It's around four in the morning, and the bustling Beijing has quieted down a bit. The passionate n and won of the night who bought their drunken pleasures have dispersed. Occasionally, a car zooms past on the street, but you hardly see any pedestrians. The neon lights are still flashing with enthusiasm. The Liuyuan Group Building stands tall and solitary in the city center, majestic and solemn, yet with a touch of modern flair. So lights are still on inside the building, and the lobby is also lit up, but no one can be seen. It looks quite eerie.
Luo Zheng rushed to the lobby door in one breath and saw soone erge from behind a square pillar in the lobby — it was Lan Xue. Luo Zheng went up to her and, noticing others hidden in the lobby corners as well, asked, "What's the situation now?"
"We haven't seen them nor know exactly how many, but everyone feels an intrusion. They've all deployed according to your request. They're ambushing on the first floor and basent. After all this ti, they should be making a move," Lan Xue whispered, motioning for Luo Zheng to lean against the sturdy, solid square pillar, which makes for a good cover that can stop bullets once a firefight breaks out.
"They're likely sneaking up one floor at a ti, and should be on the top floor by now. Once they realize it's a trap, they'll definitely hide on the building's various floors, waiting till daybreak so they can escape. Additionally, letting the people who work in this building know there's been a shootout isn't good either; we need to resolve this before dawn," Luo Zheng said, his face stoic, eyes gleaming with killing intent. After a mont of contemplation, he asked, "Where's Niu Gang?"
Lan Xue pointed to the corner nearby, and Luo Zheng quickly dashed over knowingly. Sure enough, he spotted Niu Gang vigilantly observing the situation. Seeing Luo Zheng approaching, Niu nodded in acknowledgnt. Luo Zheng leaned against the wall, his expression solemn as he asked, "Can we get a thermal imaging instrunt? Also, call for so support?"
"No problem," Niu Gang readily agreed, pulling out his phone.
Luo Zheng swiftly returned to Lan Xue, hid beside her and continued, "I didn't expect Charlie's backup plan to be this ruthless, attacking two of our strongholds consecutively. This ans he's playing for keeps. We aren't sure if it's Reincarnation or the Death God Killer Organization as we predicted, but hopefully, no other group shows up, or we'll be in real trouble."
"Boom!" Before Lan Xue could reply, an explosion erupted from the top floor of the building. Luo Zheng's face changed, and he looked at Lan Xue, unable to contain his excitent. Soone had indeed infiltrated, and the trap was sprung. Lan Xue also clutched her gun excitedly, saying, "So long without any activity, we thought it was a false alarm and no one ca in. We didn't anticipate they could be this patient, striking only after such a wait, but unfortunately still falling for your gambit. Shall we fire?"
"No, there's no need to rush. As long as we hold the first floor and basent, they can't escape. We'll bide our ti and let them rush out before we engage. With their cautiousness, they won't rashly charge. Everyone, be on guard," Luo Zheng said, his latter words louder, reminding those ambushed in the lobby.
After the explosion, the building returned to a calm as if nothing had happened, but no one dared to move. They waited patiently, not knowing how much ti had passed when a sound from the elevator drew their attention. Luo Zheng turned to look; the elevator was coming down, and he quickly took aim, with Lan Xue also targeting the elevator entrance.
Before long, the elevator doors opened, and the two calmly held their composure, not firing imdiately. Realizing the elevator was empty, they understood it was a ploy. Regular police on alert would have fired at the open elevator door, wasting ammo and giving away their position, surprising only to drive the enemy away.
Luo Zheng exchanged a glance with Lan Xue, and the two swiftly moved to either side of the elevator, leaning against the wall, guns trained on the elevator, waiting patiently. Their hiding in the lobby was still unbeknownst to the intruders; otherwise, they wouldn't foolishly rush into a trap.
After waiting for a while, Luo Zheng keenly heard movent above the elevator cab as soone opened the ceiling panel. A head peeked out to scout; Luo Zheng and Lan Xue quickly retreated, holding their breath and calming their excitent to wait patiently. Not long after, they heard a faint sound like soone jumping down. Luo Zheng signaled Lan Xue with a glance, she nodded knowingly, and Luo Zheng took a sudden step forward, firing into the elevator cab.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Three bullets whistled out in a trident formation, sealing off any potential hiding or escape angles in the elevator. After the three shots, Luo Zheng saw a Black Shadow leap out like a cheetah, deftly dodging aside. The black figure was focused solely on Luo Zheng's direction, not realizing Lan Xue was on the other side.
As the figure rushed out of the elevator, Lan Xue also fired. Her bullet aid directly at their head, a distance of rely two ters. For Lan Xue, it posed no difficulty. The bullet hit its target, and the Black Shadow's body fell with a thud, eyes wide open, staring at the void in unwillingness and bewildernt.
"Eh?" Luo Zheng looked in surprise at the body on the floor, dressed in ninja attire. Could they be from the Death God Killer Organization? A further inspection revealed the figure had taken two shots — likely blocked by a bullet-resistant vest, leaving them lightly hurt. No wonder they managed to escape the elevator. Thankfully, Lan Xue, tasked with the follow-up shot, had aid for the head, otherwise, they might have gotten away.
At this point, Lan Xue dashed to the elevator cab, peering upward through the ceiling cover, spotting soone quickly climbing up. She swiftly aid and fired, "Bang, bang, bang!" Lan Xue emptied her magazine, retreating to the side. Luo Zheng had already prepared. He swiftly took her place, continuing to fire upwards, observing the target move nimbly like a Monkey, jumping around rapidly in the elevator shaft, making it hard to get a clear shot.
Luo Zheng was exceedingly frustrated, aiming continuously while firing, and said to Lan Xue, who had reloaded and ca to assist, "You left, I'll take the right."
"Bang, bang, bang!" The two continued firing, ignoring aiming concerns, each targeting probable hiding spots on their assigned side. Luo Zheng sharply noticed the target running straight into the line of fire and was overjoyed, only to find them unscathed and continuing to climb upwards swiftly. Luo Zheng paused, suddenly recalling the earlier person had a bullet-resistant vest, rendering close shots non-fatal. Realizing the target must be similarly equipped, he irritably resud firing, quickly emptying his gun with the clattering of hamr strikes against empty chambers.
"Reload," Luo Zheng ordered, quickly ejecting the magazine. Suddenly, he heard a loud thud above, and looked up in surprise. It was soone crashing into the elevator cab. Lan Xue, unfazed by whether the target was dead or not, aid and fired two shots at the head.
"Phew!" Luo Zheng exhaled deeply, jumped up to drag the corpse down, and threw it onto the floor, similarly dressed as a ninja. Like the outside person, there was no katana, just a pistol and an extra submachine gun hanging around their neck, left unused in their frantic escape.
