The guard knew he was in the wrong, but he didn't back down or concede. Instead, he said with a hostile expression, "She is the General's granddaughter. Also, are you here to accept a mission? We were originally in charge here, and with our skills, we can protect this place easily without your help."
"Oh, really? Are you sure you want us to leave?" Upon hearing this, Luo Zheng imdiately understood that these guards were resentful, probably upset that he took their job. He couldn't help but find it amusing and sneered, "Repeat what you just said."
"Fine, I'll say it again. You're not welco here, so leave." The rebellious girl shouted excitedly, as if she feared nothing more than chaos, giving the guard a push and continuing, "Say it quickly. What are you afraid of him for? Get rid of them, and then you can drive out to have fun. I'm all ready."
"You all should go." The bodyguard felt a little apprehensive but still voiced his true thoughts.
Hearing this, Luo Zheng felt even more amused, as he was looking for an excuse to refuse. He imdiately glanced at Lan Xue, who nodded knowingly, and the two turned and began to leave. The bodyguard was stunned, thinking of the General's usual authoritative ways, shuddered involuntarily, while the rebellious girl excitedly shouted, "Good riddance, let's go too."
This ti, the guard didn't comply with the girl's words. Instead, he quickly walked a few steps to catch up, blocking Lan Xue's car with a restrained sense of apprehension, "I apologize for my words and actions earlier. The General is waiting for you. Follow ."
Lan Xue and Luo Zheng exchanged a glance, and Luo Zheng whispered helplessly, "We can't leave now, might as well go down and take a look. A rebellious girl, combined with a group of disgruntled guards, and this complex terrain, it's easy for an assassin to succeed. This mission won't be easy."
"Adapt to the situation. Ultimately, you make the calls," Lan Xue whispered back.
The two got out of the car, and the rebellious girl ran up, scolding, "Why aren't you two leaving? I said you're not welco here, so get out."
The two didn't even glance at the girl, following the guard inside. The girl imdiately got anxious, chased after them, blocking the way, glaring, and cursing, "Oh wow, we have two oblivious fools here. Let teach you a lesson, to show you there are bigger fish to fry." She assud a fighting stance, but her small pink fists were dismissed by Luo Zheng.
The girl got even angrier, shouted furiously, and was about to rush over when a stern voice behind her shouted, "What kind of behavior is this? Get in here."
Luo Zheng looked over to see an elder appear at the villa's entrance, wearing a commanding General's uniform, with gray hair at the temples, a short haircut, no military cap, a square face, piercing eyes, a high nose, and wide lips. He exuded the aura of authority from head to toe, precisely the General they were supposed to et.
The rebellious girl, seeing the General, seed like a mouse eting a cat, imdiately lost her temper, and slunk back with her head hanging low. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue exchanged a glance and followed her inside. They walked into the living room to see the General sitting solemnly on the main sofa and respectfully saluted.
"You two sit down first. Let handle so family matters," the General said calmly, his gaze shifting to the rebellious girl, and his expression beca serious. The gentle eyes turned sharp, "Dressed like neither a human nor a ghost, what are you trying to do? Still acting like a human being?"
"Grandpa, no need to get angry. Anger is bad for your health, calm down," the rebellious girl quickly said with a fawning smile, looking obedient, but with her incongruous attire, it gave a ridiculous impression. She glared at Luo Zheng and Lan Xue, then continued with a smile, "Grandpa, I'm going to a class reunion. Everyone dresses like this, so I have to follow the trend, or else people will say I'm unsociable."
"Going out like that disgraces our family na. No way," the General coldly scolded, with an undisputable tone of command.
"Alright, I won't go then. Please, don't get angry anymore, I'll remove my makeup right away," the rebellious girl said with evident fear, quickly smiling in accompanint.
But Luo Zheng could see that this rebellious girl wasn't accepting criticism; she was just sowhat fearful of the General and didn't dare to provoke him openly. Once the General left, she might sneak out, which is common for rebellious girls. However, he said nothing, as it was a family matter of the General.
"Hurry up, co down after removing your makeup," the General coldly stated.
The rebellious girl agreed, glared secretly at Luo Zheng with a warning intently, then turned and ran upstairs. Luo Zheng responded indifferently, calmly ignoring it.
The General looked over the two, his expression becoming slightly gentle. "Xue Er, I didn't expect you to grow up to be a big lady after these few years. You probably don't recognize anymore, do you?"
"How could I not? Grandpa Liu is a pillar of the military. Even if we juniors are ignorant, we can't fail to recognize you," Lan Xue replied with a smile.
"Hmm, your grandfather and I were comrades who fought life and death, brothers from the sa trench. There's nothing wrong with you calling grandpa. If my granddaughter were half as capable as you, I'd be overjoyed. Seeing you young ones grow up, we old folks can't pretend we're not getting old," the General said sentintally.
"Grandpa Liu, you flatter us. We still have much to improve and need to learn from you," Lan Xue responded courteously.
"I won't say more nonsense and get to the point. I've reviewed your squad's achievents over the past year, always winning against the odds. Every mission is full of tactical wisdom, very impressive. I heard you're responsible for the tactical commands. This ti, I called you here partly to et, and partly to ask if you have the confidence to take on the task of protecting my family?" The General's expression beca serious as he looked at Luo Zheng and inquired.
"Reporting, sir, no confidence," Luo Zheng stood up abruptly, responding without hesitation.
"Uh?" The General was sowhat taken aback. A soldier is expected to accept a mission without hesitation and assure its completion confidently. How could there be no confidence? The General curiously studied Luo Zheng, his expression turning serious, "Young man, soldiers take pride in their missions and see retreat as a sha. Why do you say you lack confidence? If you don't give a reason, I won't let you off."
"Knock, knock, knock!" The sound of high heels approaching was heard, and soon, a dignified woman entered from outside. Her hair was styled, she wore an elegant cheongsam, exuding maturity, intelligence, and nobility with an air of authority. Luo Zheng gave her a quick glance; with a stranger present, it wasn't convenient to answer the General's question.
"Father, you're ho. Have you eaten? What do you want for lunch? I'll arrange it imdiately," the dignified woman asked politely upon seeing the General, not even sparing a proper glance at Luo Zheng and Lan Xue.
"I'm busy here. You go ahead," the General said calmly, his gaze returning to Luo Zheng.
