As a soldier, Luo Zheng would never allow himself to fail. This is a principle, a bottom line defended with his life. His firmness is to give Charlie no chance and to extinguish Eck's hope, thereby extracting useful confessions. Even having Shi Feng fetch a late-night snack was a psychological hint for Eck.
Eck's body was beginning to weaken, and his mind was getting a bit confused, yet he was still gritting his teeth to hold on. As an excellent Special Agent, Eck was not afraid of death, but this process of watching himself bleed to death with open eyes was incredibly painful and despairing.
"Well done, I didn't expect your tactic of pushing the interrogation to the brink of death would work, even forcing Charlie into a panic. Very good, keep pressuring Eck, he will confess in no more than three minutes." A voice rang out in the earpiece, it was Hong ihua.
Wearing the earpiece, Luo Zheng was on a public channel, so everyone with the sa earphone could hear the conversation. Everyone naturally heard the negotiation between Luo Zheng and Charlie. Hong ihua was the first to express approval. Luo Zheng did not respond but instead coldly looked at Eck and said, "Don't rush, you'll pass out in a few more minutes. Want to call your family?"
"Family?" Hearing these two words, Eck beca even more flustered, the last of his ntal defenses crumbled suddenly, completely breaking down. Looking at his blood-dripping wrist, he cried out in agony, "Let down, I'll confess, I'll confess." After speaking the words of confession, Eck's entire person relaxed.
Luo Zheng gave Niu Gang a look, and Niu Gang knowingly tugged the rope, letting Eck down. Shi Feng breathed a sigh of relief and gave Luo Zheng a thumbs up. The interrogation tactic of coercion to the point of death is highly technical. One must grasp the timing accurately, or else the person might be pushed to death, not obtaining any useful information. Seeing Luo Zheng's relentless pressuring, even using Charlie to counter-pressure Eck, Niu Gang's eyes were opened, gaining insight.
Eck was helped up, leaning against the sofa, his wrist was bandaged and lifted high to prevent further bleeding. Looking defeated, Eck said to Luo Zheng, "Will you really let go after I confess?"
"That's impossible, but I can guarantee not to kill you, to let you receive treatnt in a hospital, and to enjoy prisoner treatnt." Luo Zheng said truthfully.
Listening to Luo Zheng's words, Eck was not disappointed, but instead laughed, though the laughter was uglier than crying. If Luo Zheng said he would be released, Eck wouldn't believe it and would choose to commit suicide. But hearing Luo Zheng say things would be done by the book, Eck instead believed Luo Zheng would follow through. The human psyche can be quite strange at tis.
"Mrs. Liu was taken by from the entrance of the Treasure Building. As for how she got there, I don't know. She is held in a private house along with another person, in Unit 2, Room 301 of Jinghai Garden. I don't know who the other person is either. My task was to handle the periter." Eck hurriedly said.
"I'll lead the team to rescue." Lan Xue's voice rang out in the earpiece, filled with endless excitent. The person was lost through her hands, and now that there was news, she naturally hoped to bring them back personally.
"You can't move, I suspect there are still people monitoring the area." Luo Zheng flatly refused, imdiately dialing Zhou Gang's number, reporting the address after the call connected, and then saying, "Everyone go, bring the person back at the fastest speed to prevent the other party from moving the hostage, send them to the Liuyuan Building, and bring weapons. Kill on sight if you encounter resistance."
"Yes." Zhou Gang quickly agreed.
"There are indeed people monitoring near the villa, Villa No. 19." Eck continued.
"I'll go," Lan Xue imdiately said upon hearing this information through the earpiece.
"No, if you move, the other side will notice." Luo Zheng refused again, looking at Niu Gang.
Niu Gang understood and made a phone call, arranging for the standby personnel to capture them. Luo Zheng glanced at Eck and asked, "Anything else you want to tell ?"
Eck shook his head, mouthed so words but couldn't speak, and passed out. Seeing this, Luo Zheng quickly stood up and said, "Pack up, Shi Feng, you take the bodies, weapons, and him. I'll take the car with Niu Gang."
"Yes," everyone agreed, standing and walking out.
The hoowner was at the door, looking terrified, even more frightened upon seeing the body. Shi Feng said to the hoowner, "Next ti don't rent out the house to just anyone. Greed for a bit of money can cost you your life. This ti, let it go. Chief, he cooperated so no punishnt."
"Thank you, leader," the hoowner hurriedly said, genuinely worried earlier about being charged with harboring suspects, a charge that could be serious or minor, but possibly unerasable for a lifeti.
The chief, seeing Shi Feng did not hold him accountable, was overjoyed, promptly complying, accompanying everyone out of the village. Curiously glanced at the body a few tis along the way, dared not ask more.
Everyone hurriedly got into the cars and left, quickly hitting the highway. On the road, Niu Gang said with so respect, "Major, your interrogation techniques are remarkable. If the opponent hadn't spoken, would you really let it go and let him bleed to death?"
"What do you think?" Luo Zheng ambiguously smiled.
"I can't guess, so I had to ask," Niu Gang sheepishly laughed.
Luo Zheng did not answer, instead looking out the car window in thought. After a while, Luo Zheng suddenly said, "We are soldiers, what does personal glory or disgrace count for? Letting him bleed out might get the intel. Showing a hint of hesitation ans they won't confess. So doing this could push soone to death, abandoning the lives of hostages is negligence. One side is negligence, the other is confession. I have no choice but to gamble."
"But, you'd lose everything because of this, including your military career and honor, even facing a military court. Don't you regret it?" Niu Gang curiously asked, with others also listening intently, in tis of conflict between work and personal matters, everyone had been confused before.
"We are soldiers, we have no choice. Our existence's only value is to complete the mission. For the mission, what do personal life and death, glory, and disgrace count for? Without doing this, Eck lives, and the hostages won't be returned, still a failure. I don't allow myself to fail, so I can only choose to gamble, even if it ans facing a military court, with endless infamy and disgrace." Luo Zheng calmly said, looking outside the window, eyes becoming more resolute.
Listening to Luo Zheng, Niu Gang and others couldn't help but feel a sense of respect. If others said this, Niu Gang and others might think it's pretentious, too fake. But after witnessing Luo Zheng's thods, everyone knew Luo Zheng is a real soldier, a pure soldier, who can forsake everything for this country, for the mission. Such a person is worthy of admiration.
Suddenly, a phone rang. Luo Zheng suspiciously picked up the phone, and it was Zhou Gang. Upon answering, an urgent voice filled with endless frustration shouted, "Captain, the person is no longer there."
