sharpening.
After a while, Luo Zheng felt his unease intensifying without reason, his nerves tingling with alertness. Suddenly, he spotted through his sniper scope a human heat signature behind a large rock. Shocked, Luo Zheng had checked this rock more than once before with no signs of anything suspicious, realizing the enemy had arrived and they were skilled. He quickly whispered into his headset, "Target spotted directly ahead, suddenly appeared behind the rock. Everyone be careful, these are skilled opponents."
"Understood," everyone whispered in response.
Luo Zheng continued his search and, finding no other suspects, focused intently on the target already found. The rock was large and solid enough to completely shield the target. The surrounding area was flat with no other cover. He contemplated whether to blast the rock open since there was no way for the person behind it to dodge if he did. However, the rock was too massive; not even bullets or an incendiary bomb would penetrate it. What to do?
As he pondered, voices from Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard ca through the headset, each having spotted a suspicious individual. So far, the enemy was attacking from three sides, one person on each. Where did the enemy get such confidence? This thought flashed through everyone's minds when they suddenly considered a possibility: the Death God Killer Organization.
The Terrorist Organization had two major ard forces: one was the regular ard troops and the other was the Death God Killer Organization, trained in their camps. The Death Gods were the most formidable ard force within the Terrorist Organization and a dreadful force that deterred other organizations and countries. It was expected for the Terrorist Organization to send Death Gods after them, but to send only three seed overly confident.
Soon, no one dared to underestimate the enemy; upon their arrival, the three enemies each took cover and didn't rush to attack. Instead, they hid for over two hours, as if they didn't exist at all. Without the infrared imaging from their sniper scopes, they wouldn't have noticed the enemies behind the rocks.
Motionless as a mountain, swift as blazing fire. Luo Zheng intoned solemnly, "These guys appeared suddenly and hid calmly. Everyone, be careful. They might be the world's fifth-ranked Death God killers, indeed tougher than the Reincarnation ranked slightly lower. The Reincarnation are adept at assassination, but these Death Gods feel more like soldiers."
"Coming out of the training camp, the instructors, who were soldiers, naturally had a military style. However, dragging on like this isn't viable. If this drags until tomorrow, a large number of ard terrorist organization mbers will arrive, and then we won't be able to retreat," Lan Xue reminded in a low voice.
"Does anyone have any ideas?" Luo Zheng asked quietly.
"Retreating might not work either. Behind us is Wata Organization territory, and the terrain there is relatively open and flat, making us easy to expose. If Death God Killers have already quietly moved in to ambush, what if they're just waiting for us to retreat?" Ghost Hand warned.
"Are you suggesting that these three Death God Killers are here just to intimidate us, aid at forcing us to move, so they're not in a rush to make a move?" Snow Leopard asked, startled.
"It's highly possible. It's been more than two hours with no reaction at all, which is very abnormal. They're either monitoring our movents or intimidating us to fall back, both of which are disadvantageous to us. We must find a way to break this situation soon," Mountain Eagle added softly.
"Hmm, this situation is unfavorable for us. Death God Killers could strike at any mont, forcing us to remain alert, unable to sleep, relax, or be careless. The constant high tension is leaving us at a disadvantage. If they attack at dawn after a night of tension, we will be exhausted by morning, certainly no match for them. Ghost, do you have any solutions?"
"Brother Mountain Eagle is right. Retreating might lead us into an ambush, advancing ans leaving our cover and exposing ourselves, and holding our ground will drain our energy, which is extrely disadvantageous by daylight. Indeed, this is a cunning plan. Brothers, should we fight or wait?" Luo Zheng said angrily in a low voice.
"Let's fight. Sitting ducks isn't our style." Everyone also felt the pressure from the three suddenly appeared enemies and expressed their stance.
Luo Zheng heard everyone's eager responses but didn't act imdiately. Instead, he fell into deep thought, sensing a conspiracy but not knowing what it was. His cold gaze fixed on a suspicious target ahead, feeling the invisible, suffocating pressure of the Death God, he clenched his fists in irritation and said, "Brothers, the enemy is not simple. A simple scenario has put us in a difficult position, moving forward might not be safe either. Since the enemy has laid out this plan, they definitely have further tricks."
"Are you saying that neither advancing nor retreating will be easy?" Snow Leopard asked, surprised in a low voice.
"Ambushes are possible in front and behind, and likely on both sides too. Whether we attack or retreat, we might encounter an ambush. Waiting won't work either, as once daylight breaks, we'll only be left to passively take hits. This is a deadlock. Let think. Everyone, if you have any good ideas, speak up," Luo Zheng analyzed angrily, a crushing invisible pressure weighing on his chest, making breathing difficult, almost unbearably uncomfortable, as if he wanted to rush out and wreak havoc imdiately.
