Lan Xue chased outside, calling Luo Zheng to get in her car. Luo Zheng thought for a mont and then got into the car. Lan Xue didn't ask anything, started the car with a somber face, and sped out. Upon exiting the community, Lan Xue drove very fast. Knowing Lan Xue was in a bad mood, Luo Zheng stayed silent, allowing Lan Xue to vent her dissatisfaction through speeding.
The car sped all the way, inadvertently reaching the outskirts. Lan Xue stopped the car, looked at Luo Zheng, and said guiltily, "I didn't expect things to turn out this way. What did you two talk about? Why did my dad get so angry? From what I know about you two, it's impossible for you to argue or get angry. You two must be hiding sothing from ."
After all, she was the National Blade Elite Soldier King. Once cald down, her thinking and analytical skills were terrifyingly sharp. She quickly grasped the essence of the problem. Luo Zheng smiled bitterly, feeling that it would be unfair to keep this matter from Lan Xue. The enmity of the murder of her mother could not be shared under the sa sky. The only reason Mr. Lan didn't tell Lan Xue was because he didn't trust her ability enough, fearing she might impulsively act out of hand.
"Tell ." Lan Xue saw a clue from Luo Zheng's expression, further confirming her judgnt, and pressed him.
"I can tell you, but you need to promise one thing." Luo Zheng said seriously.
"Huh? Go ahead." Lan Xue imdiately realized the complexity of the matter and replied solemnly.
"After you hear it, you must not act impulsively and stay calm." Luo Zheng said sternly.
"You know , do I really need to be told this?" Lan Xue retorted.
Luo Zheng was taken aback, smiling bitterly. In terms of calmness, Luo Zheng admitted he couldn't compare to Lan Xue. Lan Xue's speeding earlier was due to concern, understandable. After thinking it over, he said, "Your dad told that your mom was murdered, and he wants to find the killer without telling you and your sister."
"What? What's going on? Tell quickly." Upon hearing this, Lan Xue was shocked and urgently questioned him.
Luo Zheng briefly recounted the earlier conversation. As she listened, Lan Xue wept, looking pained. She hadn't expected her mother to have been murdered rather than dying of illness as everyone said. Her father lived on stooping and fawning, solely to gather clues. It was all too sudden. After Luo Zheng finished speaking, Lan Xue couldn't hold back anymore. She hugged Luo Zheng, resting her head on his shoulder, and cried loudly.
A child who suddenly learns about a murder wouldn't be calm. Not going berserk is already very rational. Luo Zheng understood Lan Xue's pain. A child without maternal love—the bitterness of such was not for outsiders to comprehend. He embraced Lan Xue, gently stroking her back, hoping to alleviate her sorrow.
After a while, tears soaked Luo Zheng's shoulder. Lan Xue stopped crying, pulled two tissues to wipe her tears, looked gratefully at Luo Zheng and said, "Thank you for telling everything. I'm okay now."
"Yes, I think you have the right to know the truth, and I trust you to stay calm. Your dad entrusted this matter to . If we join forces, we can surely find out the truth and give your mom an explanation," Luo Zheng said seriously.
"Yes." Lan Xue reached out her hand.
Understanding, Luo Zheng reached out as well. Their hands clasped tightly together, their hearts closely connected. Luo Zheng whispered, "Live in the sa room, die in the sa tomb."
"Yes, live in the sa room, die in the sa tomb," Lan Xue echoed without hesitation, smiling blissfully. She leaned her head against Luo Zheng's shoulder, gazing ahead dreamily, with inner peace, as if any great difficulty beca irrelevant because of love in her heart.
Such vows of love in life and death etched deeply in their hearts at this mont.
Luo Zheng also silently watched ahead, savoring this mont of peace and warmth. There was no battle, no bloodshed, no killing, just eternal love, serene and real, like the fluttering willow branches by the street, within reach, truly existing, as love flowed within the car.
After so ti, Lan Xue slowly sat up straight, her face becoming resolute, clearly having erged from her grief, and asked, "What plans do you have next?"
"Your father said your grandfather sent people to investigate this matter. Should we ask them? Maybe there's a clue," Luo Zheng suggested. With Mr. Li's ans and abilities, it was unlikely there were no clues.
Lan Xue's eyes lit up, she started the car, turned around to head back into the city, and said, "You're right. Without clues, we won't know where to start. It's been so many years. But even if there are no clues, the Song family can't be let off lightly. It's ti to take action against them."
The two analyzed all sorts of possibilities, unconsciously arriving at a military restricted zone. After presenting their identities, they were imdiately allowed in. Lan Xue parked the car at the courtyard entrance, and both she and Luo Zheng quickly went inside. Soone greeted them, Mr. Li's bodyguard, who knew the two and asked them to wait in the living room while Mr. Li finished his eting.
Lan Xue thanked him, sent the guard away, and sat on the sofa with Luo Zheng to boil water for tea. Having been here more than once, both were familiar. In front of her most respected grandfather, Lan Xue showed her true nature without any pretense.
After drinking a few cups of tea, Mr. Li ca hurrying over. Seeing them, he smiled with joy, "You two still have a bit of conscience, knowing to co and see this old man."
"Grandfather, we ca, but didn't bring gifts. After all, you lack nothing here, right? This tea is nice. I'll take a bag ho later, no objections?" Lan Xue said with a smile, showing her true self in front of her most respected grandfather, without any pretense.
"It's rare for you to co ho. No ti for tea. Your dad doesn't lack it. Who are you planning to give it to?" Mr. Li asked with a smile, sitting at the head seat, looking kindly at Lan Xue, imnsely gratified, his eyes then falling on Luo Zheng, imdiately catching on, he chuckled, "Alright, take more then. Coming to empty-handed is fine, but you can't go visiting others empty-handed, you might lose etiquette."
"Grandfather, you're just teasing ." Lan Xue blushed with embarrassnt, giving Mr. Li a playful glare. Rembering the serious matter, her expression beca solemn, hesitating to speak.
"Sothing's up?" Mr. Li asked, looking at Lan Xue with curiosity.
"Yes, grandfather, tell , was my mom murdered?" Lan Xue earnestly questioned, looking at Mr. Li, her expression turning to one of sorrow and anger.
"Huh?" Mr. Li looked at Lan Xue in surprise, his eyes involuntarily landing on Luo Zheng, pondering. After a while, Mr. Li suddenly said, "Did your dad speak with him?"
"Yes, did you and my dad talk about sothing? My dad found him." Lan Xue answered truthfully.
"Well, it was about you two. I sought your dad to diate, no specifics needed. Since your dad found him and told him about this, it ans your stubborn bastard of a father finally ca around. Leaving it to you two is good." Mr. Li said casually, his half-closed eyes glinting with wisdom, seemingly seeing through all the fog.
